Tried a slight variation of this build at a Goat locals yesterday and did pretty well with it (X-1 in Swiss). Didn't have a copy of merch or two spies on hand, so I replaced them with the third MoF (fuck it), a spirit reaper, and DDWL. The reaper came in handy in one of those duels where I was able to keep it alive and force my opponent to set everything they drew, but I do think having the spies would have been better overall. Also threw Token Thanksgiving in the side for the burn matchup and it's always fun to resolve that card.
Good list for sure. I especially liked your explanations for Morphing Jar and Trap Dustshoot because in addition to the discussion for this specific list, you also gave a more broad picture of the metagame as a whole, which is how many of these "tech" style cards have to be evaluated to take an honest look at them.
You could also tech giant trunade instead of heavy storm and put in a cheeky big bang shot for fun. Trunade gives you the cheeky premature double use bounce as well as bouncing the dead call on your field because jinzo was out. Trunade also lets you set an aggressive backrow and lets you backrow wipe without worrying about losing your traps in the process. It could also give you enough cards to discard for tribe to win a game via backrow bouncing. Big bang shot can remove a monster that it was equipped to via trunade. It's also a funny card to put on asura priest against 4 goats.
im not a fan of asura priest, I think enemy controller is better than asura/swap. triple enemy controller can do great things for you. 1- it can take your opponents thousand eyes and let you tribute it off for your jinzo or another enemy, or you meta their thousand eyes for your thousand eyes. 2- it can disrupt plays during your opponents turn, like tributing the banish target of BLS and taking BLS and just going "ok now what you can't get over your BLS now unless you want to kill it" 3- it can kill berserk gorilla via defense position death not that many people play berserk, but it's a nice 1 for 1 trade. 4- it counters jinzo in that you can either take it and drop your board or you can put it into defense and walk over its 1500 defense. 5- it basically becomes a free brain control if you got goats on the field, Not only that it's a battle phase brain control, you can attack with one monster then tribute that monster to take another monster and go for game and force opponents trap. 6- you can troll opponent by taking their flipped faith by tributing a goat preventing meta from being used that turn due to no target. Then you can take it again next turn with brain/snatch/enemy and use book to flip flop it and get pot of greed back (happened in one of my games)
Very interesting build! After bubbling in my first GGP this year with a literal 2004 goat control build lol and seeing how unexplored the format is still, I felt that the deck can definitely be updated with a more modern approach to do well and is very underrated in the meta
Will it possible to implement OCG series 1 and 2 (with the big ATK/ DEF box lay out from the anime) card skin on your simulator ? That would be a killer feature !
I like brain control but I like I like the other one where you can take control of it even if it's set but you can't atk with it. I love that for mirror matches. Give me that MoF boy
Awesome list my friend! Wanted to ask you your thoughts for Mobius? That boy won me games many times seeing how chaos runs a big backrow. Great list gonna give it a shot :)
It depends on the meta. There are a decent number of decks right now that just run entirely chainables: Jar of Greed, Raigeki Break, etc. Jinzo is better vs these cards than Mobius is. Top Goat Control decklists have played Mobius before, but I just don't think it's the best choice at this moment.
I think lily is very strong in goat control, the ability to deal massive damage and potentially lethal with a lv3 normal summon is a very strong option
Maybe Guard over the second spy? But then again there's Blade Knight and bouncing a card doesn't doesn't seem all that great but can combo with Tsuki. I'm also think that Cyber Jar + Reaper might be worth looking into too, just spit balling some ideas lol
How i'd built my goat control deck for 2023? Completely different from the only bunch of this deck that has achieved some kind of result in 2022. Seems legit
If you're always playing whatever did well in the last event, then it means that you're perpetually one step behind the meta. Look forward, not backwards.
Love creature swap in this. I haven't played Goat format in person since about 2013, is creature swap a pretty common thing nowadays? bear in mind that Warrior was still basically non existent at this point.
Isn't Sasuke Samurai better than Mystic Swordsman LV2? He has 800 Def, which means that if he attacks Magician of Faith and gets stopped by Book on Moon, the Faith cannot kill him in battle.
sasuke samurai only destroys face up defense monsters so your opponent's face down monster's flip effect resolves, lv2 kills face down ones without letting them flip face up
Here it may be true, but for aggresive decks 900 is quite relevant damage, with a 1800 or more beater, attacking him directly becomes a third of your opponent's life points
@@GoatDuels What about Exiled Force vs MS Lv 2? To me it seems like Exiled is way better because you can get rid of face up monsters and it can't be stopped with Saku. But maybe you have a different take.
What's your opinion on DB not allowing deck checks after nobleman? I think it's very dumb and now I can get any info on what traps my opp is running for games 2/3.
They explained this pretty adequately imo, the purpose of the noc check has never been to get information but to verify the lack of targets. Especially in both a timed tournament setting and on software where you’re able to screenshot, noc deck check should not happen
Never liked goat control always felt super slow and involves a lot of sacky 2 card comboes you can easily dead draw and also when the deck is super slow solemns are a detriment. Always preferred Chaos which is faster and more powerful. And before anyone says oh youre just a trend follower for playing Chaos turbo no I've been playing it since like 2016. Don't @ me.

awesome stuff man
I've had a ton of success with a copy of royal decree in the sakuretsu spot and a golem sentry instead of premature burial
Don't know how I feel about 1 Tsuk and no book in main. Can make it hard to out your thousand-eyes if you have a face-down equipped.
Agree but presumably that’s the point of the second tribute, trades off more consistency/coverage for Jinzo and Dmoc being win conditions
You could main 1 Book of Moon if you want. Book just isn't as strong as it used to be, so some Goat Control decks aren't playing it anymore.
im not a fan of asura priest, I think enemy controller is better than asura/swap. triple enemy controller can do great things for you.

Mind Control
brain control is used in the deck to combo with meta and unlike mind control you can use brain control to tribute for cards like jinzo or dmoc
