Finally a brilliant practical tutorial that explains the mystery of a psu to newcomers like me! Absolutely marvelous! Thank you and continue to make videos
I am thinking about purchasing this pro cable kit today to make my rig look better. Would the cables included in this be suitable to power my RTX 4080 suprim x to my corsair shift series rm1000x PSU? I am new to all this as you can probably tell. I recently watched another video where a guy used corsairs type 4 600w pcie gen 5 12vhpwr dc power cable which connected to his 4090 to this PSU. is this same cable included in this pro kit or do i need to buy this other one as well?
Except it doesn't. There's an ATX 8 pin cable, and 2 CPU cables. This doesn't explain which we should be using. My mobo doesn't seem to have CPU power. It has the 24 pin connector, and the ATX 12V 2x4. So which do I use? The cpu cables, plugged into the cpu ports? Or the atx cable into the mobo ports on the PSU? I'm guessing the latter but I can't find confirmation anywhere because the manual for this PSU is so unbelievably useless Last time I ever buy corsair. Never would've if cultists didn't rate this psu so highly.
great video! i bought the rmx shift for my O11D and its perfect. since the O11D has the PSU mounted on its side, having all the cables go up made the cable management so much easier
Come sempre, fantastico, hai spiegato appieno e in modo esaustivo le caratteristiche e mi hai tolto i miei dubbi - As always, fantastic, you have fully and exhaustively explained the features and removed my doubts
I got this psu months ago for my build that I'm trying to put together slowly since I cant afford all the components all at once and I was disappointed because I got something which I thought was wrong and wont work with my case. I don't make builds often so I wasn't sure it would work. this video was what I needed to tell me that I could most likely make it work. I'm using the lian li o11 dynamic evo, ill update how the build goes. thanks for the videos as always.
Very nearly went for this (1200w shift) but in the end stuck with what I've been happy with in the past and bought a Seasonic Vertex. Cheers for the review :)

Thanks for creating this video! I just bought this very specific power supply and its nice seeing a visual representation before cracking my case open and replacing my Corsair 650w. P.S. I had no idea this power supply included a direct connection power cable for my new Gigabyte 4070 GPU!
Ironically that 4070 series cable was broken in the box, so I had to use my adapter. A clip going to one of the power supply outlets was broken off and the clip that goes to the GPU was broken off. Hope the warranty will grant me a replacement.@@TheProvokedPrawn
Hello, sorry, as it says on the page, "it must be at least 210 mm (8.3") wide" so that there are no problems with the cables, it refers to when the cabinet specifications say: "Box size : 446 mm x 285 mm x 430 mm (length x width x height)" or in which part exactly is the one that mentions the length of the back part
This Corsair Shift PSU is tailor made for the Thermaltake new CTE line of PC cases. Cable management with an upturned motherboard is ridiculously easy and easy to access
Great video. Nice system. I'm installing the Corsair Shift 1000x in an old 2012 Corsair Graphite Series 600T CC600TM tower case...and it definitely isn't built for today's setups. And, I'm getting a liquid-cooled 4090 with literally nowhere to mount the radiator (CPU has a radiator at the top). Lucky for me, this is a huge case and I can make it work, but I'll likely have to keep the side panel off because stuff will be hanging out of the side. Maybe it's time to upgrade the case.
Nice overview. Bought the Shift 1000w about a month ago for my NZXT H7 Flow case which thankfully it fit into perfectly. Good idea to have the cables from the side as no more hastle with removing the PSU when you add or need to remove a cable, though some cases may not be good for these PSU's. Also got the sleeved cables and it does a great job in making everything look good. It also helps with cable management as the sleeved cables are so much easier to handle. Runs very quiet!
Bro thank you so much lmfao I bought this thing and I didn’t even know it came on the sides because I didn’t really research the power supplies and what do you know you are getting the same case I am phew thank you bro
Wonderful video! I feel so much more confident for when my parts all come in. If i may ask, when plugging in my gpu, I need 3 wires. I saw that theres two separate areas labled pcie/cpu and you instructed that we plug in the gpu 8 pins into the pcie/cpu. Is it okay to plug them in either side? Since I need three seperate cables and it looks like theres only two plug ins on the side that you used, is it okay if I pluf the third one into the left side pcie/cpu? Again, thank you for this very helpful video.
Thanks for making the video. Your'e vid's helps us a lot. Ther great to watch. Just a note. The PSU says that you need type 4 cables, and in your hand you have type 5. You can watch this between minutes 3:02 and 3:26. Maybe a misprint on the PSU?
Thanks for the review and installation tips. I am replacing the PSU in my daughter’s 5000D case. Do you think the pro cables are worth the extra money?
@@TheProvokedPrawn Thanks for getting back to me. I’ll probably buy them this week. I had sleeved cables with my RM1000i Special Edition PSU from Corsair and they were really nice.
I double checked this and Corsair says "We don't sell or produce 450W cables...RMx Shift, Type 5 PSUs, and any ATX 3.0 PSUs at any wattage come with a 12VHPWR600W cable as standard, that will support all of the current 4000 series cards. So if your system spec falls in line with requiring less than 1000W under load with a 4090 in it (I'd always recommend a minimum of 10% headroom). You can order a 1000W PSU safe in the knowledge that it'll come with a 12VHPWR600W cable."
Thank you your the first video out of a few that answered my question on whether I should use two separate cables or one with the pigtail on the GPU because I also coincidentally have a gigabyte 3090 OC so thank you
Hi Prawn. I'm about to buy this kit for the RM1200x shift. I was wondering how the cables has held up for you? No issues with the 12vhpwr or any of the others?😊
Ty for the great video again ! I have simple question, Can i use (CORSAIR 600W PCIe 5.0 / Gen 5 12VHPWR Type-4 PSU Power Cable), on (RM 750 2021 type4 White)& rtx (4070 non Ti version) which cable wasnt included but planning to buy and remove the adapter and the mess ... so i was wondering if its save and will it work fine with that PSU and Gpu together TY in advance !
Ok I found this great. On the 12vhpwr cable to the psu, does it matter if the smaller sense cables are out or inward? and it doesn't have to be those 2 plugs? I got the 4070 Super vs the non-super and it has the new 12vhpwr connector. I was just using the adapter.. I didn't realize my Rm850x shift had one included. I love these shift psus! Why did it take so long for these to come out!
thanks for the video! it’s very helpful. i do have a question. i’ve been installing the rm1200x and the included screws don’t seem to screw all the way in. does anyone know why this would be the case? is it okay to leave it how it is or should they screw all the way in?
This maybe a stupid question. Obviously you need to buy a power supply cable kit with the correct cables you need. But when you buy a cable kit, do you need to buy a specific one or can you just buy any cable kit and it'll work exactly like the cables that come with the power supply?
Recommend buying a cable kit from the same manufacturer unless it's just extensions. Otherwise the only thing you need to watch out for is type 4 or type 5 cables, as they're different so you need to match to your PSU type
Hi I was wondering if you had another similar PSU with 1000w with pretty much the same cables and the premium cables kit thing. A link will be highly appreciated
I have the 1200 shift and was considering using the pro kit but I wanted more combs . Will any comb set fit the Corsair pro kit because I searched & searched for type 5 cable combs and couldn’t find any. What’s your advice?
I accidentally scratched the case (outside) of my PSU 😭 so now it has white stripes on the black finish but I don’t think that it’s gonna affect the performance
hi there and thanks for the vid .I just purchased the same psu new and i noticed some very tiny scratches on the 24pin, and pcie cable, the surface of the cables arent very smooth i dont know if this is normal or not.
if i purchased this pro cable kit (the starter kit only comes with one cpu cable which is annoying) does this include all the cables id need to power my rtx 4080? I know there is a separate cable which is called type 4 600w corsair pcie gen 5 12vhpwr DC power cable. this cable has two connectors on it that plug into my graphics card as apposed to the nvidia adapter which has three. Does the pro cable kit include this cable or should i buy that cable as well as the pro cable kit?
I'm looking to use this PSU. is it able to provide 600w to the 4090 series with the 12+4 pin cable I know the 1200w PSU does provide 600 watt and it's printed on the head of the cable. I believe that the 850w PSU can only provide 450watt, so since you have it in your hands does the 1000w PSU say it's 600 watt or is it also 450w? thanks both for all your great video's and providing so much information to our community as a whole.
I got the rm1000w 2019 version version. But we'll be upgrading to this one because of the high core count C. P u, Do I need to replace decables or can I use my existing ones?
5 years ago I purchased the same RM1000x gold series which came in better packing and thermocol inside one is better .. but this one carboard looks cheap .. now I RMA the newer one so I got this newer product ..I feel cheap .. hopefully it works better than before one -_-
Sooooo, what kind of case is this? Looking in with the side panel off the "back" of the case is to the right yet all of my server cases have the back to the left. Issue being that this power supply doesn't fit in my 15 drive raid server. If it's not a simple parts switch I'm going to have to drill holes in the top of my existing case so the fan for the power supply isn't covered. What should I be looking for instead?
Is it normal that my RM850x corsair shift psu has only 22 pin motherboard connecter, 2 connectors and the cables are not there only 22 pins and cables ??
How easy does the cpu 8 pin cables bend with the additional cable purchase kit from Corsair? I have hardly any clearance to run the stock psu cables that way with a 360mm aio from corsair with their af fans in the same case… so I ran them around the front it looks trash.
@@TheProvokedPrawn thanks for the detailed videos, and responding to me! I also have the same aio. I have a tuf intel board. I debated on trying to bend the 8pin cpu stock cables but I might just get the premium cable kit if you believe that it be easier. Are you using the stock af fans with that aio?
Sorry if you covered this in the video but does it come with 3x 8pin PCIE cables for the gpu? I'm thinking of getting this for the 7900 xtx@@TheProvokedPrawn
Is the cabling done like that for most Motherboards? I was wondering if it’s safe for me to follow every step the exact same way if I have a MSI Pro motherboard (z790)
Mate I am absolutely baffed. I have the RMX shift series 1000x fully modular ATX power supply but I’ve just spent £110.00 on wrong cables 😂. It clearly states on my PSU ‘designed for use with genuine Corsair type 4 cable sets only’ all of these cables are TYPE 5. Why would Corsair print on this PSU the wrong information!? Also because I’ve got the LIAN li o11 vision I have to mount this PSU with the fan facing towards the back of the case with the cables facing up towards the top of the case. I hope this is okay!
@@pigreatlor oh, works magnificently. Just has to face a different direction than what Corsair built it for I think. The fan has to face the exterior of the vision case as that’s where the mesh is allowing for airflow. Only downside to this is the cables have to come directly upright. I removed both of my hard drive cages anyway so it didn’t bother me. On a side note bro did you receive rubber silicone grommets for your low motherboard option??
Hello sir, i just bought one of these PSU with type 5 connector but i wish to connect with my RGB motherboard cable and gpu cable, but they are both type 4, i been dying to search online but could not find any adaptors or connecters to convert type 5 slot to type 4 slot, where can i find them ?
I'm not sure if I should find it funny or be concerned about the fact the power supply as a label right below all the connections saying: "Designed for use with genuine Corsair TYPE 4 cable sets only"... (They are clearly type 5)

Do you recommend this PSU despite its date release in 2021?
You're looking at an incorrect model. This is the *Corsair Rm1000x SHIFT.* It is ATX 3.0, it was only released earlier this year.
How do I use this with a 3090 and the pcie cables? Do I have to split them or can I use another pcie slot anywhere
Just bought that psu and can't use it with my case :( my case has a tray the psu sits in and blocks most the plug ins
Bring out the dremel!
Any Fractal Design Mesifhy 2 owner over here?? Just wondering if this PSU will fit on that case as I'm thinking of picking it
Is it ok for te psu fan facing down?
Do these still come together on Corsair site as of today?
do the type 4 gen 4 sleeved cables work to?
Is it normal that my RM850x corsair shift psu has only 22 pin motherboard connecter, 2 connectors and the cables are not there only 22 pins and cables ??
How easy does the cpu 8 pin cables bend with the additional cable purchase kit from Corsair? I have hardly any clearance to run the stock psu cables that way with a 360mm aio from corsair with their af fans in the same case… so I ran them around the front it looks trash.
The premium kit is much or flexible
@@TheProvokedPrawn thanks for the detailed videos, and responding to me! I also have the same aio. I have a tuf intel board. I debated on trying to bend the 8pin cpu stock cables but I might just get the premium cable kit if you believe that it be easier. Are you using the stock af fans with that aio?
Sorry if you covered this in the video but does it come with 3x 8pin PCIE cables for the gpu? I'm thinking of getting this for the 7900 xtx@@TheProvokedPrawn
can you also add pomp to the sata/pata cable?
que excelente video muchas gracias
Does the white model come with white cables?
Yes they do
So the new icue link hub has a female 6-pin pcie. I'd use the 6+2male and the 8port psu end where 2 slots are empty and missing pins? That's a 6pin?
I need help will this fit in a Corsair one?
I wonder how this PSU does with voltage ripple compared to the regular rm series, these don't seem have the caps/filters in the cables.
Alas I don't have the knowledge or hardware to test that
Does this thing come with the two cables for a 7900xtx?
I can’t find any that fit??
Is the cabling done like that for most Motherboards? I was wondering if it’s safe for me to follow every step the exact same way if I have a MSI Pro motherboard (z790)
Yes probably, cause still a motherboard.
Yes, they're mostly all the same nowadays 👍
@@TheProvokedPrawn okay thank you 👍
Mate I am absolutely baffed.
That is very odd and frustrating. Hope you can get it sorted.
did it work? i have the same case and psu lmao
@@pigreatlor did what work bro? I had a handful of initial issues with my PC components haha
@@James-fv1cm the psu inside the o11 vision
@@pigreatlor oh, works magnificently. Just has to face a different direction than what Corsair built it for I think. The fan has to face the exterior of the vision case as that’s where the mesh is allowing for airflow. Only downside to this is the cables have to come directly upright. I removed both of my hard drive cages anyway so it didn’t bother me. On a side note bro did you receive rubber silicone grommets for your low motherboard option??
Do i use the screwsthat came with my 4000d to screw it in i dont think it cane with any screws
There should be some in the box but if not yes, the ones that came with the case are fine. Use the hexagon topped screws
According to the corsair website this PSU has type 4 cables. linked is a type 5 cable set. Does that really work?
new shift uses type 5
Hello sir, i just bought one of these PSU with type 5 connector but i wish to connect with my RGB motherboard cable and gpu cable, but they are both type 4, i been dying to search online but could not find any adaptors or connecters to convert type 5 slot to type 4 slot, where can i find them ?
nice vid, thx
Annoyingly the sleeved cable kits are basically unobtainable in the UK atm...Out of stock everywhere and not available on Amazon or Corsairs site.
My psu fan isnt spinning, also cant find this psu in ICUE what do i do
Any idea why my audio is getting pops/crackles after installing this power supply?
My motherboard has a 12 pin(8-4) but my psu cpu cable is 8-8 should i plug just half of it for second cable to use 8-4? or 8 is okay?
Legend
👍🏼
So why can’t i just plug in the 3rd pcie into the other side that says pcie
What’s the 3rd connector in the motherboard section of the psu for?
im wondering the same thing, anyone know?
when i use the split cable, for a 7800xt (2x8) its normal to have crashes?
Always better to use individual cables for each connection
Can I use the cable kit with a nzxt c850 power supply?
It's not recommended to mix cables from different manufacturers. You could use extension cables though (like Cablemod ones) if it's all about looks?
@@TheProvokedPrawn I’ll just buy a Corsair psu instead 😂 thnx for the response ! 👌🏼
I wish this came in a 550 watt version
my rm1000x didn't come with a dedicated 12 pin :(
Doe these cables work with the rm850e?
Does it support type 5? If yes, then yes. If no, then no
I'm not sure if I should find it funny or be concerned about the fact the power supply as a label right below all the connections saying: "Designed for use with genuine Corsair TYPE 4 cable sets only"...
(They are clearly type 5)
@10:09 is this cable good enough? i feel like i had more fps on my 1070ti than i have on my 4080? can someone help why is that?
Update ur graphic drivers
