Every single one of those diabolical playground masterpieces were found on our elementary school playground of the early 1960's. At 70, I still have scars on my knees from coming to a hard landing on the asphalt more than once. This came with a lightning approach down the scorching hot metal slide, after we'd slicked it down with the wax paper we'd saved from our lunch boxes. We didn't even have a school nurse to tend to our wounds. I kept a box of the king size band-aids in my desk.
Charlie, you are the best! As a single girl, this entire compilation really helped me to fine hone what it is I'm looking for in a man. (Or not.) Happy new year to you!
Hey Charlie i got some stuff from my mom from you like a ope shirt watch out of deer shirt and a ope sign. I thought it was pretty cool that i got a free disc that was signed im lising to it to!
Absolutely enjoyed watching these in 2024! Funny enough, I have a flannel I bought in Dyersville, Iowa that looks exactly like the one that "Playgrounds Then Guy" wears in the 1st skit. The Midwest Survival Guide also came in the clutch for studying up on the Midwest this year as I just got back from Iowa checking out Pella's Christmas market, going to Iowa City to see Kinnick Stadium, and seeing the Field of Dreams in Dyersville! Used the famous "it'd be a lot warmer if it wasn't for the wind" line more than I care to mention lol.
School playgrounds in Detroit in the sixties when I was in school wasn’t asphalt , it was ground slag from the foundry’s!! It was great stayed put and no weeds grew in it. Then somebody checked the material and it was loaded with HEAVY METALS😵💫😵💫🤪🤪. Took em a few years to dig it out and replace with asphalt 👍
Happy New Year, Charlie! Last year, I studied the pronunciation of Wisconsin on your RUclips channel. This year, I want to visit America and see your tour! From Japan❤
Watching these videos never gets old. My favortie thus far has to be the playground one though. It perfectly encapsulates the drastic change in playground design since I was a kid. The school playground had rocks and asphalt for the ground. Many were the injuries caused by a kid tripping and falling on those rocks. Nowadays, the playground at the local school has wood chips and they've gotten rid of the tire swings. There still an old sheet metal slide out by the local pool though.
I grew up in premodern playgrounds as described. See-saws were killer: 12"X2" oak planks, probably 14' or 16' long. There was a bracket with 3 notches in the middle to adjust the balance, making: • one end of the see-saw too heavy to use • the see-saw perfectly balanced, as long as you and your friend weren't sitting on it • the other end of the see-saw too heavy to use Gotta say, modern slides and swings don't hold a candle to the old ones. They're so lame, even if they are usable on sunny days...
Hey Charlie.. Don't know how I got your videos in my feed, but sure love it, hilarious and spot on, brings me back to Van Buren county, MI😂 Happy New Year and looking forward to more great videos from you in 2025 👍 ❤ from Barcelona 🇪🇦
Met this guy in a coffee shop in my town.
He was extremely polite. Shook my hand and stood when I introduced myself. Thanks Charlie!
Happy New Year, Charlie! Thank you for bringing so much desperately needed hilarity to 2024.
