Introducing the Nick Shabazz Modular Knife, Pen, and Sword Stand

- Today, I'd like to introduce a completely free and open project I've created, which allows you to create a modular stand for knives, pens, and swords, for arbitrary sizes and numbers, which you can print or fabricate yourself. Code is at github.com/nickshabazz/knifeh...

Nick is so transparent he told us he supplied his own product. Bravo.
All it's missing is the iconic Nick Shabazz gem and maybe some neon green skulls
Ah, a ziggurat of knives. That’s like the hanging gardens of Spyderco, leaning tower of benchmade, or Great Wall of civivi.
Love how it’s bias against himself not for himself. Bravo Nick
“Because I would’ve took a look at it before I took a look at it.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My first reaction was “you lost me at code”, but as I kept watching, it became easy to understand and not intimidating at all. This plan can work for so many different applications outside of its intended use. Nick, you’re very good at turning people on… to new and interesting things. You were the first to get me back into knives in 2016. Thank you.
That was my goal, to make this something usable for people who don't generally write code :)
So maybe you can’t design a knife but you sure can design a thing. Well done sir!!
Good to see “The Nick” more often here lately👍
Of course The Nick Shabazz uses OpenSCAD like a beast. "Free and Open Source, which is very important to me." Indeed, sir, indeed!
Very nice looking stand Nick. Thank you for your generosity in sharing the code. Always like your videos.
Thank you, Nick! Very kind of you!
This is a well thought off tool Nick, very well done!
I did still carry it upstairs.... I love this content sooo much! Happy you're here again and it seems you had some fun
I like it nick. I miss you man. I think you are responsible for getting me obsessed with knives. Good to see you back man.
I’ve been watching for years now and I love the modified disclaimer 😂
I've been testing around myself with making a knife stand . Ty for this!
You are so cool Nick. Really. I know this would be too much extra work to become a part of the channel on a regular basis but I really enjoyed watching this!
So cool Nick. I'd been meaning to do exactly this with my new 3D Printer. Printing my first one now. Thank you!
LMFAO. The opening had me crack up. You are gangsta
Thank you Nick. I've been trying different knife holder designs posted online and this looks pretty nice. I have a 5x holder going on a 3d printer right now!
Ok I've printed several variations to this design. I've working on a number of tweaks to your scad file. The geometries get rather weird for stands >3 knives on the handle side, you have all these intersecting pillars. I would recommend putting on rubber feet on the bottom, depending on printing medium a perfectly flat base isn't guaranteed, and even if it is flat a plastic stand on a glass or slick surface with sharp knives on them seems rather unsafe.
@@ai42 I'm currently trying 8. It gets VERY weird. This is too much power for me to be freely given.
This proves how Nick is simply the Best 🙏
Speaking of pens , I went through your channel looking to see when was the last time you did a pen video, it's been a while. I love your fountain pen videos :'(
Very generous of you
Sweet project you did there 👍
That's pretty cool. Thanks Nick
Awesomeness from The Nick!
Awesome Nick, Thanks!
Really appreciate this project being a Git repository, you're keeping it classy usual Mr. Shabazz. I think I might get a stand cast in bronze or aluminum at some point!
Love this. Open source is nothing new but OpenSCAD doesn't get enough attention. It's also rare that something that's open source is explained so well and not overwhelmingly complex.
Very cool Nick! A truly GREAT ZIGGURAT OF coURse.
I always suspected you were one of those smart guys. Very clever!
❤ love it 😊
We need a Nick Shabazz 3d printer review.
For a second there I thought I'd slept through to April 1st! Pen holder on your sword rack!😂
I like it!
Nice Nick, would work great for displaying an AD20, 20.5, and Shark Cub.
The man the myth the legend
Awesomeness and thiccness. Thank you Nick, you made my day 😂
Never heard of this Nick Shabazz but he has a catchy name
Hell yeah. This rules.
“I would’ve taken a look at it before I took a look at it”
Nicely done Nick. Gonna enjoy people who are code wizards using this to send you ungodly creations though
I made a nick esque contraption myself based off of your edc tools/lube holder and made a short showing it off, you're a true jackassery savant
Should have a carbide sharpener inlayed on the blade side.
Very crafty idea! Admittedly, when I saw 'modular', visions of patch cords danced in my head.
I envy the folk with access to 3D printing for doodads like this. I'd probably have an easier time making something similar out of wood (albeit crude!), but conversely, not everyone will have access to the necessary tools for that. "Do NOT get into woodworking!"
Love you Nick, I’m gonna give you an upvote, but dont have time to watch this to see if it parody (hopefully) or serious (sad?). Love ya buddy!
Dammit I thought YOU were making them an I wanted a signed one!
I mean, I'll print and sign one, but the cost will not be particularly low with shipping and time. Shoot me an email!
Very cool design. Wondering if there is an easy way to make a single print a combo so I could set it up for holding a knife, torch and pen on one stand?
You can absolutely do that using the file and the functions provided, but you'll need to manually add the positions and locations of the knife, pen, and light. But it's not hard at all to do.
"Bias against myself" 😂😂😂
Carry it upstairs, but did the Mrs. Make you bring it back to the basement? …. Been there.
this is awesome! im going to be giving this a try asap!
modular watch display when?
So I should get into watches and 3d printing I understood watching that thing. 🤔
Extremely cool! Anyone have recommendations on a 3D printer? This makes me want to jump into the habit, myself
I'm a big fan of Prusa's printers. Open code, open parts, and effective too.
@@NickShabazz Thank you!
Can you do one for hard shell tacos?
Technically, you could, by switching to sword mode and then making the notch both very wide and very deep.
I've never had a hard shell taco that was both easy to sharpen and held a good edge.
Also, despite being pocket sized they just don't hold up to daily pocket carry.
That would be great for fishing rods, if it were 4 ft long
I mean, technically, you can make it 4 feet long with the right printer...
@@NickShabazz thanks Nick! I wonder if they could be made telescopic? Hmm.
@@NickShabazzcouldn’t you just print the ends and attach to a 2x1 or some such long strip of material?
Absolutely, yes. But I like the idea of a 6 foot long print 🤣
My printer took 31 hours to print an 11 knife stand. I could not fit more slots in without making the slots too small to hold knives with pocket clips, or too tall for my print bed.
I recommend not doing that. Four is good. Four is reasonable.
The review seems a little bias to me, you always say good things about this manufacturer 😅😅😅
Should the comment on line 43 not be "// To put the handle on the left, change the below two statements to read 'righthandlepos' and 'rightbladepos' "
Second! Ha Ha
First! Ha
Ummm...
3d printed junk
The nice part about completely free 3D printed objects is that you're not obligated to print them. 🤣
Do you spend a lot of your day judging dude's junk on the internet?
