Most tv shows have A storylines and B storylines. Curb has ABCD&E storylines that come together in the most hilarious ways, plus improv from tons of funny actors on top. It’s basically just a bunch of exorbitantly wealthy old Jewish people being petty but it’s absolutely hilarious
He is definitely not a bumbling idiot, he just speaks his mind and gets into awkward (and hilarious) situations. And it's one of the best comedy series ever made. You should do more.

Larry isn't a bumbling idiot he's a genius who sees the wrongs in the world tries to right them for the little man sometimes it can be hard ro watch because he makes things so uncomfortable to watch because he's the kind of character that will say exactly how he feels no matter the repercussions but it's the best show ever it really starts to get good after he divorces his wife and gets rid of the "Black's" when it's just him as a bachelor him living with Leon that's when the show is really at its best in my opinion.
I hated curb at first but man did it grow on me. I think part of it is the older i get the more and more i relate to Larry David...
PLEASE!!! Go on a binge with curb your enthusiasm. LOTS of untapped material out there.

The very early seasons are among the best sitcom episodes out there, just unbelievable world building. The interior decorator episode is a hilarious one

It's a great show. A lot of it is ad-libbed after Larry writes the structure for the episode. Each season has a story arc.

My first sitcom was in 1961 and along with VEEP, this is the best USA comedy that I have seen from London.
Larry is just someone who speaks his mind regardless. The character George Constanza on Seinfeld is modeled after Larry David.

You know that quote from The Big Lebowski? "You're right, but you're an asshole." That's Larry.
if you watch enough CYE you will see that the brains behind Seinfeld is Larry David, you can really see the writing in both come from this man. What makes Curb so great is that it's not in your face comedy where there is a punchline or something. The comedy is in the interaction with the characters and some how some way Larry always finds himself in these situations that only he could get in. Once you figure that out you figure out the genius of this show and that's when the real laughs show up.
This is a show you gotta sit down n watch from the beginning to funky get Larry's brilliance

After Seinfeld, there were two branches of imitation:
• Always Sunny in Philadelphia carried on the plot structure and ensemble nature of Seinfeld, but dialed the stakes of everything to 11.
• Curb Your Enthusiasm carried on the Seinfeld tone. Seinfeld was always far more based on Larry David, the show’s co-creator, than Jerry. When Jerry gets passive-aggressive about something or George goes on a rant, they were channeling Larry. So, it’s great to get the genuine article from his show.

I was in the same boat for not enjoying the show when i was younger, but i caught a few episode one day a few years back and it instantly became one of my favorite shows and i binged every episode. I also finally decided to watch watch all of Seinfeld earlier this year and whilst not as good as this show, it is full of the same type of awkward situation type stuff and actually quite funny
Curb Your Enthusiasm is like Parks and Rec or The Office for me, I love watching clips but I end up tuning out when I watch episodes.
The episode that got me hooked was "Crazy Eyez-Killer" from season 3. Another great episode is The Nanny From Hell.
Over the years I have had to shut off at least 10 episodes cuz it made me so uncomfortable I couldn't watch it but that being said I love the show and it is hilarious.

I was really into Curb back in the 2000s, and have seen the first few seasons so many times my wife and I reference those earlier episodes for situations we encounter. We haven't caught up with the newer seasons, though. Curb is very much like Seinfeld (a prequel of sorts), very New York humor (though it's set in L.A.), focusing on the Jewish comedic tradition of the schlemiel (bumbling fool). It's deeply cultural, and a lot of viewers outside the US don't get it at first, though Americans understand it almost implicitly.
I'm actually surprised you guys didn't already watch this! If you like Bill Burr's rants, Larry does that shit all the time, you'll love it.

there are odd moments in the shows where if you turned to it on and off it wont make sense but he ties the jokes together really well of him going to town on people over things most people would just let go

thing with curb is u gotta just stick with it, its amazing and gets somehow better cus its not a story but just funny commentary on the social BS, just watch one of the last few seasons and if u like it go back...that's what I did and I loved it.

I've watched this show quite a few times, it's like another version of seinfeld (which is the greatest sitcom ever without a doubt), he's brought me so many laughs, the show is amazing and it brings it every single season, he's the anti-hero of political correctness

Season 1 - a bit rough
Season 2 - still rough, but finding its footing
Seasons 3-4 - phenomenal
Seasons 5-6 - inconsistent, but have great season-long premises
Season 7 - really good - IF you watched Seinfeld. Less so if you didn't
Seasons 8-Present - Consistently pretty good, but not amazing.
Ahh, season 4, The Carpool Lane...the apex in my book. Also, you may be underselling season 2 a bit. C'mon...The Doll? lol
@@benshafer5198 I absolutely love season 2. I just think 3 and 4 are nearly perfect, complete seasons. The Carpool Lane is a favorite. Not sure what my apex episode is, but I am very fond of the Krazee Eyez Killa Season 3 episode. I think that may just be the first episode of season 3 that made me think it was on a new level from season 2.

Part of the awkwardness with this show stems from the fact that there is no script. Larry just tells everyone basically what is supposed to happen, and where everyone should end up, and they shoot the scene. It's almost all completely improved, so it can feel pretty weird since everyone is just reacting to lines they haven't heard before.
