At last, I was able to get the chroma into the air. I was very impressed with the quad but it was pretty chilly and my hands got very cold so I only used one battery. That's ok though, as I got to try most of the functions and got some video and stills. A couple of guy came to the strip to fly (I was happy to know I wasn't the only nut in the club) and were awed by the chroma. I was on top of the world after the experience I had with the first gps quad I purchased. It flew just fine for 6 min and promptly stopped listening to the transmitter and ended up crashing. The calibration is much easier and it was very gratifying to enjoy the problem free experience. Very easy to operate. I am very happy with it. (you think?)
Excellent video, you guys should do some on the yuneec q500 4k as well. I know they are essentially the same, but it would be nice to see some quality videos on the yuneec Q500. Thanks and have a blessed week.
I'm looking at several quads in this price and features range, including the Chroma and the Q500 4k. The Yuneec is a little bigger, includes two batteries and a case but uses the same controller and camera. The Chroma battery is supposed to last a little longer but only has one battery and no case. Can you tell us what the major differences are between the two quads that make the Chroma a better choice at the same price? My question is sincere - there is quite a conversation going on in the RC forums about this and no one has a good explanation.
Jeff Sibelius It really comes down to the fact that they are both great options. If value real-world 30 minute flight times and portability, the Chroma is your pick. The Q500 is larger, but also less flight time and not as travel friendly. The Chroma fits in a standard backpack because the landing gear can come off. Also, you get the support of Horizon Hobby for the Chroma which has been known in the business as being best in class.
Chroma Camera Drone You're absolutely right about them both being great choices. I actually purchased the Chroma in the past few days. I didn't know that it could be disassembled, which is a neat feature . . . but the deciding factor was the support from Horizon Hobby and the ability of my local RC shop to be able to work on Blade products. Your good reputation means a lot.
Taking off in safety mode is only ok in a large open area. I tried to take off in a riverbed to film some fish and it went out of control and crashed into a tree blew into pieces and sank to the bottom of the river 14ft deep. I dried it out used some tuck tape and crazy glue. Amazingly it still works fine. The buttons on the controller are problematic however, I popped off the buttons and filled the hole on the button to stop it from sliding down on the male end. I also have had issues with the still camera and starting since day 1. Took apart the controller and found a loose harness connection on the button board. Easy fix but seems loose in the harness so I expect it will happen again. I get under 20 min filming per battery charge.

Actually I would not recommend taking of in smart mode - if Chroma behaves anything like the Q500, it could take off like hell and smash into something because of the safety distance - I know a lot of cases with broken props because of this ;-) Take off in angle mode and switch to smart mode when you're up and safe instead (if you want to use smart mode at all)
HI guys; Great video, great quad, but one thing I disagree with is starting the Chroma with the speed setting on "rabbit". I suggest "turtle" mode instead. This thing is powerful, it is a rocket ship. No complaints, not at all, but if somebody has never flown any quad or drone before, they might be taken by surprise at just how powerful and agile this machine is. Just like buying a new sports car with a 500hp engine, "drive" it slow and easy for a few days until you get a feel for it. Otherwise, awesome quad you have there.
maiingun1 Thanks for the feedback. We recommend the Rabbit setting because the Chroma may not start its motors when that setting is all the way to the turtle mode.
I've had 2 blade qx3's and one flew away. whilst the other had motor issues. horizon replaced with a chroma and that dropped out of the sky with power loss issues. I stay with horizon due to its customer care but I feel issues need to be sorted as some people may not get their equipment replaced.
Well, I think i would have just a little too much fun. Actually, i was flying my RC Airplane, last weekend, just at dusk & i seen a Drone fly over-head. I was like, oh Shit, their on to us! Get the SHOTGUN!!!
It looks as if blade and yuneec have somewhat merged. my yuneec q500 + operates in the exact same manner. I also noticed on the radio control, it even shows the yuneec logo at the top and blade in the middle. camera is nearly identical, the same blade orientation and all controls are the same. does anyone know if blade and the unique company have merged?
Hi, I'm debating on buying the Chroma or the P3. I really like the Chroma but wanted Waypoint & auto take-off feature like the P3. Will Chroma have these features anytime soon? If so, is it possible for these features to be added to the existing Chroma via firmware or would there be another version of the Chroma in order to include this feature?
I seen the Phantom 4 flight and its awesome but to pricey, if you can afford it ok, the Chroma kit with the st10 and 2 batteries and 4K was lowered to $849.00 a awesome deal for this quad
I was going to ask the same question as it isn't apparent in the manual. I have however discovered a micro SD card slot located behind the ST-10 battery. I am assuming all the videos, photographs, flight data etc are stored onto this. You should then be able to slot this card into your laptop and access the files.
I'd love to buy this one, but I'm a litttle skeptical since my 350 QX3 had many issues. Its back at horizon being checked out, I had the quad for a month and it just didn't want to act right.
***** this "350 qx4" aka chroma is more reliable and better design than the previous 350qx series .. it uses similar hardware from Q500 which is reliable than P3 and other quad out there ... the only thing i hate is the "priopieratary" battery, the least thing HH can do is use the same battery case from Yuneec, right Chroma Camera Drone ?? :-P
I agree on the battery, i got the QX3 back from HH, turns out the battery was not charging correctly amperage wise. seriously considering the Chroma now.
I recently purchased this drone. It flies very nicely. But the camera won't do what I need. I need at a minimum to be able to capture 1/4 square mile in a directly overhead photo for agricultural scouting. I need to either fly higher than 400 feet, (which seems to be an internal setting that I can't turn off) or I need a wider angle lens. Is it possible to either shut off the setting that keeps it from going above 400 feet or purchase a different camera with a wider angle lens for this machine?
I'm hoping someone makes a video showing a 30 minute flight time. I don't care if it's a hover, if you have the time please post a video of a 30 minute flight time and also to reduce the video length you could fast forward the video by x8. It's just hard for me to believe in a 30 minute mass produced drone for under $1300.
I have being using chroma. However, it should be up to 400ft at best flies to 700ft !!!!!!! OMG~ only 400ft... orz Is it possible to unlock the issue to a firmware update? This is very disappointing.
+Shin Y.S The chroma can reach ridiculous heights, however. by law, no remote controlled drone is allowed to fly above 400 ft. yes it can fly far higher, but not legally..
yeah! I purchased chroma cgo2 at X-mas season in last year. soon my brother-chroma will become one year old. i think that chroma's performance is better than that of phantom3
Bill Mattison If you buy the BNF version of the Chroma, the ST10+ will not bind to it as that version is equipped with a Spektrum receiver. you would need to buy the ST10+ receiver to make it work.
HI SIR VERY GOOD YOUR VIDEO. PLEASE I CAN'T EAR AUDIO WHEN I USE MY bLADE CHROMA TO MAKE VIDEO,SURE I HAVE PUT ON THE AUDIO FROM THE TRANSMITTER BUT CAN'T EAR .PLEASE DO YOU HAVE SUGGESTS FOR ME? THANK YOU MICHELE
The chroma appears to be as good IMO. although it does not have lightbridge, it does have 'follow me' mode and longer flight time. You have your choice of 1080p with the Cgo2 camera or 4k with the Cgo3 camera.
no offence but the controller and the overall construction look sub pare compared to the Phantom 3, and that screen YUCK, i'll stick to my 10 inch tablet.
i hate those red on and off button, it makes the radio cheap, need redesign to make it clean integration but honestly the phantom radio look cheap too even though it is clean design.. we cannot compare a larger tablet bcoz it is a 3rd party in P3 and other quad too ... preference wise, it is convenient to have 2 in 1 radio, it is convenient but just like i said earlier, ST10 radio can also put a bigger screen than a 5.5 on that same box radio
hey man I agree bro. I am going crazy on which quadcopter to get. I heard the customer service is great with these but the phantom offers better features and seems better quality
TheJWolfProductions In the effort to save the consumer costs, we opted not to include it. We figured that like most tech users, you most likely have a cell phone charging block laying around. Why pay for another one?
Thank you for the response. The video I saw, the presenter said you need an approved usb charger. I asked around and was told an android charger would work. My problem was my old phone is no android or smart phone. I spend my extra $$ for software and cameras not cell phones.
I sure hope nobody watches this video and then goes out with their new expensive drone and tries to fly it. Because if they skip compass calibration like this video did, they will be picking up their new drone in pieces, that is if they can find it! Personally, I don`t think a newbee should be flying anything but a cheap $20.00 toy quadcopter until they learn to fly. If gps is lost during flight, and the pilot does not know how to fly without the gps and smart mode, the drone could cause serious damage, and/or injury! And sorry, but if your going to make a how to, first flight, instructional video, then you should not leave out one of the most important things that must be done before you fly it!
I'll buy once soon. but I have many question: - I'll buy 1 combo: chroma 4k st10+ & case. price ~1.049,99$$ But I don't know exactly what's have in the box??? - I don't know where's the card SD. who can help me? Thanks so much.
johnnyyhash1 Real world 30 minute flight times, no need to own and use a separate smart device, USA based product support with best in class reputation just to name a few :)
"the world may never know" P3 buyers are majority consumers with no quad experience and a non hobbyist.. they are the main reason why we will have a stricter FAA regulation soon.. and btw, atleast Horizon Hobby has way better customer service than anyone else
Great Video and Great Product. Just Purchased mine today and Im in Love!!!
At last, I was able to get the chroma into the air. I was very impressed with the quad but it was pretty chilly and my hands got very cold so I only used one battery. Great video, my father and I just got ourselves one. Can't wait to fly it.
hispanic88 Best of luck and have fun!
+Chroma Camera Drone I don't like how it doesn't fly as far as a phantom. is there any way to make it fly further and how?
Excellent video, you guys should do some on the yuneec q500 4k as well. I know they are essentially the same, but it would be nice to see some quality videos on the yuneec Q500. Thanks and have a blessed week.
Good starter drone I got years ago. Issue now is getting good batteries for it that will last.
Just received mine today. Love it.👍👍👍
Looks like I'm going to have two drones in my future. I really like this one.
Gary Schneider Welcom to the Chroma family!
Does this really last 30 minutes? I like the smart fly selection. Do others have this feature or just this drone?
You can fly with the mast down. Mine broke, and instead of replacing it, I taped it down, only difference is GPS lock takes a few seconds longer

Magnus Högfeldt always in angle mode
Wondering how the backup is like if you don't tell them you need to calibrate the quad first before you fly it
What is happening at 6:04? Look at the rear left prop. Its either way off balance or malformed. Doesn't speak well to the Chroma name in any case.
Are there any upgrades at this time for longer range capability?
HI guys;

Chroma Camera Drone that could be a bug then.. we hope it will be fix in the future
maiingun1 Does this thing really last 30 minutes? Do you still like it? Any issues or crashes?
About 28Min from someone that has one, I have not flown ours yet

how do you get the battery back out
Any information on where to get a charger for my drone?
Hey where can I get batteries for this now????
Well, I think i would have just a little too much fun. Actually, i was flying my RC Airplane, last weekend, just at dusk & i seen a Drone fly over-head. I was like, oh Shit, their on to us! Get the SHOTGUN!!!

just bought the 4k. how do i connect the camera to the computer to see the footage you recorded
there is a small disk wish you remove and pop it in your computer
How do you see the videos you made
I was going to ask the same question as it isn't apparent in the manual. I have however discovered a micro SD card slot located behind the ST-10 battery. I am waiting for my Blade chroma, do you have to rotate the quad on the X axis and Y axis, before flight?
Yes you want to do this, so you won't loose it.
I'd love to buy this one, but I'm a litttle skeptical since my 350 QX3 had many issues. Its back at horizon being checked out, I had the quad for a month and it just didn't want to act right.

It doesn't take audio....
Hello, you fly away?
..what happens if you turn off the radio, in mid-flight?!
which is better..chroma blade or typhoon q500?
Zyhan emerazz chroma is better
the phantom 3 does not have and many features as the croma 4k. the st10+ can stream video to more than one device so you could use ur 10' tablet.
I say the phantom 3 is an apple iphone. the chroma is a droid.
+StealthCamp Is the Chroma just as good?
The chroma appears to be as good IMO. although it does not have lightbridge, it does have 'follow me' mode and longer flight time. You have your choice of 1080p with the Cgo2 camera or 4k with the Cgo3 camera.
StealthCamp Is there a a after market addon to make it not as laggy like lightbridge? And is the Camera better on the Phantom 3?
+Andy Black the cgo3 camera is 4k like the phantom. i don't know which is better. as for lag i don't find it to be a problem.
there is no talk about a calibration step, is there any or not.
The chroma is better than the phantoms my opinion I am asking santa for the croma
Wehre is the guy from the 350qx Videos
Theresa is just his voice
Do chromas have a warrenty? Please answer
You didn't mention compass calibration!
no offence but the controller and the overall construction look sub pare compared to the Phantom 3, and that screen YUCK, i'll stick to my 10 inch tablet.

Does anyone knows why the radio takes a SD card?
Ok thanks Jason
Saves video and Pics also flight data
Prices?????
Hector Sepulveda The Chroma starts at $600 and the 4K version retails for $1299.99
+Chroma Camera Drone that's a Garbage price and no gimbal. Shir I mines well buy Phantom 3 with gimbals for $500
YET look cheaply made despite the overpricing

+HumbleHeartMinistry how would someone set the compass calibration?
They did not talk about the sd card slot in the remote as well
I never calibrated my compass once... Flown my Q500 40+ times. DJIs fall out of the sky for no reason and silly CSC "features". Junk....
I'll buy once soon. but I have many question:

who can help me? Thanks so much.
The SD card goes into the controller under the battery, takes a micro sd sold separately
Why you would ever purchase this over a phantom 3? The world may never know.
johnnyyhash1 Because it is not made by DJI!
