Nice video, lots of good info in there. I honestly don’t understand why people keep getting stressed about water in the engine bay. It does rain, and in fact it does absolutely pour in some states. I’m pretty sure Chevy did some thorough testing with water in the engine bay, and they probably used a lot more water than any of us are going to use.
GM did not say this engine bay is water proof, so there is risk overtime if water keeps going in. When there is risk , it is bad for car owners period. Your assumption is useless.
I enjoyed this video. You may laugh at me, but I just put blue painters tape over the holes and bottom of glass. Seems to work for me. Very cheap and easy. Cheers!
ANOTHER GREAT INFORMATIVE VIDEO REDLINER KEEP THOSE VIDEOS COMING BROTHER! CAN’T WAIT FOR THE MODS YOU GOT COMING TO YOUR NEW CORVETTE! LAS VEGAS IN THE HOUSE STAY SAFE! ROBERT 🚗🙋🏻♂️😷
GM already solved this. Open the trunk and wash everything. Designed to get wet. C8TrunkCover is the licensed Corvette accessory you’re looking for. Also you just foam and wash everything when washing the car and then use a blower - done. 10 minutes no touch. Even easier if engine bay and exterior is ceramic coated as you mentioned.
I'm a little surprised you are using a power washer to rinse but you learn something new every day. Just recently got my C8 and these are great tips, eventually, I'll fabricate some type of vent cover or layover to prevent excess water leakage. As a 20 year Submariner, we are pretty good at keeping water out of the people tank. 🙂
Just a thought for folks. I don’t use a pressure washer. Pressure is not needed. Next I put painters tape over the vents. It’s not expensive and takes no time at all. Cheers!
...beautiful car...like your minimal rear spoiler...most youtubers love that massive Gurney wing...it adds weight, inhibits storage access, and absolutely SLOWS YOU DOWN..had a 455 trans am that had spoilers all around...no more...lol...
THANKS for a great video. I have a a C-8 on order which I am expecting soon. I have a Audi R-8, and I have not experienced too many problems with water entering the engine compartment. I also have a C-7 that I will be trading in on the C-8. Where can I find the " WATER BEAD " product? THANK YOU....
Washing the c8 was covered by Mr.Juechter. No car washes and spray from front not directly into grill around glass. Just a fyi from another vette man. Love the sebring orange.
Exactly! I would never spray intro the glass gap, with a pressure washer no less. Spray from above going toward the trunk or seal from underneath with plastic and some kind of tape.
@jai yen yen Hello. I am sure that pressure washing your C7, & a C8 for that matter, is just fine. i just would NOT spray upward with any hose from the rear of the C8 and into the opening that exists for the sole purpose of dissipating heat from the engine. Why allow water to get into the engine compartment when one can spray from the top toward the back & minimze the entry of water?
What power washer is that? I never use my power washer it would probably blow the paint off but yours looks awesome and easier to use. I guess if I was washing I wouldn’t spray directly at the vents but I know you were doing a demonstration. I wonder if the engine was cool could you lay some sort of plastic on top the engine to block some of the water
Why would you force water & soap into the vents . . . use a regular hose with a shower nozzle setting & don't concentrate on the vents. Don't use a pressure washer on a car.
I think all of the energy of a Honda Gas 8500 PSI pressure washer with narrow nozzle (For deep cleaning) aimed directly at the glass, vents AND paint about one inch away from the surface should give it the deep clean everybody is looking for.
Please Try Cajun Shine all You will never use another product to wax your vette again. It takes 20 minutes to do the whole car. No wax residue and your car will be smooth just like you clay bared your car.
This is the 4th video that I have watch about water getting into the engine bay. Well if you dry the car off first before opening the engine bay, I am sure that there would be less water in the compartment.
I was loving this car until now, but now that I'm thinking about it, what if one stops on a carwash with a HOT engine, and cold water goes in the bay and hits that HOT engine block, hmmm.
Quinten Racing, C8 CAR WASH COVERS - COUPE Color: Blue, I ordered some but have not gotten them yet! i am hoping they help with issue! 😀great video and imfo@
No. If you stop and think about your regular cars... as you drive through the rain, the underside of your engine bay is fully exposed. In fact, most hoods don't have rubber seals of any kind. Most people don't notice because it's not being seen through a glass window. The C8 or any other car like it was designed to handle water with no issues
@@nbit69 thanks for answering. I asked this question a year ago and I bought a C8 Stingray 6 months ago. Have driven in the rain several times with no problem. Lol.👍
Anyone who knows about cars would NEVER use a pressure washer. It will over time scratch the paint by blasting the dirt against the paint surface. Use low pressure home hose to remove loose dirt and then hand wash. I never in 11 years use anything but a hand wash on my C6 and it looked like it was fresh off the showroom floor.
First who washes their car by aiming water at the heat extractor. When your Driving in the rain, the water will be going down over the roof and extractor not forced up into it like you are doing. Second, have you seen the water test that GM puts the car through. It is much harsher and harder than what you will get from a rain storm or from washing your car. Third, you open the engine compartment up before drying or blowing the water off, so naturally it was going to spill into the engine compartment. With regards to the soap on the car, how much water does it take using a POWER WASHER to rinse a car off( again I am watching you spray the water into the extractor). If you washed it correctly, you would not have to use that big blower to dry the engine compart. As for he rest of the video, you did not show anything that was new to washing and cleaning a car.
Thx for the video. I wish all 1.6k people that watched it would have hit the like button. Us viewers have to do a better job. It takes nothing to hit it.
So a lot of newbies to mid engine car ownership I’m guessing. Because almost all have vented engine bays. They figured it would get water in and designed accordingly. 😂

would be cool if gm sold water blockers for the engine vents when u want to wash ur car
My man out here again with another 🔥 🔥🔥 videoo
Great pointers man. Going to buy that stuff now and do this over the weekend. best c8 channel ive seen
Man loving the content recently keep it up👍👍👍

WOW gonna do this on mine over the weekend thanks bro!
I put a few beach towels in those critical areas and stay aware not to stay spraying too long. That takes care of 99% of the issue.
I enjoyed this video. You may laugh at me, but I just put blue painters tape over the holes and bottom of glass. Seems to work for me. Very cheap and easy. Cheers!

Thank you for sharing this video. I sure hope they fix this problem in the future. You got that Beauty lookin' Good 🏁

Someone should make an after-marked rubber or foam window opening blocker to use while washing the car. Seems easy.

Greetings from Roanoke 👋🏾 beautiful Vette 😍 my favorite color 🧡🧡🧡🧡
The corrosion on the aluminum after taking the belly pan off is crazy. The c8 dry blocks are well worth the money.
All that extra work can be avoided by going with the convertible.
And 15000 more dollars
These cars look better w/o a spoiler. this is the best looking c8 ive seen so far.
I'd powder coat those rims black though 👍
Washing the c8 was covered by Mr.Juechter.

I’m a big fan of Bead Maker! It makes waxing obsolete and it versatile as you have demonstrated in your video.
Yea, I would design a car that has holes on the top so rain can go right inside. Makes sense to me.!!!
That engine bay looks WAYYYYYY better from the before. Impressed
It looks horrible - did you not notice all the water stains and the dirt under the window ledge??
NOTIFICATION GANGGGGGGGGG
Great video, I also think they should make the engine bay open/close electrically
That would totally piss me off if i owned one of those ugh.

Yes, and spray toward the back, not at the vents

You mentioned it around the 5-minute Mark that you were going to do a foam Cannon I never saw any foam Cannon I just saw you use a wash mitt
Is it Bead Maker or B Maker?
People need to chill 🤭 the car was designed and tested for all conditions including water in the engine compartment.
Couldnt you add guides that can be locked in place while washing. Theb unattach them when youre done?
Thank You for sharing, your video is very informative.

You will never use another product to wax your vette again. It takes 20 minutes to do the whole car. No wax residue and your car will be smooth just like you clay bared your car.
I simply put two large beach towels right under the vents they catch 100% of the water coming through the vents.
This is the 4th video that I have watch about water getting into the engine bay. Well if you dry the car off first before opening the engine bay, I am sure that there would be less water in the compartment.
Why was this not identified as a problem when GM did the water test during the assembly line ?
What about using "waterless" car wash products ?
What is the name of that product?? Looks great, I want to try some.
I was loving this car until now, but now that I'm thinking about it, what if one stops on a carwash with a HOT engine, and cold water goes in the bay and hits that HOT engine block, hmmm.
Put a towel on top of the motor yo-yos
Can you u use the bead maker on the trunk seal?
Is bead maker really that great?
Quinten Racing, C8 CAR WASH COVERS - COUPE Color: Blue, I ordered some but have not gotten them yet! i am hoping they help with issue! 😀great video and imfo@
I also ordered them did you receive it yet?
@@lazsosa8711 yes! and have used them! I like them and great product! It did take about 60 days! but i think they are worth it.😀
@@michaelmanley8046 Thank you I should be receiving mine soon been almost 8 weeks now
What's the name of the product he is using?
Or get the convertible and not have to deal with it at all. Love that color inside and out. Looks great without the spoiler.
your bolts and nuts are going to rust.
I wouldnt worry about cleaning, I'd worry about the fact the entire engine gets soaked- jesus
such an easy fix. just put towels over the vents when spraying.
Ultimate confirmation bias video
Have fun with rusted engines in the future 😂
why would you take to car like this with water blaster
Don’t wash it
Is this dangerous to the engine? Will it cause stalling problems if driving in rain storms?
No. If you stop and think about your regular cars... as you drive through the rain, the underside of your engine bay is fully exposed. In fact, most hoods don't have rubber seals of any kind. Nice video dude! But maybe you shouldn't wear jeans when detailing a car
do you love your baby, then take pampers

i also would not be washing with a power washer. it will damage the paint.
What can I say. Another poor quality American Automobile. I hate saying that but it’s the truth.
You suck
😂🤦♂️🤦♂️ don't say if u cant afford one
