Rinne or Reincarnation, is named after a Japanese horror movie that Saiki is a fan of. The film is about a serial killer who kills people and records them with an 8mm film camera in an attempt to see when their soul leaves their body.
Because of that Saiki thought it would be good to film the MV on 8mm film. So they used 2 Super 8, 8mm film cameras, but they ran into a few problems so they had to add several action cameras (GoPro style). The problem was Akane's feet on the double bass pedals and Kanami's fingers on her fretboard were too fast for the 24 frames per second of the film cameras. So they set the action cameras to I think 120 frames per second. They then edited everything together and overlaid a filter to make it look more like the film negative itself.
The MV itself was filmed in a warehouse that is regularly used for movie and television production.
At the end the "It's sink or swim - SHUT UP!" was directed at certain detractors who didn't like their previous album (Conqueror). And their Unseen World album was much harder in places, while still having some of their smoother hard rock.

Rinne, rin-ne, is the cycle of death and rebirth. The song has two meanings. One is the difficulty in finding meaning in life, even with repeated chance. The other is an answer to critics who were saying that Band Maid was too pop. Maybe the "shut up" at the end was for the critics. I think the guitar solo is brilliant. Nothing like anything else you've heard, but exactly right. It sounds like the experience of life.

The lyrics , It's sink or swim SHUT UP , was Miku`s answer to people who said they were getting to poppy sounding .

If Band-Maid isn't ripping your face off (Rinne, No God, Black Hole), they're soothing your soul (Manners, Daydreaming, Memorable). Their music does what great music is supposed to do... move you, if only for a moment, into another realm. What more could you ask for from a Band of incredible Maids?! Thank you Hanier fam, for bringing your viewers into the Band-Maid experience.

It's not spooky per se, though it was inspired by a Japanese Horror Movie of the same name (Rin-Ne) or Reincarnation, which used a lot of 8mm film, so that's how they shot it, in an abandoned house. If you haven't already done so, I suggest you check out their song that was commissioned as the season two closer for the Netflix anime, Kengan Ashura, 'Shambles'. It rocks!

Cool idea 👍… but what about another top NON specifically Japanese , NON specifically all female , NON specifically Rock/Metal genre list . I don’t have a specific list in mind … but tracks that spring to mind for the Haniers to consider might be :
      1. Sherbet - Howzat
      2. Buzzcocks- Harmony in my head
3.Paul McCartney and Wings - Bluebird ( from Rock show Live )
      4. Eddy and the hot rods - Do anything you wanna do
      5. Space - The ballad of Tom Jones ( which is super on point for this week 😄 )
Yeah , brilliant idea Zabria ✅ cheers 🍻

This one took me over a year before it started creeping up my playlist. Sounded too frantic, like a wall of noise that I couldn’t decipher. Couldn’t feel a groove. Band Maid writes complex, layered stuff and experiments with sounds. Even their latest, “Shambles” went right through me. That one took over a month before I could follow it.
Other music listeners absolutely love this song right out of the gate. People hear things differently.
Which makes me think the Hanier Family will immediately like “Shambles.”

I had the same reaction to Rinne. I didn't care for it at first but once I caught on to Miku's slides in the second verse, I started liking it a lot. It's in my top ten now. Shambles, on the other hand, I liked right away.

Not everyone get Band-Maid. I could listen to them all day long, usually those less commercial sounding songs with distinctive note choices and quirks. Fans will give any song a listen, with the best headphones to boot - and others just don't. Of course they don't get what we do. I'm an easily bored person and even though they do have generic, radio-friendly songs as well, most of their songs are very idiosyncratic and I love them to bits.

You need to pronounce the "e" at the end of "Rinne". It is not silent. Use the "e" sound as in "get", "set", "pet" , etc.
