- This is part 1 of making a hybrid mermaid tail (both fabric and silicone)! I'll take you through the steps I took to create the tail.
In this video you'll see me make a leg sleeve from performance fabric and a monofin from a pair of bi-fins, plastic shelf liner, and eva foam. Stay turned for part II to see the rest of the build!
Disclaimer: I am not a professional, this tail is a photography prop.

I'm a pro mermie & I must say that I LOOOOVE how you used the plastic at the ends of the flippers! Excited for de next video!!!
Thank you so much! The plastic gives the tail such realistic movement in the water!
watched ur tutorials backward so saw the second one first, as a full silicone tail owner i will definitly be trying this. I wish i would have seen these tutorials before spending so much money!!!
Professional silicone mer-tails are definitely worth it, but it is rewarding to create your own too!
Omg I watched them over 100 times can you make more
OMG I love this mermaid tail!!! It's the best
You could also sand the two surfaces that you need to glue and they should stick.
Thanks for your suggestion! I did try that off camera, but alas it still didn't want to adhere the rubber and plastic!
This is awesome
Thank you!
I want to know too what did you use for the edges of the fluke thank you pretty
How many silicone tubes did your mermaid tail use?
is there any reason you didnt glue the shelf plastic on top of each other for a thicker tail? do you think it would be too stiff?
It could be worth a shot, I wanted more movement since the flippers are so stiff.
How did the silicone hold up overtime? Did it eventually peel off?
It doesn't peel on the fabric, but there was a small amount of lift at the bottom of the fluke. It adhered again with a dab of silicone.
hello I loved it ♥ ️ where can I get that black tape that you placed on the edge of the plastic
Thank you! That is a tubing for gas that can be found in stores like lowes or home depot!
I'm sorry but it doesn't look realistic
have you seen part 2?
