LYRICS
I'd never wish any of this on anyone or anything. Aw come on, ya gotta try and look at things like me. I never needed anything I got, I never keep anything I have, what do I have? Mostly things that'll never last.
Then I think back...
I remember when I first saw the country. I remember sleeping in the van. Said goodbye to friends and family cause they could never understand. I remember jumping off of cliff tops. I remember playin with no one there. Ya, I knew if I became successful it wouldnt change who I am cause where I've been. Cause where I've been.
They wonder why I hide myself from everyone, from everything, man come on. You wouldn't last a day as me. Everyone loves me for my past, but they always hate me in the present. Why can't you just meet me somewhere in the middle?
It's in the hardest times we grow the most.
Speeding up, to slow down. Side glances around this crowd all at me. There must be somethin I can't see, so tell me. Hold me up, help me out. As I circle around what makes me happy. There isn't one place that I can be without leavin. This is my life.
I remember when I first saw the country. I remember sleepin in the van. Said goodbye to friends and family cause they could never understand. They dont understand.
I remember jumping off of cliff tops. I remember playin with no one there. Ya, i knew if I became successful it wouldnt change who I am. I remember the coast of California. I remember trucks stops cross the land. Never kept too many idols cause we were busy being them. I remember waking up in Georgia. I remember quitting my last job. Ya I knew if I became successful it wouldn't change who I was cause where I've been. Cause where I've been.
"It's in the hardest times you grow the most" such a simple fucking line but it's hits so hard. It's such a shame their music isn't as popular as it should be.
i fell in love with that line as well like wow i want it inked on me
yeah i was thinking of going for it as well hahaha. either that or "all hail the theif, forever trying to separate you and me" the document speaks for itself
I just finished getting my masters in education, and I actually titled one of the high school lessons I taught after that line (there were a few kids in the class who were fans of ADTR)
that's pretty amazing man. adtr for life
@@internalmonsters you’re such a sped
As a musician, the line "i remember quitting my last job" is really inspiring.
More than anything
This needs a music video of them through 2003 to now and all the struggles and success.
I second this even if all the fans give clips the have on their phones and parts taken from their social media account and get someone to put it all together and make a unofficial music video
This was always my favorite song from adtr and I really do wish they had a video of some sort for this song
And this is why I truly believe Jeremy McKinnon is one of if not THEE best song writer of his genre... Every song tells a different story in a completely different way... ADTR OWNS THE FUCKING WORLD
You got that right
He told us to mark his words. He took over the world
I like ADTR but they've been writing the same song about _themselves_ ("the struggles of being in a band, man") for more than a decade now. It's so repetitive that for a while I thought there was some meta joke that went over my head but no, they are just that narcissistic. We get it guys: you made it, now sing about something else.
@@ShaferHart Late comment but I think it's the fact that they couldn't believe themselves that they had to keep talking about because it just seemed like a dream
@@ShaferHart Exactly why I stopped listening to them.
"Never kept too many idols cause we were busy being them."
chills every time. so much goddamn respect for these guys
This is so true. I get goosebumps to this song. And especially that part.
This song gets me a bit depressed because it makes me nostalgic but also smile at the same time...about to graduate college in a few days and all the memories are flashing back. beautiful and powerful song!
congratulations on graduating college friendship!! ^-^
i feel the exact same way.
It makes me feel nostalgic in a strange way... I think it reminds me of the life I wanted so much when I was younger, but never had. I honestly feel like I have very few truly special memories, if any, to look back on. But at the same time, despite how troubling those years were, I appreciate what I had far more back then. I had youth, friends, and that was everything I needed. Now everything's so different, and I feel old at only 19(20 in July). It's rather bittersweet.
Word. Same lol
98darkwolf94 Life has just begun my friend!
"Never kept too many idols, cause we were busy being them."
Imagine writing those lyrics just thinking and knowing the impact you have on peoples lives and the way its delivered is so beautiful and sends chills every time I listen to it.
"I remember jumping off of cliffs, and playing with no one there." Gave me goosebumps. This song is so perfect. Takes me back so much.
I know what they were talking about when they mentioned "playing with no one there." part of the lyrics, which I think they explained later when they were being interviewed. I think they said something about how when they got done with one show, a band didn't show up to play next door to where they were playing, so they went and played there too when they were done with the last show.
This band really knows how to end albums well.
This is the best album off all time and anyone who disagrees should listen to all nine minutes of this song.
There's a better one... A Day To Remember - Greatest Hits
I'm not sure if that exists though :3
Sorry nothing will beat Homesick.
agree and disagree, both Homesick and this one made me smile and cry and headband and scream at the top of my lungs lol :D Love them both
I like for those who have heart and common courtesy they're both even for me
1. For Those Who Have Heart.
2. Common Courtesy.
3. What Separates Me From You.
4. Homesick.
:)
I'M NOT FUCKING EATING LONG JOHN SILVER!!!! Too funny. I think the conversations are the greatest moments on this track.
C Waco to s sure why UK CT 8
Righteous Vendetta What... The... Fuck.....
"Dude, no, Wendy's Dollar menu." That made me laugh so hard.
One of their most underrated songs.
"Never kept too many idols because we were busy being them."
-Best line ever!
I Remember when got into this band wayyyy to late. the day What Separates Me From You came out a friend of mine came into class on monday and was freaking out like "YO DUDE MY FAVORITE BAND JUST RELEASED A NEW ALBUM YOU HAVE TO HEAR THIS" and at the time i ONLY listened to Metallica and Pantera. so he showed me 2nd Sucks and it felt like time stopped it was just some new type of heavy for me at the time. i was so hooked on that song it was all i listened to. one day i decided i should listen to more than just that song and first one that came up was Downfall of Us All so i clicked on that and was shocked when i realized it was like "happy" but heavy and i had never heard something like it and then i realized they just did everything like i didnt think a band could do more than just one genre.
this band in short changed my fucking life. best thing thats ever happened to me.
'I Remember' listening to A Day To Remember for the first time
yes.
it got the 'Best of Me'
Logan Mead I loved them for so long, I feel like I've been listening to them since "1958"
kitkatkatydid i want "Another song about the weekend"
***** I do too. & I wish I could listen to ADTR all the time, but I'd run "out of time" to do anything else.
I don't care how immature it sounds, I want to be in a band and travel around the country. Kind of sucks that I might be doing that with a college degree, but college made me realize what I truly want out of life.
live your dreams and don't let anything hold you back :)
Me too
Don't hold back! Live life to its fullest. I understand exactly how you feel.
No I am the same way! Follow your dreams!
That's not immature that's an American dream. If I wasn't so insecure about my singing I'd do the same thing!
From my point of view, this is the best song of the entire album.
YES
The drum track for this album is amazing especially in this song it's got a soft but heavy feel to it and that's basically ADTR's music always sounds like.
That my friend is easycore
This band deserves the utmost respect. Best dang band in the universe.
H we Re 26w58idthe digestf9yt8s9d99m
Righteous Vendetta what the fuck did you just say to me

@@tylerjsanchez OmG!! NO WAYYYY!! ME TOOOOOO!! LMFAO@! That Is TOO damm funny!! I scrolled onto it RIGHT as he said b it!! 😝🤪 👍
I'm so glad I found this band. Thank you kitty0706 rest in peace.
+richie papa And i thought i was the only one who was hooked up by Kitty0706
He basically changed my life a little bit by introducing me to such an awesome band
Rest in peace, mate
+Artek [General] what happened?
JEsterCW
Kitty0706 (channel's name) was a youtuber, creator of G-mod comedy-like content of unique style and high quiality (in certain ways).
He used some ADTR songs in his videos.
Unfortunately he died from leucemia almost a year ago.
+Artek [General] :'(
For fuckin REAL
"It's in the hardest times we grow the most."
What happened to solid music, its like 2016-17 all the plugs dried up. This era of tunes was vibrating at a hella baller frequency. I miss it
I absolutely love the ending of all of them just chatting that’s really awesome I respect them for putting that in the song
With Bad Vibrations coming out this week, I've spent the last month reminiscing about all the previous albums(not that I needed any reason to go listen to all of them again). I can't think of any artist whose music has resonated with me the way ADTR does.
Agree.. great stuff
I remember when I first heard ADTR. And I remember when I fell in love with this band.... It might have been the same day.
This song makes me so happy yet sad. This really feels like the last song they'll make.
DarkSoulsNStuff It won't. Trust me.
DarkSoulsNStuff Not even close dude. They arent ending any time soon
Philia // Phobia He doesn't really think it's their last song, he's saying the song is so beautiful, it's as if it's their last song with the feeling it gives you.
Yeah i get what youre saying. Its definitely a song that feels like they are saying goodbye
+DarkSoulsNStuff It gives off the same vibe as The Kids From Yesterday by MCR. Really felt like their last song, and is widely regarded as such
This is exactly how I want to live my life. It brings tears to my eyes to know it could be possible. :'D
You can truly do anything you want if you are committed enough, dedicated enough and if you practise enough. I'd love to live this life too and maybe, just maybe, one day, if I practise enough, it'll be possible.
ADTR is very good at telling people that if they can get to where they are, anyone can do it, if you really want it. I agree with you. This song inspires me so much, I want to go out and get started on it right now. It's so great :')
"It's in the hardest times we grow the most." TRUEEE:)
i always listen to the full thing just to here them screech "I'm walking here!!"
My tattoo is from this song. “It’s in the hardest times we grow the most.” My favorite lyric ever. ❤️
That's so awesome🖤🖤
"It's in the hardest times we grow the most!" Best line in the song IMO although the whole song is great, best on the album.. Love it!
These songs hit home to me the part where it goes " I remember quitting my last job" which shows he can finally support himself through his music, and the emotion he puts behind the lyrics makes this album for me. Best album they ever had.
I remeber my friend coming into class telling me to go listen to the downfall of us all and that Id love it, I had never heard of adtr, little did I know this band would literally get me through highschool and life in general it all started sophomore year for me, im 20 now shits crazy love these guys they'll literally never know how many kids they've helped I thank God for a day to remember
JADED day to remember
Started in High School too. Fuckin’ love these guys.
This song makes me unconditionally happy. No matter what the situation, this makes me feel better. This song is Important.
That moment when you forget to stop the recording and it becomes famous
That moment when you don't realise that they probably recorded it on purpose
Nigel Hendriks that moment when you didn't quite get it.
ADTR is one of those Bands to Remind you Life is Good :)
Nostalgia is a beautifully painful feeling.
"I'M NOT FUCKING EATING LONG JOHN SILVER"
i worked there for 14 months and i can agree
I love how they keep remembering things at the end of the song. It give me goosepumps.
Words cannot describe how good these guys are. Even from their beginning cd they hit the ground fricken running!
This song brings a tear to my eye, the lyrics are beautiful, and I love when they talk at the end, what a band, can't wait to see them live
This song gave me hope this morning. I listened to this song a while ago and now listening to it again makes me so incredibly happy and I don't know why
I"M NOT FUCKIN EATING LONG JOHN SILVERS!
I have 2 kids. I'm 20 years young. This is still my dream. I love my kids, but this is what will truly make me happy. My all time favorite song right here. I look forward to these things.
This band will never die, in that fact I thank you for all this music that kept not just me but millions of people positive
literally me still listening to this almost everyday since 2013
We same
It's funny searching for "I Remember A Day to Remember".
I was waiting for someone to mention it!! Aha
I purposely searched it the other way just because it was too disturbing.
They did that on purpose "I remember a day to remember"
Im from future, 2020... I remember...
Hah, kinda fitting in a weird way
*It's in the hardest times we grow the most*
True words Jeremy.
Love your profile pic
I Remember when I was 7, I wanted to be on the road all my life. I I Remember when I finally got my first drum set. I Remember the first time I heard of A Day To Remember, and I don't regret a thing.
If I'm able to leave this all behind, I won't regret one bit.
It may sound like a really common statement, but this song turned my life around COMPLETELY.
I found "i remember" right after a girl I loved broke my heart. For a month I listened to this song every day and made me focus on myself. It involved everything from eating healthy, working out, reading philosofical books.
Every ounce of my respect to ADTR
2:50 ear candy..... 3:12 pure goosebumps and emotion in guitar form
You know a song is good when it makes you cry, despite never experiencing what it expresses. I've never travelled more than an hour away from my home. I've never visited another state or country. But this song... it made me cry and I just think that's really cool.
I think this song its just beautiful because of the way it was written, how they feel comfortable enough to tell us their experiences with touring and becoming successful. This is what I love because it shows they're not letting success get to their heads and are just being themselves. Fucking love this!
I remember seeing A Day To Remember in January in 2012 live in concert for my first time, ever since then I've remembered all about it for the rest of my life and I finally got to see them again for my second time in years. I remember how amazing they did last night and they never fail but make me happy.
adtr is amazing live!
"Its where I've been. Its where I've been." Told so well by Jeremy. Awesome song
This song will be played on my wedding i swear
"Awe come on, you wouldn't last a day as me" that line hits because these lyrics remind me of going to navy boot camp for kids and I remember jumping off of cliff tops as a kid with no one around climbing to do it again. I had so much fun in that lake. I remember saying goodbye to friends and family. I was preparing for the navy seal program when I was ready to enlist. I saw my friends die before my eyes when I enlisted I was promoted to master chief and I was in charge of there lives all of these lyrics mean so much to me you guys have no idea what volumes this band speaks to me... HOORAH!!!
I wish I could go back and hear this album all the way through for the first time all over again.
i love the talking in the end. really tied it all together
Reminds me of my Old school :P Had great friends there...had to change school due to my Asperger syndrome D:
Anyone listening in 2019? 🔥🔥👀’I remember’ when this album came out
2021 and I still listening this beautiful song
it's know wonder they are such a good band, they all have genuine relationships and are true friends damn....
They wonder why I hide myself from everyone, from everything.
Man, come on! You wouldn't last a day as me.
Everyone loves me for my past, but they always hate me in the present.
Why can't you just meet me somewhere in the middle?
HOLY SHIT!!
SO MUCH BEAUTY IN A FEW MINUTES.
"I REMEMBER A DAY" GOLD. OHMY GOD.
I love the storytelling at the end. Really makes you think about what they went through to get to where they are now.
"Didn't have to many idols, because we were busy being them",
Goosebumps every fucking time.
My favorite band still to this day! I remember being a Myspace follower of theirs before they had 1 million fans!
They should make a music video with just concert clips or would fit so well
i can’t explain it but the conversation at the end makes me feel at home
neever kept too many idols, cause we were busy being them. :')
I wish they would make a video for this, then again I enjoy the lack of videos from these guys. It is a change of pace from all other bands. Speaks volumes that they didn't give a crap and just wanted to make good music.
Was I the only one that listened this till the end? hahahahaha love them
We remember that too, boyz!!! 🤘🏼
4:20 Storytime with A Day To Remember
this is one of the reasons I love this band. they arent afraid to tell stories about how they've been when theyre together or just openly talk about shit. plus they make amazing music. i hope they keep going with music.
Common Courtesy: Excelent Album...Especially this song.
This is a top 3 ADTR song.
Jeremy :"I was sleeping the in van""-
Neil :"See? It's in the lyrics, he was sleeping in the van"
He actually says "That should be a lyric" I freaking listened to this song sooo much on the way to atlanta for Oct 16th last year.. lol
I knew if I came successful it wouldn't change who I am, because of where I've been. My favorite line, establishing money doesnt change your life, just makes the things you've always wanted, wanted to do easier to obtain. Adtr. all members of the band, deserve/earned everything that they have and will have. Thank you all for the amazing music, I wish the best for all of you.
I think I've listen it 40 times on repeat since the start of a big homework!
So good!
Tanks ADTR!
i remember when ADTR was not popular , but to me they meant the world
This song breaks me every fucking time i listen to it
i love the commentary after the song my favorite part lol
Just got back from marine boot camp. Good memories song
almost 2020, still underrated
Can’t believe it’s been 6 years. Now i am old enough/financially stable enough to attend an ADTR concert but its 2020. Life is so unfair.
I love the emotion you can feel in ADTR's later albums, especially this one.
Not that it was absent in their earlier work, but this song among others on this album are particularly cathartic
Just looking at all the comments and love on here is testament to how IMPORTANT ADTR is in they're fans lives. Fucking amazing album. All the naysayers haven't listened thru n thru, cus there's heavy shit that makes your face drop. LONG LIVE ADTR
This is one the most powerful, moving songs I've ever heard. This is why ADTR is amazing.
I remember seeing these guys in a shithole rollerskating ring in a horrid part of the city back on their first trip to ny state. seen them 8 times since then. One of the most well developed bands of our generation. every song gives the feels
This song depresses the crap out of me. I don't have anything great to remember. and it's like wow I have no life. :/
The thing I don't like about this track is when I listen to it on my ipod I have to listen to the last 6 minutes every time if I'm in a situation where I can't skip to the next song.
A radio edit would be awesome
Although it is a bother, what they talk about is strangely interesting.
I listen to the whole thing every time. I still love it. No idea why.
Yeah I know what you mean, its cool to hear their story the first couple of times but after the 30th time when you're repeating their dialogue its kinda lame
***** literally thankyou so much. I download all my music off of youtube and there are some songs that have endings that aren't even a part of the song so thankyou for telling me how to get rid of it
This is my top song that I could listen to on repeat until the day I die..who's still here in 2021?!
This song gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to it, especially while reading the lyrics
I remember watching their first concert, I remember staying up all night..
I love ADTR, they are quite possibly my favorite band in all.
