The biggest problem with testing and balancing, after everything is said and done it’s generally a waste of money. I used to do HVAC work and worked for a testing and balancing company. After a while, I realized all I was doing was just pi$$ing in the wind! We would go in to a building (sometimes a brand new building) and set everything up to the engineering specifications only to come back and check everything a few months later and see that the customers had completely readjusted everything we did! Some customers would complain they were too cold, others would gripe they were too hot and what would they do? Go in and tinker with the settings, dampers, shut off valves, etc. causing everything to run in efficiently in the process.
Of course, the video you have here is good and very informative and I don’t mean to gloss over nor kick what you do to the curb but it’s a lot of money wasted to go through all the hullabaloo of setting something up to come back and have somebody screw it up again!

For the love of God please stop with the twiddley xylophone backround music. Your content and presentation are excellent, but I turn up the volume a little bit to hear what you’re saying and all I can hear is the repeating super annoying insanity xylophone. I’m not here to listen to backround music, I’m here for your content. Drop the music and your videos will improve 100%.

I agree with the annoyance of the background music…true…but here’s another truth: what you’re getting is FREE! Beggars can’t be choosers.

TAB certified contractor here. 20 years in and own my business. Have been in TABB, AABC, and NEBB. These airflow measurements are horribly wrong, and I urge people to not use this as correct information.

Thanks for the feedback - I have since removed the background music on all videos going forward. I received some poor advice early on, and responded to this one many times...I understand a lot of viewers listen to these on commutes as well! Thanks for watching, hoping the latest videos better meet you expectations!!!

The music is louder than the speech. Not suitable for a tecgnical presentation. Would have been OK for an elevator lobby. Could not listen to the end.

I'm a certified TAB engineer with 26 years experience and own my own TAB company since 2007. I made it half way through the video and stopped watching. About half of this presentation is incorrect and does not align with NEBB, AABC, or TABB procedural standards for Test and Balance. Anyone looking for T&B information needs to look into one of those three organizations and follow their training.

Thanks for commenting Da Prophet. I am sorry I may not have been clear in the video, but we discuss the methods and procedures per ACCA Manual B, for residential balancing - particularly retrofit duct applications. Although I am vaguely familiar with some of your mentioned organizations and what they teach, I know ACCA does differ. Thanks for your opinion, and although your methods are different, ACCA Manual B is not ’incorrect’…

@@HVACProBlog You were clear that was your source. Unfortunately, the source you site is not recommended nor recognized by any reputable TAB certification program or certified TAB firm. I would encourage you to look into one of the sources I suggested to gain a proper understanding of how to not only measure CFM and GPM accurately in the field, but relearn the procedures and TAB equipment we use to provide a properly TAB'd environmental system. They have TAB technician manuals for home study and some offer in person classes depending on your location. Learn how professional Balancer's perform this trade and then compare and contrast to what ACCA. Then you will see where and why ACCA is incorrect in regards to this discipline. Good luck.
