    ➤➤Transcript (partial):
Rule number 2 is “treat yourself like you're someone that you care about.” See, I read this piece of work by Jung a long while back. It was a meditation on the injunction to treat your neighbor as-as you would like to be treated, something like that. And what you pointed out, which I really liked, was that that wasn't an injunction to be nice to other people. It was an invitation to reciprocity. It was something like this. It's like you should figure out how you would like to be treated, like you were taking care of yourself, not how you would like people to respond to you. It's more important than that. It's like, imagine you had a child that you really cared for and someone said, well, people will treat this child exactly like you want them to, but you have to figure out what that is. And so then you'd have to sit down for like a month and you'd think, okay, well, how do you want your child to be treated? You don't want everyone just to be nice to him, you know? You want people to challenge him and you want people to discipline him and you want people to tell him when he's wrong. It's like, you don't just want everyone to be nice. That's-that's pathetic. It's pathetic. There's no challenge in that. And so, well, you want to treat other people like you would like to be treated. Well, then you have to figure out how would you like to be treated? And well, you'd like people to fawn all over you and just lay everything at your feet. It's like, no. That's not something you'd wish for for someone that you were taking care of. Then there's an additional problem, which is it's often the case that people will treat other people better than they treat themselves. That happens extremely frequently. So one of the things I pointed out in Chapter 2 was that if you have a dog and you take him to a vet and the vet gives you the prescription medicine, you'll go buy the medicine and you will give it to the dog and you will do it properly. But if you go yourself to a doctor and you get a prescription, there's a 30% chance you won't even pick up the medication. And if you do, there's a 50% chance that you won't administer it to yourself properly. And so I really thought about that when I first came across that statistic, it really-it was another one of those little facts. I thought, “What the hell is up with that?” It's like, you'll do it for your dog. So obviously you'll do it for something you care about and you're conscientious enough so you'll actually do it. So like, why wouldn't you do it for you? Your dog likes you. You know, even your dog would rather that you did, but you don't. And it's not only because they don't take care of themselves. There's some skepticism about doctors, but you could be just as skeptical about the vet. So it's a deep meditation. I would say. And what I've done with these rules is they're very simple rules and they're-they’re kind of comical and tongue in cheek in some ways. But what I've tried to do is like, pull them apart and show what's underneath them and to go down as deep as I possibly can. In Rule 2, it's a bit of a meditation on why people don't like themselves very much, and I think there's two reasons really. And one is that we're-we're fragile and damage able and...

Gosh, not only does Jordan give you good advice that could really help, man doesn't serve it to you softly- he pushes it into you with harsh and bold but true words. The harshness makes you actually think, unlike therapy in some ways.

Saving typically results in you earning a lower return but with virtually no risk. In contrast, investing allows you the opportunity to earn a higher return, but you take on the risk of loss in order to do so. Not reaching a million before retirement feels like an unfulfilled retirement.

I've come to realize that the key to amassing wealth lies in making sound investments. I purchased my first home at the age of 21 for $87,000 and sold it for $197,000. My second home, acquired for $170,000, was later sold for $320,000, and my third property, purchased at $300,000, fetched $589,000, with buyers covering all closing costs and expenses..

We are flawed. But ppl who watch this are self reflectiv. But if other ppl are flawed too, than there is no real connection. So why should I straighten myself out, if the only person who understands, are ppl in the same boat? You would have to unflaw your partner as well. And that seems kinda impossible.

Making the effort is the opening into caring for self and others. Modeling the outer behaviors is a start. Acting "AS IF" is what trains us and we begin to care and love. Waiting until we can respect ourselves is not very productive....Best to start trying it.

When Jesus stated: "Love your neighbor as yourself" - he meant that you should have equal concern for the comfort of your neighbor as you have for your own.
It also means that whatever you wish on to other people you would be happy to have wished on yourself in like manner.
It means that you must think the thoughts about others which you would be happy for them to think about you!
It means that your entire consciousness should be directed at caring, concern for others, no matter what they may be doing hurtful against yourself. All human beings are living in a jungle of human desires, goals, frailties, disappointments, angers and frustrations. Out of this war-torn consciousness come many weak and ill-judged responses and actions.
Therefore, behold the frailty, forgive the unkindness and let it go back into the nothingness out of which it came. The only TRUTH and REALITY in life is Universal Consciousness Intelligence/Love. Hold fast to this realisation at all times.

How to treat yourself better ... is to stop believing that a god exists that is watching and judging your every thought and deed.
Mentally, I wasn't at all able to leave religion behind until I was 70 years of age, as I figured that if most people on earth believed that the universe was created, it just had to be true.
Then I heard about the scientist Stephen Hawking's theory ... about the universe having no beginning and no end ... and that made sense to me. That dispelled the creator myth ... no creator ... no plan involved ... and I then could believe that energy and consciousness always existed … and that suffering of all forms of life ... is natural.

@Rose Madrid We were all indoctrinated.
If, as children, we were indoctrinated by the following information, rather than being taught that suffering for wicked souls exists in a supposed afterlife, we would not have any fear of death.
From the book Medicine Madams and Mounties … Stories of a Yukon Doctor * 1933-1947 … Death is the final sleep … The Indians I met were used to death and dying. They saw it daily as they slaughtered and trapped animals for their livelihood. For them everything had its time, ending in death, and they could not understand our fear of dying. “Why do white people fear death?” they often asked me. “Nobody fears the onset of the unconsciousness called sleep yet you are afraid of the final sleep, death.”

    • @junevandermark952
      @junevandermark952 Год назад

@Rose Madrid “Some people are offended by equality” … author Ricky Gervais.
I suggest that people in religion are offended at the idea that a god exists that treats everyone as being equal in worth.
Devotees all seem to want to believe that a god sees them as being special and saved … while they believe that the same god sees others as being unsalvageable evil sinners.
All things being equal ... religion is NOT good.

@@saizoishida2446 I'm an Atheist and if I was starving to death, I might prey on other unfortunate humans ... but I would not pray for help to a deity that I don't believe exists, as that would be comparable to a child begging Santa for a gift.
I used to believe that the universe was created ... but when I read about ancient and modern scientists believing that the universe always existed ... that theory made much more sense to me than that the universe was created.
No creator ... no plan ... means that suffering of all forms of life ... is natural ... other than how we cause each other to suffer ... nasty animals that we can be ... if the mood hits us.
