      Can you point out anything dangerous in this clip? Just listen and take it in... And then reg the other items if you do your homework I believe you'll find the following...
      - Reg trans ppl: The position is respecting trans ppl and supporting non-discrimination but objects to being forced to use certain language when talking to anyone.
      - Reg gender: He argues for the case of biological traits and intersectionality of diversity that takes away from "equal outcome" scenarios that focus on a single point of differentiation between people (gender). A good reference is the iceberg of diversity. I haven't seen any backup for the claim "anti-science"?
      - Reg climate change: He doesn't deny that it exists but rather argues that many problems exist and people should focus on their own sphere of influence rather than taking on overarching social causes that they don't understand or know how to solve.
      I find it hard to see him as dangerous but rather a very thoroughly thought out and outspoken person worth engaging with on an intellectual level. I don't necessarily agree with everything he says but it's far easier to just say "he's dangerous! Ignore him" vs actually finding that he's a capable intellectual that's challenging ideas which should be discussed and understood and worked towards in a measured fashion. Seems far more dangerous to alienate opposing thoughts with generalized exaggerated statements while pushing an agenda... As JP says, "give the devil his due"

You cant help but come across as a complete ignorant fool when you say stuff like Jordan Peterson is "against trans rights". And I dont mean that in a F you way, I mean it in a way were you should really listen to Jordan first and then say what you think of him, because it's clear to everyone that has bothered to listen that you dont have a clue.

      Jake B
      I’ve listened to quite a bit of Jordan Peterson. He is an eloquent speaker and very educated, but in a narrow field that has a long history of being laden with pseudoscience. He often says very inspiring bits that are based on things we already accept and believe, but then smuggles in so much irrational paranoid bullshit.
      The disturbing phenomenon is not JBP himself, but the way his followers speak about him as if he is Allah - Shiva - Yahweh - David Fukin Koresh in the flesh - a God among men who will be reborn after being comatized ‘n’ victimized by those who would allow him to be drug addicted (I’m sorry... “physically dependent”) and make a number of irrational decisions that led to a medical emergency that most of us mere mortals would have avoided.
      Praise be upon him

      First of all, if you do that with everything, then there is absolutely no single source of information on this Earth that you will listen to.
      We are too cynical nowadays. We cannot listen and get along with anyone because we are looking for a false perfection that doesn't exist.

      @Psychonaut Nobody said he is perfect, nobody is perfect after all.. but that's why JP deserves even more praises because to be down, to be a faulty person.. but still have the power and the mindset to inspire good things and give support in such a way is even more admirable...
      It's easy to criticise, to hurt, to destroy..., try doing the opposite even when you're in a more comfortable position than JP, see how hard that is and then, but only then you can say anything.
      If you can't understand this, that means you just like to see the world burn for no reason therefore I'll leave you be and wish for you to eventually wake up.

    I had a friend in college who had had a pretty rough start in life. Among other things, at 14 he came home from school and found his dad dead in the garage. He had shot himself and made quite a mess. My friend was a Russian immigrant, and his mother didn't speak much English, so at 14 he became the man of the house. He took a job as a bus boy at a local restaurant. By 16 he was effectively the assistant manager. One day a billionaire who occasionally visited the restaurant noticed him and decided to take him under his wing. My friend came from nothing and got himself a degree in business management from one of the top management universities in the country because at 14 he knew that even though he was a bus boy, he should still do that job well.

Anyway I thought I'd try and change some things that I knew were wrong like being bitter and jealous towards work colleagues, not making enough effort at things etc. Well I can tell you my life has completely changed for the good and as soon as I started changing things it almost became natural. I am a better person. Thanks Dr Peterson

    • @rudugger_5188
      @rudugger_5188 4 года назад +4

      @@breakingthemasks There are so many psychological elements to string together to understand this but as simple as possible... start with recognizing negative automatic thought ie. Boss asks you to do something, but they have already filled your day with a tonne of other stuff... you can either think "friggin' boss lumping me with all this shit, what an asshole" or you can think "damn this is hard, but the boss has trusted me to this task because they know I can do this". Start by re-framing every event in your mind to a more positive approach and you will automatically start thinking more positive or at least pragmatically about everything. Apart from this, consider reading 12 Rules for Life.. its cheap and set a goal of reading about one rule a night and there will be more there.

      But seriously thanks for improving, when you get closer to those superior people and nip at their heels and even cause them to rise up another level to stay superior to you then you have really done a great thing!
      Those of great sportsmanship and competition with the highest respect for the losers below them will humble themselves sometimes and say that the second place person or team pushed them higher and made them achieve more... And that indeed is a noble effort for all the second place folks...
      And third place 😉
      But fourth place people should never get a trophy 🧐
      And then there's another approach from "searching for Bobby Fischer":
      Bruce : Do you know what it means to have "contempt" for your opponent?
      Josh : No.
      Bruce : It means to hate them. You have to hate them Josh, they hate you.
      Josh : But I don't hate them.
      Bruce : Well you'd better start.

    Jordan Peterson has become one of the great gifts of a loving God to those who aren’t doing well. I say this knowing he doesn’t identify as a religious man. Point being: God can use anyone to deliver His message of love - even an Atheist (though Peterson isn’t one).

    • @kathrinlindern2697
      @kathrinlindern2697 4 года назад +1

      @rross27 Atheism existed long before communism, and the real problem is usually authoritarianism, anyway. You can have an absolutist monarch or something of the kind you believe reigns in the name of god, or you can have an authoritarian, autocratic government that is full of (technically non-religious) ideology. Decent states usually take the high road of secularity mixed with a bit of humanism. The country that is most neutral to peoples personal beliefs is usually the one that has the highest standard of living.

    • @kathrinlindern2697
      @kathrinlindern2697 4 года назад

      @rross27 Humanism is, like atheism, a concept that existed long before Marx was even born. It is - like atheism or religion - a very broad concept that is not rooted in Marxist philosophy - through Marxist philosophy might be described as rooted in and having influenced modern thought on humanism. Humanism does not even have to be non-religious and can be highly influenced by religious values.
      Also: The guy in that video might be a secularist, but this is like condemning Christianity by showing a video or something of one of those modern prophets who claim that the end is near. It is a strawman-argument in this conversation because I never made such claims and this sort of behaviour is not a distinct or necessary feature of secularism. Secularism is, by the way, only the separation of church and state. In the same way that atheism is just the absence of belief in a deity. So your arguments should be more rational than condemning a whole school of philosophy based on subjectively bad examples of it.

    • @kathrinlindern2697
      @kathrinlindern2697 4 года назад

      @rross27 So... you are trying to tell me that tell me that separation of church and state is bad because communists wanted it? That is like saying Christianity is bad because it was used to justify witch hunts and crusades. There are, by the way, many points in which socialism and the teachings of Christ align just naturally well. Because God's rewards in Jesus stories are usually not earned. The story of the lost son is just one example for that. Or that a rich man has the same chance to go to heaven as a camel to ho through the hole in a needle. One must also keep in mind that "communism" quickly came to mean just another form of authoritarian government that is not actually communist in the sense that Marx would describe communism. Russia or China are not actually communist - just like the GDR was not actually a democracy. The problem with communism is rather that it is practically impossible to achieve rather than that the idea itself is morally degenerate.
      And now, if you don't mind, tell me what "atheism really is".

      @Psychonaut Peterson's advice can often be characterized as SORT YOURSELF OUT FIRST, and it becomes pretty obvious after a few videos that his primary aim is to help, not to manipulate
      so if that man, selling only that self-help writing program he wrote, AND these Lectures hall events... if that man is a clown and an addict, I'd like to see your definition of a decent human being who's also in the public eye

    Yes everything always paid off at the very end no matter what job or career you are on. Dicipline and hardwork always paid off. Everyday is an opportunity.

    I started watching Dr. Peterson’s lectures 2 years ago. Since then my life has completely turned around. Watching this video made me cry, because I’m so grateful that I took his advice and made heaven anywhere that I was. I now love life. Thank you Dr. Peterson.

    Finally, somebody realised Jordan's Peterson words should be written down while he speaks as he speaks very fast. Great job. It's been easier for me to follow this video and his speach.
