A REAL-LIFE mermaid has turned her passion for mythical creatures into full-time work. Elle Jimenez or 'Mermaid Elle', from Miami Beach, is a certified full-time professional mermaid and underwater performer. Growing up, Elle was fascinated by mermaids but never thought to invest in the idea until 2016 when she tried on a mermaid’s tail for the first time and dived into a world of magic. Since then, she started working in mermaid entertainment services; underwater performances and offering professional mermaid training. Elle admits that being a mermaid is not as easy as it may look: “Being a mermaid is hard. It takes a lot of work physically. It's also acting. And also this swimming aspect of it, how to swim safely.” Mermaid Elle is also an advocate for ocean conservation and strives to promote awareness on how to protect oceans with her project "Mermaid Elle #SavingTheSeas". She told Truly: “The one thing I love about mermaids is that they just represent this beautiful concept of nature and they protect their home. They protect their pod. I love the empowerment that mermaids represent and the conservation aspect of what a mermaid is. It’s a Mer Maid. It's the servant of the sea.”

This is by far the best episode of Hooked on the Look! She's not delusional, is promoting positive messages, is passionate about the environment, and seemingly has incredibly healthy, loving relationships with her family and friends. The fact that she's stunning is just icing on the cake! I also love how she talks about the education and preparation that goes into her job!

I adore the fact that she made a point about safety. A few years back when these were popular with kids there were a lot of issues because you really have to be a strong swimmer or train yourself to swim like that.

I tried my friend's a long time ago. It was really hard to put on and I nearly sank to the bottom. Though I got the hang of it and was able to swim. So yes definitely agree.
you have to learn how to dolphin kick, and some tails have a quick release method as well
All I can think of is how physically hard her job must be - swimming under water with that heavy fin without any breathing gear, while acting and being beautiful and graceful.
I do this as a hobby and the tail isn't heavy in the water, but it is a bit heavy on land. The tails are designed to have neutral boyancy in the water or even float on their own. The rest is definitely work!
Her core is strong as hell.

I used to pretend I was a mermaid and bound my legs together with a pool ring on my ankles. I was a really strong swimmer and it was soooo hard I never went deeper than 5 feet because I wanted to make sure I could come up for air. The sheer amount of physicality to do this is amazing.

Can I know how do you keep your eyes open while diving , swimming , in the aquarium etc.?..Btw thats incredibly amazing 👏 😍
They just open their eyes, but can't see really good. Another mermaid performer I saw online said that she opens her eyes but can't see much of the people behind the glass, when she performs at an aquarium. Otherwise I would say she wears goggles in the ocean and takes them off for photoshoots or videos.
