Уточнение - Is the concept of "purchasing power parity" - is that for 1000$ in Russia, you can buy an analogue product, which in the US is 3000-5000$, so the cost of the film (the cost in rubles) is much higher 13000000$ (if to consider as the ruble - dollar!) It is not clear how you got the figure of 13000000 (despite the fact that the current exchange rate of the ruble/dollar - 61rub/1$), because officially announced that the movie spent 1200000000 rubles(!) it is very big money!

This movie claims it is based on historic events. Perhaps. However, the depiction of the steppe nomads, the Pechenegs, is grossly inadequate. Their faces are covered, only the "kaghan" (Pechenegs never had a kaghan, because they never had kaghanate) reveals his face. With all due respect for the talented Kazakh actor Jaydarbek Kunguzhinov, his ancestors, Merkits, Mangyts, Jalairs etc., arrived in Kazakhstan with Genghis-khan and Juchi. That is why Mr. Kunguzhinov is Mongoloid.
The actual Pechenegs were not Mongoloid, just like the modern Turks, Crimean and Kazan Tatars are not Mongoloid. If you wish to know how the historical Pechenegs looked like, look no further:

мля.. сходил на эту поделку.. 1.Декорации нормальные .2 Игра актеров не о чем...3. Сюжета как такого нет, весь смысл о том какие славяне были грязными варвара, человеческие жертвоприношения, изнасилования и т.д. Потом Володимир приобщился к светлой вере и все славяне потянулись с радостными улыбками креститься.. весь фильм ткмный, грязь, кровь, дым, но как только попярская тема пошла картинка стала светлой и красивой.. короче Гундяев одобряет :-) Ну и глав продюсер Константин Эрнст постарался , молодежи мозги промывают.. короче фильм полное гумно что с исторической стороны, что с развлекательной... жидки гнут свою линию...

What propaganda? Have you seen the movie? Vikings are speaking Old Norse, they even have a Swedish actor in it. Vladimir of course spoke Russian, as at this point in history Rurikovich dynasty was assimilated to Slavic culture. The only propaganda present in the movie is pro-Christian and anti-pagan one.

What? I didn't claim that Vladimir is a typical scandinavian name. I said that Rurik and Vikings came to Russia, founded a first Russian state, Kievan Rus, but they assimilated after few centuries. As of pro-christian propaganda - people are complaining about that, not me. I think as you do - in modern times media tries to portray christianity in the worst way possible, so it's good change. That Viking series you mention - have you seen the last episode? Floki had no problems with killing christians and priest in season 1, but now he's admiring muslims and protects them from slaughter. По факту - полный шлак. В кои то веки решил довериться русскому кино и пойти на отечественный фильм, и такое разочарование. Сценарий - ужасен, нелогично, плохо связанно, мотивация абсурдная. Так обманули трейлерами!

+Павел Моисеев Сложно это в таком формате - коммент на ютубе. Кратко так. Им нужно было загнать 11-летний период богатый на события в 2 часовой фильм. Это сложно. Тогда они решили сделать псевдоисторию-лайт, и совершенно не справились с этой задачей - у персонажей нет внятной логики, мотивации, все противоречиво, поверхностно, лубочно. Можно с примерами, но это надо долго писать, а ты должен знать фильм. Картинка не плохая, за то как снят фильм не стыдно. Сам решай идти или нет. Я когда шел с сеанса - в душу как плюнули и сапогом сверху ебнули. Но это я так по трейлерам настроился - они их так сверстали, что я себе всякого хорошего понапридумывал.

Потому что я ценю эпоху Владимира, считаю, что именно при нем Русь стала полноценным государством. Мне очень хотелось увидеть качественный, полноценный фильм об этом. Разумеется, я понимал, что будет та или иная степень неисторичности/псевдоисторичности, видел это по трейлерам. Но что она будет НАСТОЛЬКО такой, был не готов.
