MaCenna I agree with Romeo that your door arches do not need that wall scone. The arches are classy without them. Less is more. You guys did a great job on those beams and arches. Make sure that you are getting some much need rest between your projects. I would like to see you take your dog with you to one of your flea market. I agree about the scone. I feel like if the openings were much taller, they could work. But for these, they seem "off." I like them how they are!

Taking your hair out of a ponytail after a long day is right up there with taking your shoes or bra off. 😂😂😂
As someone who flies between the UK and USA regularly I do have one tip for bringing extra stuff with you either way in order to avoid the awful worldwide shipping rates.
I put a medium suitcase inside a large suitcase. I pack all my things to fit inside the medium suitcase and - if I need the larger suitcase I already have it with me and don't need to buy an extra suitcase. I just pay the airline $100 for the extra suitcase instead of (for example) UPS shipping fees.

Tip for France…..I worked for a furniture consignment store and we used Orbit shipping. Customers called and Orbit would come, pick up, crate and ship purchases. I do believe they are international. Not cheap, but sentimental memories attached to traveling with Romeo and your mom are priceless!

I watched today with a huge smile. You are infectious! Love your vlogs and can’t wait to watch “all the things” come to fruition. On a side note, 6 of us vacationed in Bali. The result of that trip was a 40 foot container filled to the brim with furniture, pottery and more docking into Los Angeles six months later. Zero regrets.
OMGGGGGGG i have to do this and send back my treasures! was it hard to find a container company you could rely on?

I've been a follower for a couple years now. Watching your videos has helped me to define my "style". Which is literally no set style at all. I'm 54 and spent years trying to make my house look normal because I'm an autistic/adhd woman who's always masked. But this year I've given myself permission to decorate only with things that make me happy, regardless of what people think. Which means it's an ecclectic mix of boho, antique, vintage.... I just want to look around and see things that just make me happy. And if I can't buy it, I can make it. Weirdly enough, family and friends are telling me that my home is starting to reflect who I am. When they walk in my house smells of herbs and incense. I'm slowly moving things out that don't make me happy and replacing them with things that do. I love your channels. The ideas I get from watching your videos inspire me every time.
Also ADHD and I started burning myself out trying to keep “on trend” (with clothes too - when is fashion actually comfortable?!). Now I’m just going with “I love this” and it’s actually working out so well! I even bought myself tiny little Disney figurines at Disneyland Paris which I would never have done because what adult has those on display? Guess what - I do! 😂

Probably 25 years ago, my mom brought me some seeds from Wildseed Farm in Fredericksburg. They became a self-seeding meadow that lasted until we sold the house. I recommend that you check them out when you are deciding what to do with landscape at the cottage. They are outstanding!
If those are plants native to that area -- that's a great idea! Last summer we had a landscape cooperative that specializes in native plants (we're Mid-Atlantic) pull out all the invasive plants in our backyard (truly awful vines that felt like they would swallow us up) and put in native plants and this year they've required nothing from us this year. We have different blooms in different colors every couple of weeks. Better for us and the environment!
@@TamarLitvot Wildseed Farm is just down the road from the cottage in Texas and specializes is native seeds. They are the perfect source for a natural, native landscape that will be minimal maintenance in her area. They also make blends for different regions of the country. Top quality seeds and info I can highly recommend.

Macenna you NEED to visit Chateau Versailles when you’re in France. It’s something out of this world, even more stunning than the Louvre museum. You need to see all the 500 years old marble and windows and the queen’s room! You cannot miss that place

Honestly it's so crowded and over the top, I feel like Chantilly is equally impressive and beautiful without the hassle and the gazillion tourist groups.

@@marich91 I went in March and it was definitely crowded, but after following Macenna for years and knowing her style, I feel she would love visiting Versaille, especially as she was amazed by the Louvre. Seeing design choices of Kings and materials that have lasted over 800 years. She would love all the paintings, ornate details, marble, chandeliers, windows and wood, and the room of mirrors(forgot if that’s what it’s called). Because one might not visit France all that often, I would say Versaille is worth a visit
@@daniellalichaa812 I'm not not saying it she wouldn't like it at all, but Chantilly has the same grand charm and the same style, maybe with the extra little rustic vibe that she'd probably like too ☺ Also it's the home of whipped cream aka Crème Chantilly, lol! Anyway she's free to do as she pleases hehe.
But definitely, Versailles is a major tourist attraction and crowd isn't to be underestimated ☺

I took my daughter to Paris for her graduation. We took a train down to Annecy France. The most gorgeous place I’ve ever seen in my life. Highly recommend.

I’ve been watching for years. Big fan. You’ve helped me develop my own style. So many times I would see lovely rooms and try to emulate them only to realize that although I loved the rooms I saw, they weren’t what I wanted in my own home to live with daily. I am bed ridden and at home for almost 3 years from surgeries and watch all the different shows on all channels and more . I have nothing else to do. But when you come on I never want it to end. I love your show . And trust me no one has ever said a negative thing about you. Once in a while someone might say, " I saw MaCenna do or I want to try what MaCenna did , things like that. I too love Macenna videos, she has such a unique way of pulling in her community into her life and projects, despite being disabled I feel totally part of it. When I think of your two homes, your style reminds me of "Traditional Home" magazine and the wide variety of traditional aesthetics the magazine covers-- "curated"--old mixed with new, etc. I had subscribed to that magazine for years. Your style would be a great feature in that magazine. LOVE all of your content!
I have an interior design major, and design styles really help to set a word for the clients style. I would say that your style is vintage eclectic. Eclectic designs basically means that your home has be curated over time with items that tell a story. The items don’t always have to, but they often do. It is kinda like a mix of different thing people find during their life. I would call my style a Gustavian/s Scandinavian eclectic style.
Just a tip…Turf gets very hot. If you can put it in an area with shade, Kinsley will be able to enjoy it more. 😘

Hi MaCenna, first: I LOVE your videos! For your trip to France: Paris of course has lots of flea markets and very curated but also very expensive. If you you want to find good deals you should go to the countryside, for either flea markets or Emmaüs (probably like Goodwill in the US, pronounced Emma-eus with a French u). Hope that helps. Please look into native plant and habitat restoration for your area of Texas. It can become beautiful and low maintenance when properly installed. Looks like you have room for a meadow with shade trees.

Hubs fell off a ladder 2 weeks ago and broke his heel bone. He is 68.
If he doesn't need surgery, he is on a non-weight bearing for 6-12 weeks.
So our remodel and summer projects are on hold, and the new decorating style around here are wheelchairs and knee scooters!
Oh no! Hope all is well soon. It’s not easy to come to a pause because of an accident and older bodies don’t heal as fast as when they were younger. Reminds me of when hubby fell off the ladder in the middle of our reno and broke his leg. Despite being in the medical field professionally, he denied it was broken (he knew it was)! Then they had to cut his trousers off at emergency and we had to wrap an old towel from the car around him for privacy because trousers and shorts wouldn’t fit over the cast. He prefers helping people and was NOT a good patient! Memories memories! ❤️from Australia 🇦🇺.

Mine is total eclectic! Years & years of collecting pieces. Changing things up from time to time. But favorite antiques always in the mix here & there. I diffently like the mix of old & new.

Many years ago ( I am sixty ) my family lived in Italy when I was a child and we returned to New York by boat with numerous things including six chairs , a bronze chandelier , two really big bronze candle sticks , all of which made their way back across the ocean as I inherited them and I now live in England . It is definitely doable , not sure about current costs but, possible for sure . Can’t wait to see your French vlogs !
I went antiquing for the first time today because of you! Bought an old oil glass lamp, a pre second war (because the middle is made of metal instead of glass)wood board to wash clothes by hands and a manual beef ground machine… my hubby and I enjoy it a lot. So much to look at and so many surprises and memories…
About the shipping from Europe…I think Jami Rae Vintage takes empty suitcases in her own suitcases in order to stuff full and check them to bring back…I believe she’s posted about this hat plus shipping things back on her channel.
Maybe a satisfying quick fix for the cabinets would be to replace the dated hinges and handles/drawer pulls.
