- For centuries, Aru pearls have been renowned for their purity and beauty. They are the most precious resource of these remote islands.
From September to November, Babar dives for oysters, using a traditional, ancestral method.
All these oysters are sold to specialized farms, where they are operated on. After this delicate operation, they are gathered together and permitted to age peacefully in the water and produce pearls.

Hi slice, it's funny to watch this documentary. My ancestors travels thousands of miles only to take the shell of the pearl. The value of the shell in my community is price less. It can bought life, bride, land and amongst many other thing.

I hope safety becomes more of a priority, if I was a wealthy man I would assist with good Oxygen equipment or any thing else to help the remove the danger they face when diving. It's pleasant to observe people still living that kind of simply life. Away from the hutsel and bustle of a city.
Very true a simple life is good ☺️ Kathyrn
They have good equipment- scuba gear. Apparently they need training for properly and safely using it
Oxygen for tanks is in very short supply currently
Such a cool video.watching these guys do just about everything off of there homade skiffs right down to cooking and resting around an open wood fire aboard there wood skiff
Full support..
The exchange rate used in this video was from way back before Suharto fell in 1998. In 1997 the exchange rate was roughly 2,000 Rupiah to $ 1 United States dollar. Currently in April 2023 the exchange rate is 15,000 Rupiah per $ 1.00 U.S. dollar. These people make very little for their hard work.
😇
Very like your video👍👍👍

judging from the 20000 banknote, this documentary should be 20 years old, at least.
Salam dari Indonesia
I feel like most of these documentaries were made decades ago tho..so much can happen in time like people adopting new lifestyles that usually bring more pollution and corruption etc...
Wow❤❤❤🇦🇫🇦🇫🇦🇫❤❤❤iom from Afghanistan
Sinse when diving with scuba gear was the traditional way?
wheres the pearl?
LOL...inside of the oysters. They cannot open the shell until it's mature.
So beautiful video ! i want to buy bulk natural pearls from you, could you give me good prices ?
Great video. you've remind me of what someone once said❤️ "The mind is the man, the poor is in it and the rich is it too". This sentence is the secret of most successful investors. I once attended similar and ever since then i been waxing strong financially, and i most tell you the truth..

must be late 90's or early 2000's based on the money they use to trade early in the documentary.

Tahun berapa?
ITS Ferry funny your documentary vidio
This is very old documentary
The money they used are the 1992 edition
Can these oysters be farmed? you they don't have to get so many oysters from the wild.
How deep is it sir.
They make $35 per month wow
China man paying guy cents compared to what he sells 4 smh
The math never checks out. 6 oysters a day at 3 bucks a piece? But only 35 bucks a month? That doesn't even cover fuel for the boat.
Old video documentary? I see the old money Indonesian Rupiah at 1:09
I believe this documentary from 90s
ty..xoxo 🥰🖐👍🤟✌🤪
