- Alice Springs, the heart of Australia's Red Centre, is a place like no other and a must-visit destination in the country.
Paul Murray Live ‘Our Town’ is brought to you by Harvey Norman, Sony Music Australia and NAB.
Went to Alice Springs over 20 years ago and the two highlights were the Aboriginal Cultural Center and watching the river fill in 24 hours. Now I see the city as a stop to top up on Diesel, water and food.
As a Martian, this place is livable to me.
Yes
Oh yeah totally a livable place 😂
Life thrives out here. The minute you don’t respect it, it’ll kill you.
I just randomly open Google earth & idk why goes to Australian satellite view and just started zooming exact middle of Australia which was deserted all around but then suddenly i found this town, lol this place is so lonely in the heart of desert not any mega city around it. Then i came here and it's good to see it
Every summer gets the spectacular lightning storms in the Australia’s Red Centre and it is fun to watch during the wettest months of November to February and beware of the flash floods especially along the Todd River in Alice Springs so people got swept away from the storms. Lightning is beautiful to watch in the heart of Australia.🇦🇺
wow, I heard about this place from the book. So I learn the history of Alice Springs from this video. Thanks.
Ignore a lot of what sky news says. There is a spring at the Telegraph centre. It’s still there today.
I visited Alice Spring in the beginning of 2000. I joined OZ Experience backpacker tour starting from Sydney.
looks like a town you'd visit in fallout 2
I visited Australia and what struck me most was how friendly the people were 😊
Radiator Springs
Toyota Springs more like
Love to visit someday. . .
GOD BLESS AUSTRALIA A COUNTRY WHO OPENED ITS ARMS TO ALL CULTURES OFFERING MANY OPPORTUNITIES AND A DECENTE LIFE!!!
I spent the last half of the year 1986 in this city, completing my year 11 in the Alice Springs High School. I lived with the Gillfedders in 25th Memorial Avenue, just two to three minutes walk from the school. I was participating in the unique annual festival of the city, the Heanly on Todd, of the year 1986, and it was a big fun for me.
The city was nice and, having not visited it since then, I would love to visit it someday if I get chance to. 😊
I was in Alice Springs High School the same year but I was in Year 8
@Crunchy Queef
Sad to hear this. I got no story about the violence of the youth you mentioned, in regard to the city. Could you please briefly explain it any further to let me know a bit of its nature? You can also help me by giving me links to any youtube channel if there are any that you know of, that cover the story.
Thank you.
I live in Alice and its dead AF. Most of us just stay home or go to our mates house. The only time you'll get to experience the town being alive is either at the rock bar or the casino and thats about it lol.
Or watch the insane antics of the creek dwellers bashing each other to death...
Was just looking up places on googles maps in Bulgaria, suddenly went to Australia to try an pinpoint the middle of the desert and found this town and found this video afterwards.
I live in Sofia, Bulgaria which has 1.4mil people, question is, why don’t you move out, if it is that bad and boring?
@@hrisalek same here lol
@@hrisalek LOL i did the same
Enjoy your time keep Alice spring alive 🤞
I love Alice!

I love you Australia
I haven't lived in Alice Springs in 14 years I Grew up there and last year and went to go visit and man it's not what it used to be. And if people say it's a great place to Visit there Lying Through their teeth. It was more welcoming 14 years ago
topgun0117 why? What’s wrong with it? I’m asking sincerely
@@unowen7591 Fuck yes..
@@wattsy4468 From Darwin downward anyone who is not a blackfella doesn't stand a chance, just look at Tennant Creek, an alcoholic infested shithole and Alice Springs is not too far behind.
@@harlem.31555 yeah Tennant and Elliot and places like that have got their fair share of problems.
@@davidlp3019 Katherine as well. That place was a dump the 1st minute I put foot into it. Nothing to do nowhere to go. The only plus is its 4 hours from Darwin a much better place
Alice Springs into action & starts packing bill-a-bong, LOL...😊
I tried some bandiberg ginger beer today, I think it's the first Australian food I've ever tried, soo good. really has a nice ginger kick. and yes they did pay me for this comment. P
Fuck off..
Would love to visit
@Ronove I would still like to visit.
@@firestone7198 Don't bitch to the police then if you get mugged or bashed by the locals then, two thirds of tourist experience this...
@@harlem.31555 - Right on, so true, it's a violent place, i saw all that on my only visit there back in - 1990...
Cheers, from Adelaide...👍
@@harlem.31555 your correct the police wont do shit if anything happens and spend more time questioning if you started it or if you are racist in anyway. They try to prove indirectly if your racist
I don't mean to sound ignorant, but is running water more expensive there?

I spent a week in Alice Springs - never again...

Yeah why
Yeah why why why ?
@@user-zj7iv6xv5o probably coz of the high crime rate
@@franklinclinton5967 oh , I see ! Thanks
Town of alice
I go there every month during the winter months and I stay in motel with 6 foot high enclosed fence closed at night. There are drunk Aboriginals wondering around all night every night screaming, fighting etc I think you get the picture.
sounds like nothings changed
I lived in Redfern Sydney 1972 3 was the same
So are there springs there?
?by Mona noorchaalida
Nein, das nicht.
How to go and visit Alice spring
Good question by Mona noorchalida
Fly
Why? are they going to stop us from going there soon?
@Dog Star Aboriginal welfare will follow.
Around 3:30, the people getting off the 'ghan' seem like they are being held at gunpoint to say something nice about it...I think the camera crew was threatening them to force them to say something nice...this is some kind of ghan propaganda video.
Land before time..
To many drank "locals" on the streets.
It's a way of life, regardless of race. If you don't follow football or Warwick Thorton then you are better off to keep on driving.
@L. Ron Hubbard so.....locals
@@harlem.31555 - Right on buster, it is the way of life up there, Cheers from Adelaide...👍
@@harlem.31555 No I live in Alice Springs and its heavy on the American influlance. If you don't dress like some sheep like everyone else you tend to be treated unfairly. It's hardly an accepting town for difference and certainly NOT A friendly town
Many are embarrassed for you. Learn to spell before your write.
Wow😢
I like Australia
I just want to know why the first person interviewed has a American accent lol
Probably because of Pine Creek
@@adamcheeseplease Definitely Pine Creek. My mate's dad worked at Pine Gap, and she and the whole family have got an American accent.
@@cazique I don't understand.
no mames una ciudad en medio de australia, como le haran para conseguir el agua en un desierto como ese

How often where there old times people live there natural life’s but now moderately make them drunk
This aged well
You are gay mate
To me its a dream place to visit. I think Australian govt should introduce new n lenient laws for immigrants to habitat such place.
It's the crime capital of Australia. Not a dream place to live, you need a reality check.
@@sammyflinders I don't know about that. Also this area Is known for serial killers like in Wolf Creek Movie
Went to Alice in December, it 46 degrees, almost passed out while drinking my duty free Jim beam lol. Not a bad place, just don't park your car on the street. There's alot of drunkn abos too
Holy sweetest fuck 46 degrees that's insane!!!🥵🥵🥵
@@danielrsson217146 degrees is pretty warm, what are you talking about?
I visited Alice Springs in December 1980...heard John Lennon death in radio....
I was born the very next day (December 9th). Turning 43 next month...
It's crime ridden
Guess I'll never visit now thanks to the government.
For what?
No thanks, I would have visited if I were going to go climb Ayers Rock, but now that’s not going to happen I have no interest in going there.
@Dog Star If whites went back to Europe you'd still be stuck with Muslims, Sudanese, Chinese, and all the others. Good luck with that.

I like Alice Springs actually.
Yeah its fine..IF YOU DON'T LIVE HERE. The town is BORING. Everywhere cool has closed down and the town is really feeling it. Nothing exciting ever happens here. And don't get me started on the American worship in this town. Enough of those stupid BB caps to make me want to PUKE
You’re kidding,riot?
"spectacular scene". Haha
lol so basically, nothing there?
yes its a shit hole
Interesting with Sky News they must have been paid for this one
Nothing there except a rock we can no longer climb.

The town's so isolated. I bet Covid-19 did not made it there.
Sadly no, but every other disease did; just look the Abo statistcs
@@harlem.31555 racist fuck
Covid-19 did indeed make it to Alice. But it was only about a handful of cases.

This didn't age well...
The least safest city.
Oh ya by Mona noorchaalida
YOLO
This didn't age well lol
Alice Springs is such a dead city, only thing remotely similar to a nightlife experience there is the rock bar
Good place to raise the AUSSIE flag on Australia day.
a pity some want Australia day abolished. That is ANTI-AUSTRALIAN if people dont like Australia or Australia day then get the FUCK OUT of Australia. Allow others to enjoy it and feel pride for our country
I don't think so
see it before the Chinese take it
The Chinese will be better than the current occupants. At least the Chinese are wealthy and civilised
Uh….I’ll pass.
???
Shouldnt be filming people out on the streets without permission
Oh ya by Mona noorchaalida
Do many racists watching Sky News. What a surprise.
Not any longer. You'll get knifed or worse.
I can’t figure out this guy’s accent.
American who moved to Australia in his early teens?
I swear I was wondering the same... was like: American Irish ummm whaaat?
Turn the place into a nuclear dump site so It actually becomes useful.
it will be if Pine base gets blown up.
