    Few things about Linux mint that I have found good is they didn't change the core UI that much..
    Most of the time their refinements are under the hood. It's not like windows that evey new major OS has a completely different UI, they just stick with their fundamental design like Mac OS did. It doesn't matter what new update is their fundamental remains the same.
    Secondly installation experience is amazing. Driver manager saves a lot of terminal work.
    Out of the box flatpak support. Installing dependencies directly from the software manager.
    Can install MS Office.
    Open folder as root
    Time shift by default
    Inclueds leagacy themes..
    These are not huge things but those minor things made user experience very good. 😊

      Totally agree. Regarding installing MS Office, do you mean through Wine or is there any other way?

    • @arpitamanvijay
      @arpitamanvijay 11 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah.. it's wine.. luckily wine works for me most of the time😂but honestly at this point I feel like it is unnecessary to install ms office suite.. the compatibility of Libre office and Only office is impressive these days. Even the libre office is better in exporting pdf compare to ms office 😂 it always messes up things in pdf even on windows machine but libre is very accurate.

    Other distros might have all the bells & whistles, or might be entirely customizable, but Mint has been the only distro that works out-of-the-box altogether for me. All other distros I had to tinker with them to work, as much fun as the tinkering can be, it's what it is.

    Mint is great!
    What it lacks:
    - Configuring 2 mice individually (Possible to do in MX Linux).
    - Adjusting scroll wheel speed (No distro has this 'feature' in it's settings!, IMO it's a fundamental thing to have)
    - The 'show desktop' button should stay on the left.
    - A minor issue is that telegram has to be repinned to the taskbar, and the old launcher has to be removed after each update. Not sure if this happens with other programs as well. Definitely an issue with telegram.
    - The way MX linux is built is very good, maybe Mint can adopt a few things from them.

    I've been installing it by default on all my "retired" systems for a decade. Each time I come back to it I stay for longer. I've put it on 75% of every system I've resold as well. Been running it as my daily this go-around for a month. It's truly mature now.

    I've being using DOS/WIN since home and office PC war started in earlies '80 and considering moving to Linux because of Linux Mint distro (I've tried a few of them). It still have some hardware issues but they come with solutions on each update.

      Yes, Mint's hardware compatibility is amazing, I've never had any problems in that regard.

    Unfortunately, doing a quick reasearch at the CVE database, we can found more vulnerabilities for the kernel linux than for windows.

      And yet Windows is the most exploited OS. Of course, this statement does not mean that it is the most insecure, but since it is so widely used, it is normal for it to be the main target for a large part of the world's malware.

    Although i dont use Mint i think it is a great distro, the best? Is there actually the ultimate best linux distro? I would say one of the better Debian based distro. You cant go wrong with Mint especially for ex Windows users. Howewer it is nice to se that linux nowdays is more and more explained and more public for people to see. It reached mature level of polished GUI and kernel. My personal opinion is that cinnamon needs redesing not big but slight, there are areas in UI that are not up to date with how modern UI should look. By that i dont mean any fancy bluring or things that slows down performance.

    Don't trust that advert. My mint 21.3 w/Cinnamon has its Menu Editor and Panel heavily bugged since...years. Was advised on the forum to upgrade my kernel 5 to 6 and subsequently my i9 9900 became a single core dual thread processor!! Grub only seldom and randomly appears (never with neither shift nor escape) even after editing the /etc/default/grub file and therefore cannot access to the former kernel.Thank you (and bye bye) Mint!

    Love the video, although best is a strong word lol. I've driven a few different Linux mint distros over the years and although I agree it's extremely stable, many distros are just as good if not better. KDE neon comes to mind, it's the lightest and most stable plasma desktop environment I've ever used. Peppermint Linux is also very fast and stable. I agree Ubuntu is overrated, honestly arch or opensuse rival it 😂

    • @DavidSerranoIO
      @DavidSerranoIO  11 месяцев назад +2

      I agree, when I said "the best" I was referring to my 100% subjective opinion! 😅 Of course I'm sure there are many more distributions just as stable and powerful, thanks to the rich ecosystem of distributions in which we are.

      I think I remember trying it a few years ago, and I didn't notice much of a difference. Although I think that this will depend on the hardware of each one, and I suppose that in this time it has improved. I have to try it again.
