Glad that got your attention! If you check out some of my recent vids you can see it in action. Great reel for the surf and perfect for calicos (in my opinion)
GarythePuma Absolutely, this reel would handle great for that..I’ve landed a 30+lb Black Sea bass on it and it handled perfectly. Another good option would be the shimano tranx 301..but at the price the coastal can’t be beat
I use this reel offshore for bass, the casting is insanely smooth no nests yet, cranks so smooth very balanced when cranking. Recently caught a smallish barracuda on it lol.
Yeah daiwa made a nice reliable inshore reel! Take good care of it though because its noncorrosive properties could use some work..that being said I love it!
@@allthingsfishing365 Thanks for the heads up! I will be around the Ventura coast LA coast shore fishing. I have only used squid and sandworms to catch fish but never lures. Looks like a blast. Let me know if you want to join us. @chasebakershoots IG
Richard Brown I personally have not fished with a Revo but can imagine there very similar in performance and size..smooth casting/retrieve. Great choice to cover salt and fresh forsure
Richard Brown Thanks for the comment, the Daiwa coastal would definitely be good for the surf..in my opinion it’s a tad big to use for freshwater tactics. However I also own a concept Z by 13 fishing..perfect size for fresh and lite inshore applications, not to mention its extreme corrosion resistance and bearing technology..super smooth casting and plenty of drag
You ever seen or held a shimano Grappler? Been debating between that or the Daiwa costal. The 13 fishing z3 is so lite and would be a contender but the price is a bit high. 15 pounds should be good enough for small yellows. My avet sxj only puts out 14lb drag, I set it at 9 and have caught decent yellows and Halibut on it.
I have not held the grappler..so I can say much on a comparison..the z3 would be a great reel I have the original z but the pure size of the reel doesn’t match up well with the long rods used for throwing in the surf..the coastal is the next size up, a little wider than the z and that means more line capacity. And yes your right 15 is fine for smaller yellows and you’ll get them in with some play. However the thing to remember with the coastal and avets is the line capacity..I’ve got an sx with the same 14lb max drag but I can fit a several 100 yards of braid on that to absorb that lower max drag. I’d recommend the coastal to anyone..and you can get it for a good deal on eBay over say tackle ware house. Hope this help man and appreciate the comment!
Nova Day I feel comfortable recommending this reel, great for inshore fishing..especially calicos/spotties durable and handles the salt pretty well. TranX is a kick ass reel, looking to get one myself
Nice review on the reel. Due to living on the Texas coast, I am always looking for equipment that can handle the elements. I found your channel via Michael Fuller's channel who did a shout out for you. I subscribed and rang that bell. Hopefully, you can return the favor. It is mainly a road trip channel with an outdoorsy theme with fishing, camping, hiking DIY projects and some comedy. I will catch up with your other videos as time permits. Take care and thanks for sharing.
The Texas Road Runner Glad you found the review helpful! As I continue to use the reel I find more and more good things about it. I’ll give you a follow back! Tight lines!
Your review just sky rocketed in influence when you talked about calico's and some surf fishing. Exactly what I'm looking to use it for.

@@allthingsfishing365 could I use this for some larger schoolies (stripers) about 20 lbs? I want a larger low profile reel for seabass and stuff

That thing looks like it catches big fish... Solid review!
Thanks man!
Very nice review I will be buying one soon.
Chase Baker Thanks! It’s a great reel I love using it..look to eBay for the deals they have it much cheaper than say tackle warehouse does

Chase Baker Lures are a blast off the coast! And thanks man appreciate the invite👍🏻
Does this reel cast like a revo ? I really like this reel and want a do all salt and fresh water reel.
Richard Brown I personally have not fished with a Revo but can imagine there very similar in performance and size..smooth casting/retrieve. Great choice to cover salt and fresh forsure
Live on the coast in myrtle beach , trying to find a fresh / onshore combo for a do all reel .

I go back and forth over spinning vs casting. This week spinning is winning and I recommend the back bay. Smooth as butter.
Ford Blue. Good for Bonito?
They’ll take long runs on the reel but you can get them in with it no problem
Hai sir iwant this reel how to buy this reel in India

I just wanted to see how big this thing was for my hand. The info was a bonus. Awesome job brother.
Sammuel Jackson Thanks a lot man, appreciate the comment!
How does it handle distance on 1/2 ounce weights?
Nova Day Yes it does! I’ll throw as low as 3/8oz and it still sends it just as far as a 1oz
@@allthingsfishing365 thanks! Thinking about purchasing this for San Diego while I wait on some new TranX parts, looks reliable
