Also, that the West can outspend Russia, costing it its soldiers, economy, etc.
Thing is there is a big difference between being able to outspend Russia (which they clearly can) and having the will to outspend Russia which I seriously think they lack... just look how in the last 2 years the funding and popular support for Ukraine has fallen off as the war grinds on with no real end in sight.
Right now Ukraine is unable to function without western Support not just on the battle field but economically on the home front as well, the west effectively funds the Ukraine government to keep it operational..
however after 30 odd years of dumping Trillions into foreign conflicts that run for year if not decades without end the West and more importantly the western population at large has little appetite anymore for yet another endless war,
you can see the cracks appearing right now as most of that early optimize came to nothing and the dawning realization that there is once again no reasonable end in sight no matter the money being funneled into the conflict..
To be clear to date Russia has paid a hellish price for this war, loosing more men and equipment than I think NATO could stomach if the roles were reversed, but its does seem Russia is more committed to seeing this conflict to a bloody end than those it opposes in the West..at least as things appear right now.

freedom what an empty word if freedom means becoming a puppet
@@gerard02700 Having NATO bases on your soil is not freedom. It's called occupation.Ukraine could have it all.. freedom and peace and all those lives that they lost, but instead they chose to listen the most genocidal country in face of the earth.. England and Boris Johnson.. Nice move.
Doubling down from NATO has gotten us into this mess. All of these debates are great, except for the fact that my home country lost at least 200,000 youngest and strongest men. The men that were suppose to build up the county, raise kids and move us forward.
As an American, I am all for us dictating to the world how it should live, so that we stay the world’s leader. As a citizen of Ukraine, I ask … what price is too high for Washington?
That's a pretty ignorant take on the situation. The US/NATO backed Zelensky's decision to fight. It wasn't NATO's "doubling down."
As a citizen of Ukraine, would you prefer to live under Russian occupation? I know I certainly wouldn't.
LOL.. if losing 30 % of your territory, all your infrastructure, all your economy, 90% of your military, 80% of your housing for the people, all your agriculture while your adversary loses vvery little then yes, that sounds like a stalemate to me....
What a silly question!!!!
Is the west and the Nato countries not willing to deliver weapons, Ukraine will win.
😂😂😂😂😂
Is counteroffensive still ongoing? I thought UAF are on defensive now
Are you dreaming? 😂
Ukraine can never win the war against Russia.
You realize Russia has failed in wars with much weaker enemies than Ukraine right? Or is history not your strong side?

Disastrous interview. Asking the man to give his personal opinion on a point????????????Does this woman even know that ambassadors are not permitted personal opinions. Send this girl back to journalism school.
Slovakia a Hungry are nothing in the EU, it’s their way to complain about that.
DW, you don’t help our common cause at all and don’t seem to realize that Ukraine is fighting a war of freedom and democracy for of us all - enough of journalistic speculations, what are you complaining about… please respect the Ukrainians OR go fight on the frontline yourselves! As someone else phrased it, it’s a disgrace :(

"We need leadership to make right things" What an inspiring statement to end the interview with the ambassador. lol
Slow progress???
Ukraine has lost the war. In case you have any doubts;
There is a bigger picture beyond winning or losing. Russia had to be shown that the Western world will come together when needed, that NATO will expand its sphere of influence, and that even a much smaller country like Ukraine will not be easily conquered as Putin had hoped to do within a few weeks. Also, that the West can outspend Russia, costing it its soldiers, economy, etc.
@@sanfrancisco89 That's the good copium you have there.
Meanwhile in reality Russia still cant even take the Donbas.
@@foilhat1138 What does it matter if they are annihilating the Ukrainian army?
@@univeropa3363 Why is Russia attacking across almost the entire front, taking massive casualties and taking no ground?
The big question is: how on earth can't russia defeat ukraine??? Two years of war, and kiev is not even close to being conquered
Because they don't want and don't need to.

You asked. And that's one of the possibilities
No straight answer from the ambassador to even one question. Great line of questioning from the host. World really needs to evaluate the priorities and bring this war to an end. This can't go on forever. No country can continue to keep aside a portion of the budget forever, when there are so many homeless people back home
You are very ignorant, the reason why Ukraine has to fight for ALL territory is because if they don't they seize to exist it's not something you can just end, a genocide has been committed a massacre has been done by Russia these are not innocent, or equals to Ukraine innocent civilians got missiles fired at the apartment complexes by the Russians this war is not for fun this war is for existence, and they have every right to fight for ALL territory that belongs to Ukraine.
Nothing bright in your comment, as your nickname indicated.
Interesting that not even one time they've mentioned a word peace, even when you are losing.. Of course, It's not Zelensky's children and father that is fighting in war. " We can still win" also came from another failed leader, before the very end.
Because there is no peace, Russia wants Ukraine to stay out of the EU, the EU isn't manly enough to send in the troops, and Russia knows this.@@VesnaLukic-h8w
What are "securities guarantees"? In 1994 usa, germany and even russia has signed the security guarantees for Ukraine in exchange to Ukraine giving up on it's nukes - and how much did that provided of actual defense? The war was since 2015. Territiries were torn (Crimea) - noone lifted a finger at that stage to help. Nowadays they just say - give up more territories and lives of people for some other "guarantees".
Ukraine got its security guarantee when she was militarily neutral toward Russia. Then she decided to align itself against Russia and put that into her constitution, against the prevalent opinion of its people btw. That kind of realignment tends to shake things up wouldn’t you agree.
@@katrinad2397 yeah, sure.
1) "Ukraine decided to align against Russia" - Like the latter had nothing to do with it. For example - detaching it's territories, moving in the forces etc. Meh, can't be related, of course...
2) Ukraine is independend country, and Russia or any other country can't dictate the direction and choices it's making, not, especially, by force. It's neither legal nor ethical. Unfortunately Russia doesn't know the meaning of those words.
Summary: +15RUB to your account from your employers, russian bot, for the troll comment.
Ukraines government decided to align against Russia militarily in 2007 or 2008. No territories were annexed at that time. And yea Ukraine is independent and sovereign. So is Mexico, but should she, in a feat of independence, decide to align herself militarily let’s say with China against US …. Geeky that’s real lame to assume that everyone who doesn’t support further demolition and murdering of Ukraine are paid in Rubles. You might as well assume that about the DW interviewer here. Ukraine’s leaders have always known their country doesn’t have the resources to fight this war, so they should have not taken the path way back before 2014. I bet you were one of those who hailed the Iraqi freedom too, where is it now. You forgot haven’t you.

Ukraine could never defeat Russia. Russia was playing softball in the beginning. Russia is still using a peace tie force.
Why are you so biased towards US? You should at last admit that you have dramatically lost. Paid more than 30 billions euros for air and lost. And you should start observing your interests. I have learned today for example that Michellin is leaving Germany. Is that good?
the correct title is: "Can Kyiv/NATO still defeat Russia?"
980 millions lost on overseas accounts... these clowns are going to lose
