We have a severely handicapped child and were told he would only live for 2 weeks. He is 22 years old now, happy and healthy. There have been many hard decisions to make, but we always remember that we are here to do things FOR him, not TO him. I thinks that's what Sophia's parents did also. Sometimes difficult, but always the right thing to do...
My sister is mentally challenged and had a life expectancy of five years. We celebrated her 67th birthday this year and feel blessed to have her every day. God bless you and your son.

I think even the mom knows she wouldn't have carried the pregnancy to term if she had have known sooner. But you're right, it worked out well.

I was a real stepmom. He lost his mom. He called me mom. I was blessed to have his love in my life until he took his last breath. I was holding one hand and running my fingers through his hair, he loved that. As he was taking his last breath he was looking straight into my eyes. He was blind by that time one eye going one way and the other another. They were straight when he passed. It made me believe that we are whole again in heaven.

I was a real stepmom. He lost his mom. He called me mom. I was blessed to have his love in my life until he took his last breath. I was holding one hand and running my fingers through his hair, he loved that. As he was taking his last breath he was looking straight into my eyes. He was blind by that time one eye going one way and the other another. They were straight when he passed. It made me believe that we are whole again in heaven.
