    You can do it bud! Keto is much easier nowadays. Back in 2008 I went from 314lbs to 225lbs (without exercise) in 9 months by limiting my carbs to 20 a day. The first 2 weeks are definitely the hardest then it's clear sailing. Also don't let people temp you! So many people will tell you your doing great you look amazing you need to treat yourself. Don't do it! For me I'm an all or nothing guy. I'm fine without the sugar but if I have one piece of cake, one chocolate bar, one donut anything like that I wont be able to stop. Woman are especially bad for tempting you. They want that fish and chips when you go to the pub but will be embarrassed to eat it while your only ordering a grilled chicken Ceasar salad (hold the croutons), so they tell you to let loose and treat yourself. The real treat is the feeling you get when the weight peels off. Hang in there bud we are all routing for you. Also one other safety tip for riding your Harley don't ride when you are emotional! If you just had a fight with your woman or are angry at that guy in the cage that cut you off you are much more likely to make a mistake or get careless. Be smart and keep your emotions in check, take 10 minutes and clear your head if you need to before you get back on the bike.

    I'm 67, and I honestly can say I've never felt better. 6'2" and 185 lbs. I do the OMAD (one meal a day) and stay away from fast food and snacks. Exercise regularly and drink plenty of water and NO "energy drinks". It is very hard in the beginning to maintain this type of lifestyle because everywhere you go there is unhealthy stuff staring you in the face. But how important is it to feel not just good but great. To me it is just the only way to live. Plus you save alot of money by not impulse buying a snack at the checkout register.
    Anyway, I want to thank you for your content, a healthy you and a healthy bike makes for so much fun.

    More good directions for the big boys like I used to be. All of this works as I went from 265 lbs at 6.2 down to 200 lbs (actuality is 198-205 lbs average) 4 yrs ago doing a lot of this type of planning. Some of us take better care of our scooters than ourselves so it's great to level up on all of it. Body fat melts away just doing what you do everyday. I actually attained 6 pack abs with mild flexing without working out by taking those layers off my whole frame. I didn't expect that but it works. Thumbs up on this good info, keep riding.

    Sound advice Eamon. If you grew up around old school gymnasiums, knew old school body builders and strong men in the 50's, 60's and 70's then you probably already know how all this works... Fortunately I learnt all this early in life and the "fear" of eating saturated fats i.e butter, whole eggs, steaks with fat and full fat yoghurt was never an issue... Low fat, high fibre, high fruit, high grain, low protein is a recipe for disaster. Long term this will cause weight gain, irritable bowl syndrome, wheat intolerance, allergies, inflammation of muscles, tendons and joints and eventually diabetes... The pharmaceutical industry has infiltrated all institutions including the CSIRO and universities... I hope people have been able to join the dots now, especially with the recent theatre and fear mongering of the phantom airborne boogyman.

    Very happy you broached the subject of 'oil' mate. I'm new to Harleys, so when it was time for a service, I noticed Harley recommended (HD) 'mineral' oil over 'full-synthetic', so I gave them a call to understand why and they said it was because Harleys tend to burn synthetic oils a little more than mineral. They also mentioned that their oils are best for Harleys because they have HD-specific additives. I noticed the engine noise went up a bit after the oil change, but couldn't be too sure, so I'm glad you mentioned that specifically. What oils are you guys using?

    • @OldNotDead-Club
      @OldNotDead-Club  Год назад +2

      Same happened to me, bike was noisy, dealer put HD mineral oil in and it runs much quieter, but takes longer to warm up and become quieter. I have read that the additives are the only differences between oils?

    • @ashwynfernandes
      @ashwynfernandes Год назад +1

      @@OldNotDead-Club so from your experience, the mineral works better and keeps the engine quieter then? I only use my bike and 4x4 a couple times each week (and live 2 minutes from the freeway) so summer or winter, I let my vehicles idle for 2-3 minutes to get the oil circulating and the engine temps up before I drive away.

    Synth because it maintains its viscosity longer and I'm too lazy to change it every couple of months. I use 93 octane in a 107 w/ Stage 1, because if I don't and I nail the throttle the engine knocks. I find that on most motorcycle engines, despite claims of running on lower grades of fuel. They'll all run fine on cheap gas if you don't gun the engine, particularly at lower rpm. As I recall, my Thruxton is supposed to run on regular, but it behaves just like the HD under a shock load. I do find twins are more apt to have a single loud metallic ping which gets the operator to get off the gas. Multicylinder bikes tend to sound more like a someone dropped a box of bee bees in the engine. Not as startling, but not great for the engine either.

    Carnivore diet?
    Keto diet... What about beer? Life without beer? Ugh.
    Motorcycle Drop Guards --> Slow Speed Maneuver Practice.
    Cornering/curves... Additional tips... Look through the turn... Where you want to go... Because the bike is going to go where you are looking. If you look where you don't want to go, you are going to go where you don't want to go. Take it easy on blind curves - leave plenty of margin. Don't try to be a knee dragging Joe Rocket on every curve you see.
    Seats... Old man bones... One of the most important upgrades. I'm a big fan of Russell Day Long seats.
    Riding cold is not good. But you can ride in the cold/winter (I do it every year). Heated gear works great. Warm & Safe is a good place to look.
    Summer heat... Have to agree... T-shirt (w/arm sleeves for sunscreen) in the summer. Not ideal. But it is what it is. Also wear a half helmet. Also not the greatest. But, can't get around the wind buffeting issue with full-face helmet and windscreen.

    Tell the young man to cut out ALL SUGAR, all heavily processed junk, get his fasted insulin level, and monitor his glucose levels regularly. If he brings down the fat storage hormone insulin the weight will come off quickly. He should eat lots of protein and good fat like grass fed butter, avocados premium grade olive oil lots of fatty meat like ribeye. And by all means stop cooking with seed oils.

    I would strongly advise you consult with your local healthcare professional; doctor, pharmacist, dietician before radically changing your diet as a weight loss strategy. Exercise is a good addition to weight loss strategy, and an increase in general fitness and well being.

    It pays to be health conscious from as early an age as you can. Don't wait until you are overweight, have high cholesterol and blood pressure or whatever before you do anything to start living a healthy lifestyle.
    It's common sense and doesn't take a lot of effort.

    There are low carb breads off the shelf that are OK, goes good with a steak sandwich or burger and easier than going cold turkey on carbs. I guess it is like a nicotine patch for a smoker trying to quit.

    One more point. Your doctor (big pharma sales rep) will probably go crook and tell you eating like that will kill you. You have to make the choice to be responsible for your own health, do your own research. Also, I was addicted to Coca Cola. Tried and could never ditch it. I found switching to that cheap Q cola brand allowed me to get off it. Still have too many setbacks with the carnivore, mostly cause family aren't doing it, but when following it can see the positive benefits 100%. Even sleep better. Wake earlier. Feel better mentally.

    Go Keto! Lost 40 pounds and cleared up 20 other problems that I thought were due to aging. Drawback - it's much harder to push a 675 pound bike having gone from 200 to 160.

    How to keep your Harley alive hmm park it in your garage or on your lawn lol. That’s what many do cause they are to focused on their trade in value vs actually riding.

    A couple of years ago I went vegan in an attempt to improve my health. That was a serious mistake. For the last 6 weeks I have been pure carnivore. I’m down 17 pounds! My blood pressure is so low that I’m off my meds for the first time in 20 years. Screw carbs! Tell your friend to try pure meat for a month. He won’t be craving carbs after that. In fact I rarely get hungry and I eat one meal a day. And honey is NOT an animal product. It’s pure sugar.
    Every measure of my health is the best it has ever been! I’m sticking with it until I reach my weight from 50 years ago. Then I’ll introduce low carb plants.
