4 years ago in 2019 , i was freaked of giving UPSC CSE exam and became an IAS. Without knowing the true fact , how hard is to clear, i purchased books , notes wasted money. Due to the poor financial condition, couldn't join IAS coaching . Started preparing by own and realized what the weight of my. Eventually i Stopped dreaming and started preparing for simple govt exams which i may clear, has 50% chance atleast.
I could know what God wanted to say and where my destiny is. What I'll get at future, i have to satisfy 😌. No need to be an IAS and IPS and get Govt offered car , house , servants. No need to get Political pressure. Those becoming IAS , congratulations for them .
For these i can't loss my valuable time. We average can't clear the exam even after 6 attempts, no matter how dedicated i am. Live your life with what you get, we all unique, no need to compare with others.
Lastly i want to say those media and youtubers who are working hard to making motivational videos of IAS , please don't be biased. Only an IAS be a good govt job ?others like IPS IRS SSC CGL CHSl Rail State Govt jobs all ignorable? Among 4 lakhs 900 can clear the exam, out of 900 100 become IAS.
So please stop running for it , many more options you have.

    4 culture of nepotism

    6. Topper becoming a pseudo celebrity & disproportionate motivation by coaching industry for upsc.
    7. Feudal minded bureaucrat acting like king in local areas, indirectly motivating same type of ppl.

You get tested the most when it’s time for you to elevate. When you feel like falling back into your old patterns, remember why you started, remember where you’re headed, think of how great it will be to get there, and keep going. Your future self will be proud... 🌻✨

It sounds cool and everything. But there are a big chunk of people clearing UPSC CSE without having a decent philosophy. I have friends in Civil Services and I hear interesting things.
CSE requires a specific type of reading. If you have a natural aptitude for it, you will enjoying studying because you see your syllabus is getting covered fast. It is a positive feedback loop. 70-90 percent of discipline comes naturally then.
You might be excellent in understanding tough topics by yourself and solving problems, but you might not be good at rote-learning coaching and newspaper content.
I have seen so many people leaving the UPSC journey to even join top 3 IIMs with a big career gap. It is because their talent is different.
Usain Bolt started as a cricketer, but he only discovered himself at sprinting.
Don’t fantasise civil services if the exam prep is not working for you. Don’t judge yourself for failing at this. This is not an exam of capability, it is an exam for specific type of studying.
I like how many civil servants are genuinely lovely people, but some actually think they have some superb character exclusive to them that helped them get there.
