I did the same thing in Philly border neighborhoods a few years back when houses were $10-20k and, while the assets appreciated, the clientele didn’t get better. Best of luck and welcome to Philly!
The East coast has 6 out of the 10 top wealthiest states in America. If you took those 6 states, which includes the state I live in(Virginia) and combined them altogether and put them against California, those 6 states would dwarf California in total Wealth. I think you are making a great move brotha! I personally moved from Oahu, my native hawaiian island, and went straight to Virginia without hesitation and it's been the absolute best move I have ever witnessed in my life :)

You are spot on with the prices in the areas you are looking at . I have a house in toms river my taxes are 1700 a year . A condo in Sussex that is 2900 a year . Pockets in south jersey the homes are dirt cheap . Taxes are very low as well .

Our property taxes in Pennsylvania are way cheaper than New Jersey, unless you choose Delaware County Pennsylvania.....it’s almost as bad as Jersey. Best wishes!🌿

I was recently conversing with my mother which I'm her caregiver (she has beginning phase of dementia) and told her that this state is becoming another Cuba and we need to move out sooner than later!
We escaped Communist from Laos, country in Southeast Asia. We are very grateful to made it to America. We feel free and have opportunities to work and support our family. America is wonderful. Back over there the poor are starving and have no job opportunities. Gathering what they can from farming, foraging and then sell their goods to support themselves and family. Zero govt help for decades. No humans right etc. Truly sad.
