I got the older 21" Power+ from 2020 and it's still going great for me. The new models look like decent improvements overall. Best mower I've ever had. I love how I have to do zero maintenance. No more oil changes, no more lugging jerry cans to the gas station. It's been great for me. My property isn't particularly large however.
I’ve owned mine for 2 years now, the best mower I’ve ever had. But it’s even better at getting up the leaves with the muncher blade and the high lift blade!
Got mine a week ago and I love it. I must agree about the trigger configuration. It is very easy to forget to release them and the mower will drive off forcefully. Once I got the hang of it it performed beautifully. Love the noise level, auto electric start and total ease of height adjustment. I have several batteries so it's so simple to swap them with all the tools. No more gas, I'm sold!! PS it works great. My yard looks really good. Purchased at Lowe's .
Thank you so much for all this detailed information. I recently started working at a big box store and really appreciate you taking the time to make such an informative video so that I can pass that knowledge on to our customers.
After 50 years of cutting lawns, yesterday I used my first electric mower. It was an EGO 21" push mower, that I borrowed from a neighbor. I was quite impressed with the way it cut through Zoysia grass. Now I'm in the market for a self propelled model. My trusty Lawn Boy served me well, for 26 years. Thank you for this very detailed video. It was very helpful in narrowing down my choices.
@@TechMadeEzy that's exactly the two units I'm considering. The 2156 is probably overkill for my 60'x100' property. However, I do like the idea of a 5 year warranty on the 10a battery.
Love your videos - so detailed! One question that I’ve seen conflicting comments on: If you are NOT using the self propel feature, is there any resistance pulling the mower backwards? Thanks in advance.
I love my Ego, purchased at the start of this season when my gas powered died and was going to be insane $ to repair. One question that I have and wonder if anyone else has noticed, that as the bag fills up mower has a tendency to "pop wheelies" from the weight. I also think that the added weight of the grass in the catch bag seems to impact the battery life. True?
My son got me this model for Christmas and I finally used it for the first time last week. The grass was quite long for the first cut and I had to make some adjustments for height so it wouldn't scalp. All in all, it does a decent job. I have two 7.5 amp hour batteries. The self-propel operation is a problem though and can be dangerous. This operation works as advertised but with one or both triggers pressed one must be alert and release the trigger(s) at the end of each row or when approaching an obstruction. Note: Because of the trigger's location on the handlebars, it is very easy to forget to release them. The operator might stop moving but the mower will continue on and jerk the operator forward so hard that it could put him or her on their face or hurt their back. Ask me how I know this. Be very careful with the s-p function or the results can be painful.
Nice job with the video. But you still left some confusion on the table. A lot of the mower model numbers also indicate if they’re kits B.S.s tool only. For instance if you buy the LM2135SP when you actually look at the model number on the mower itself it will say LM2130SP. That’s because the kit (with battery and charger) alters the model number for purchase on the box but not the model number on the mower itself
Thanks , you can grab that information off of Ego‘s website here is the link then click on manual and download it egopowerplus.com/21-inch-self-propelled-mower-lm2110sp/
Would think a 30in steel deck mower would need self propel.Think this would be too heavy as a push mower. For commercial users look at the Mean Green Machines electric mower lineup. These were made for commercial users. They have large battery packs that could run the mower up to 8hrs!ZTR riders. and a self propel walk behind.

@@TechMadeEzy , My gas mower broke today. And I'm thinking of making the switch to electric. And with that, choosing between Ego or Ryobi. From what I've researched so far, most are saying Ego is better.
I bought the LM2100SP several years ago. I bought the backpack blower a month or two later so I've had two 7.5ah batteries to use all this time. I cut my own lawn (roughly 130ft x 130ft). I'cutting a second lawn, a city lot that's roughly 100ft by 80 ft and was cutting a senior neighbor's lawn (same size as the city lot) every week. I converted the lawn mower from a single blade to a dual blade using an instructive video I saw on RUclips. It really works great for mulching and bagging leaves. With all of that, I suspect the self propel mechanism (transmission) is being impacted. As I even push the mower without power I sense bearings not rolling smoothly. I removed the rear wheels and checked the wheel bearings but don't find any issue. I'd like to check the transmission but am not sure how to proceed. Has anyone disassembled and reassembled the transmission?
Bought this model today from Lowe’s. Display model at 80% off!!! They could not find the battery and charger, no biggie as I have 3 and 2 chargers. Long story short love the self propel which I didn’t have on my original 2015 model that I am replacing after it finally died. I did notice it was missing the handle from my original.
I have the....I think 2135? Looks like it anyway. I had some reservations about an all plastic deck because we have a LOT of acorns and sticks, but it's been a few years, and it's held up to use and abuse like a champ. I like the design of the bag too. The opening is (if not, pretty close to), the same size as the back of the bag. Makes emptying it a lot smoother. A lot of other brands and a significantly smaller opening than the back of the bag. Should point out, it doesn't matter if you take the battery out or not before you lift it up. Yes safety first to take out the battery (plus, why wouldn't you charge it after use?), but I'm just saying if you don't take it out because you forgot or whatever, the mower WILL NOT turn on unless the handle is fully extended. It's own little safety feature if you will.
I love the whole EGO lineup. I find that their mowers especially the twin blades models cut grass very well. However, in the Fall/Autumn if you have lots of leaves and if you are used to mulching your leaves with a gas mower, these battery electric mowers like the EGO always fall short. For mulching leaves well you need to do several passes under a heavy load to break down the leaves into fine pieces so they fall into the lawn. So you need a strong gas mower like a Honda. So if you want a mower that both cuts grass well and mulches, you are left with sticking with gas. The sad thing is Honda, which makes in my opinion the best gas lawnmower money can buy is ending production of all their gas mowers by mid-2023. So I am hoping that one day a Battery Electric mower company can come up with a monster of a mower that can turn a thicker, heavier cutting blade that makes more suction and mulches like a monster.
I have to say the LM 2156SP with the high lift blade is pretty awesome in the fall with leaves. I recently used it to clean up my lawn and I’m pretty darn happy but obviously it’s important that you share your opinion. Thank you for sharing your opinion.
It’s the best I’ve seen with the amount of torque and the dual blade system with the high lift blade on. You also have to make sure you adjust the height of the deck properly. You don’t want it to low or too high.
@@TechMadeEzy totally agree. We use 2 ego twin blade mowed with 12amp hr batteries 🔋 for commercial mowing and have had zero issues. We would pick up a 30” deck instantly if ego offered one in the future.
Thanks for this. I was considering one when my 2004 Toro Super recycler finally dies. Maybe by the time it does they'll be better than gas models for the money. These seem to really be improving quickly.
Great video my friend. A little info is when you decide to use the side discharge you don’t use the mulching blade. Take that one off and install the high lift/air blade and you will get really nice discharge. My mower came with all the different blades. Did yours come with it?
@@TechMadeEzyyeah, you say it at about 26:00. I would have known if I had watched the whole video, before asking. If it were me, I would put it in the title of the video, and possibly the description also, but I might be a model number fanatic. Though it is in the description, but it's in a list so there's no indication. Ego has so many similar models that it can get a bit confusing.
@Chris. Good info on the leaves. My gas 20 year old Toro Super Recycler does tremendous with leaves. It’s like I’ve vacuumed. I don’t rake and we have loads of leaves. Good to know on the electric as I’ve been on the fence. Probably keep my Toro a few more years. Maybe they will improve in that time.
It's a electric trap. People tend to buy new battery electric lawnmowers at the beginning of cutting season in early spring. During that time, it works great cutting grass. A few months later when fall arrives, the honeymoon is over. People soon realize that it can't mulch like a gas mower. So people either learn to live with it and pick up leaves to old fashion way by hand, or getting another spare battery as it requires many more passes to get mulching results, or they sell it (as it's mostly passed the return window) and buy/go back to gas.
Thank you for the through review, I would like to add that the 2019 lm2102sp is a Brushed motor which is a huge difference to this model. I bought this motor today thanks to ur review
Deciding between 2114SP and 2102SP. Seems like the notable differences are the battery size and the brushless vs brushed motor respectively. If cost is equal, which one is better for a 2600sq ft lawn?
With out the bars the grey covering kinda looks like the DeLorean car from back to the future or a sports car you can really see it when you fold it and stand it up😂 at 10:36
I haven't seen such deck efficiency since the 1990s. I had a craftsman mower, it was only a mulching mower. It just mulched I believe. And it was very light not self propelled. And it looked like that underneath. So that's awesome. Most mowers seem to ignore having a deck that is designed to mulch.
Just clean your deck, wheels, sharpen your blades 👍🏼 and take good care of your batteries. Leave them inside never out in a shed or left inside the mower.
Great review and model comparison at the end. Do you prefer the touch drive self propelled of the 2135, or the lever system self propelled on the 2114sp? Which do you think is more ergonomic and easier on the thumbs/hands touch drive or lever system?
Not sure if it's just my imagination or what, but that side discharge chute looks a little different than the older models. Almost like the opening is a little wider and the angle isn't as sharp as before. Maybe why it seems like it's throwing a little further.
Ego does have a steel deck but I have the 52 inch plastic and it’s the best mower I’ve ever had owned . I had it for 2 years knock on wood no problems it is awesome
A 12ah might get too hot in the summer after a bit of cutting. I still run an 8 year old first gen EGO mower commercially and when I use a 7.5ah in it on hot days it can overheat after an hour or so. So I tend to swap the batteries out a little past half charge. I wish they'd make more non self propel options. These mowers weigh like 60 pounds so I never use self propel to save battery. Hell I have a 25" 82 volt greenworks commercial that I never 7se the self propel.
There is one. Its the EGO POWER+ 56-volt 21-in Push Cordless Lawn Mower 6 Ah (Battery Included) Item #: 5144092 Model #: LM2114 for sale at Lowes for $449. Use a military discount and its $428 after taxes.
The lm2120/2125sp mower is the worst I've used. Very uneven cut. Lots of mohawks. Not enough suction to pull up grass that's been matted down by the wheels, so after the wheels run over grass going one way, the grass just stays down and doesn't get cut. I know this review isn't about that mower, but just throwing it out there in case anyone finds that helpful. Cheers!
I really don't know I've never messed around with other types of configurations I've definitely seen some people on RUclips talk about it but I like the blade balancing to be even, less strain on the motor and the battery will be more efficient
Great review Tech! I’m very surprised EGO went backwards with the single blade.🤷🏼♂️ I’m looking forward to seeing your review on the deluxe models. Thanks Tech! 👍🏻👍🏻
Lindsay 🔥 nice to see you! Not backwards just offering some options for their customers. That’s how I see it especially without prices are these days. The lm2167sp will be an upgrade for sure but lm2125 and lm2114 are just some value options that’s all, just my opinion
I’ve had a dual blade green works for years. I actually wanted something with a single blade. I find they cut better over time and the single blade is easier to maintain.
I think it's impressive that these things were basically toys when they came out and now they are a serious option. I know lithium battery technology made it possible, but also the evolution of anything that is marketable means the makers keep making improvements over time. The first Black and Deckers were like 16 inch cut, they were ridiculous. Now, my father in law in the 1990s had a plug in Black and Decker DUAL MOTOR mower and it was great as long as a person didn't have huge hills and could deal with using a cord. But it wasn't profitable and they stopped making them. He rebuilt the motors because at that time there was nothing electric that could even hope to compete with it.
Great video, I purchased this and had some reservations about it. After watching your video I am happy with my purchase. However, I have not had the chance to use it as of yet. Wish me luck!
It’s a good mower, I personally overlap a little and always try and make sure my blades are sharp and my deck is clean. That helps, good luck you’ll have fun
EGO has a battery problem. I bought an EGO lawnmower in 2021. My only concern was how long the battery would last. That turned out to be a valid concern. The original battery stopped working in 6 months. Fortunately, they replaced it under warranty. Unfortunately, 6 months later the replacement stopped working. They told me their replacements aren't covered by warranty so I was SOL. The only option they offered was to purchase a new battery at the retail price. Which was more than I paid for the mower originally. Fool me once...back to a gas mower for me.
You are so right. My battery died after 14 months. Since I failed to register it, no warranty. Plus, it cuts horribly. It bends the grass over instead of cutting it. $400 for a new battery really has me on the fence of what to do.
🤔 Perhaps the side discharge Would be more efficient with the “High Lift” blade. I wish this model at least had dual blade, “Select Cut” (“X” blade) capability. These EGO mowers are so light, compared to ICE mowers, I couldn’t buy in to the necessity of the “SP” suffixed models, for the “non-SP” advantages of simplicity, reliability, expense, weight and the less complicated absence of extra interlocks, switches, and wiring. I chose the LM2100 family (LM2100: tool only; LM2133: tool + charger + 5AH battery, or the LM2135: tool + charger + 7.5 AH Battery). This LM family has the 7 ft-lbs motor only rivaled by the 8.3 ft-lbs motor on EGO’s most powerful “SP suffixed” models. I personally, (and yes, I’m an old guy) would only consider an SP model if the mowing involved hilly terrain. The LM2100 is also easier and less noisy to push when the battery depletes. Generally I opt for models which come with the battery as it is much cheaper than buying a separate battery. When a model comes with two batteries it’s like hitting the EGO jackpot 🤣🤗. I’ve been a committed EGO residential user for twelve years, and have had few issues. EGO CS is usually good. EGO’s engineering continuously improves over time, although it is sometimes slower than I would like. EGO’s engineering tardiness, for instance, is demonstrated by their solar generators being in dire need of re-engineering (no pass-thru charging, highly restricted solar input, no “real” surge capacity, an undocumented square wave model, units not producing rated AC capacity, etc). EGO still doesn’t offer a USA 🇺🇸 brush cutter option …… blades + handlebar-mounted switch, as they do in their European models. EGO could make a killing if they would merely make a small trolling motor unit utilizing their ARC Lithium battery technology. The trolling motors would sell like hotcakes for the large “personal watercraft” market, especially because many lakes and communities are now restricting ICE outboards both for petroleum and noise pollution. Finally EGO really needs to upgrade their website. Information for a particular product is scattered, verbose, and sometimes hidden or absent. Much of the information geared toward sales rather than accessing information. The search function (🔎) is terribly imprecise. The side by side comparison of EGO’s myriad of chargers was great and the comparison with the LM2167SP and the other models was also excellent. EGO sometimes buries tech spec details like RPM, torque, and weight. I was impressed with your thorough evaluation. Thank you for a detailed look into this new model. 👍
That’s a good one I don’t know if they fix that I’ve only done short tests with this one but I guess time will know we’ve also got a couple of models coming out especially their top of the line LM 2167SP
EGO MOWER -- DO NOT BUY ! Buying a battery operated mower was to support the eco movement, etc., and we thought it was a great idea. But, the electric wire(or relay switch) in the handle failed, which I've been told and read about online, is common. On June 13th I called EGO and was told my mower was under warranty and to take it to the recommended repair location nearby, so that's where it's been since then. Despite their many requests the repair shop can't get EGO to send parts and despite my many calls to EGO, they will not help in any way. EGO keeps saying it's being escalated to the proper department, but nothing happens. My mower has been in limbo all summer without the company taking any responsibility for providing parts to the repair shop. I just don't know what to do. I will never purchase another EGO product!
I own this mower. Battery died after 14 months. Didn't register it so no warranty. $400 for a replacement. It tends to bend the grass over instead of cutting it. Horrible purchase.

Iron Man 🔥
Deciding between 2114SP and 2102SP. Seems like the notable differences are the battery size and the brushless vs brushed motor respectively. If cost is equal, which one is better for a 2600sq ft lawn?
Larger ah battery will make the difference at that point.
@@TechMadeEzy So brushless vs brushed isn't a significant feature to tip the scales?
Brushed is a definite upgraded for sure especially long term , sorry missed that. 2114sp is the way to go
Great video as always. I’m excited for the new select xp with speed iq and the digital display
Same here
With out the bars the grey covering kinda looks like the DeLorean car from back to the future or a sports car you can really see it when you fold it and stand it up😂 at 10:36
I think the rear discharge would work better with a high lift blade
It can 👍🏻
I haven't seen such deck efficiency since the 1990s. I had a craftsman mower, it was only a mulching mower. It just mulched I believe. And it was very light not self propelled. And it looked like that underneath. So that's awesome. Most mowers seem to ignore having a deck that is designed to mulch.
Good review, but some key points left out:
Is the Deck steel or plastic?
The Tires: rubber or plastic?
Polycarbonate deck
Plastic wheels
What maintenance is needed like greasing the self propelled
Just clean your deck, wheels, sharpen your blades 👍🏼 and take good care of your batteries. Leave them inside never out in a shed or left inside the mower.
@Tech Made Easy getting interested i have a toro super recycler 5 yrs old i have to look into selling it
Great review and model comparison at the end. Do you prefer the touch drive self propelled of the 2135, or the lever system self propelled on the 2114sp? Which do you think is more ergonomic and easier on the thumbs/hands touch drive or lever system?
Hi thanks , I would say touch drive then
Not sure if it's just my imagination or what, but that side discharge chute looks a little different than the older models. Almost like the opening is a little wider and the angle isn't as sharp as before. Maybe why it seems like it's throwing a little further.
I’d have to take a closer look
Ego does have a steel deck but I have the 52 inch plastic and it’s the best mower I’ve ever had owned . I had it for 2 years knock on wood no problems it is awesome
Looks like the side discharge would leave a row of grass. When it turns brown you would have rows of brown grass?
Not a fan if they f side discharge, it’s a hot mess
In your opinion, how much does a double-blade make in terms of how well the grass is mulched?
It really does make a big difference especially for mulching from my experience
Can you put a double blade in this mower?
Not officially, but I think there’s some videos out there that show people how to do it. Just be careful you don’t wanna void your warranty.
Do you know what the LM 2114sp or the LM 2125sp will cost tool only.
Haven’t seen that yet sorry but I will keep my eyes out for sure
Very thorough review,thanks!
Thank you
I have a 2023 EGO that was made in 2022. My handle looks nothing the one in this video.
They have many models it can be confusing
Excellent info. I will be in the market for an EGO this coming spring as I have an old Toro starting to die.
Jim, thank you more videos to come as they will launch other models
Do we know what "Touch Drive Self Propell" is?
Hi Ace do you own an ego mower?
@@TechMadeEzy I do. But not a snow blower. Did I win the big give away? I see Green works is advertising a self propelled two stage...
Cheers!
Can you do some comparisons with the LM2114SP vs some older models? I just bought the LM2114SP. I wouldn't mind seeing some more content on it.
Hi once the Grass Grows I'm hoping to do some comparisons
@@TechMadeEzy......great and thanks. I love your content!
Thanks again. Appreciate that
@TechMadeEzy .....I know this question maybe premature but from what you know now, do you think I can add the 2 green bagging blades to this unit?
I really don't know I've never messed around with other types of configurations I've definitely seen some people on RUclips talk about it but I like the blade balancing to be even, less strain on the motor and the battery will be more efficient
Very cool Al, but I can’t wait to see the 2167!
I agree speed IQ makes me want to see and know more
Great review Tech!
@@TechMadeEzy I really do like the way they remodeled underneath the mower. Much smoother, should be a breeze to clean.
Thanks Rob
Good luck 👍🏼
This is the review i've been searching for. Bought this exact same model, but I am worried about the "mohawk" issue everyone is talking about.
It’s a good mower, I personally overlap a little and always try and make sure my blades are sharp and my deck is clean. That helps, good luck you’ll have fun
@@TechMadeEzy I hope so! Went with the 6 amp hour battery, but have 2 of the 2.5 ones to hopefully do my entire yard!
That rear discharge should throw left to use the movement of the blade. Its like pointing a side discharge chute straight forward. Not smart.
Truly would like me EGO to provide a lower mowing height. Not great in the South for Bermuda.
I've heard that a few times, the new LM2167sp / lm2160 has 8 height settings down to 1 inch
When will the new mowers be released to the public?
Probably early next year I'll keep my eye out hope you subscribed and turn your notifications on happy holidays
New RUclips channel request:
Marriage made easy! 🤣
(Congrats!)
Good to see EGO making cheaper options instead of just selling the older mowers at discounted prices.
You sound like Howard Stern?
Is that a statement or a question it’s got question mark ? At the end 😎
The lord is so so good
Will be great when ego releases their robotic mower.
That seems to be the thing now a lot of companies coming out with those that would be interesting
Yeah they brought back the bars for self propel. I am not a fan of the push tabs on the 2022 design.
Wait in 2-3 years when those batteries need replacing and how much they cost.💸
Just to confirm has this new ego addressed your no. 1 dislike?
And what is that?
@@TechMadeEzy The motor engaging when you stop and wanting to pull the mower back
That’s a good one I don’t know if they fix that I’ve only done short tests with this one but I guess time will know we’ve also got a couple of models coming out especially their top of the line LM 2167SP
Even if you didn’t register it if you actually have the receipt, you should be covered as long as you bought it from an authorized retailer
Wow 6ft lb or torque. Dont buy
