Man you’ve achieved the pinnacle of golden era Hondas. Cr-x’s are sick but nothing can touch an itr. I am in awe!
Yea I've always desired one. But could never afford it. Now 20 years later I got it. But do to a drunk driver hitting me at 60 mph. N leaving me for dead injuring his friends in the car that they were in a 4 door white Honda of some kind left me with broke ribs broke femur broke tibia and I flew out of the car window left a pretty scar on my forehead n rods n my leg. Sorry was not tryna to explain or bore anyone. But yea dd r the worst..
Do you really think so? I have a itrx I know people love the s2000 also n say it's better I disagree but idk
One of my favorite cars from the 90’s. It was a timeless design and it still looks so cool 25 years after it’s debut.

Awesome buy 👍 One piece of advice is after polishing coat the headlights with some kind of ceramic coating or they will turn back yellow pretty quickly. Cerakote headlight restoration kit does an awesome job and also very durable too. Cost about 20 bucks.
Thanks for the tip. I actually did spray on some ceramic coating. I plan to do an even deeper polish on them anyway, so it'll get coated again for sure.
What was the process for cleaning up the headlights? Or could you direct me to one of your other videos that shows the process?
@@scottm9966 Sand with 3000 grit wet, buff with medium compound, polish with ultrafine machine polish. Coat with ceramic coating.

Very nice. The beginning is the most fun. And you never know, you may sell it eventually. The R32 GTR was my JDM halo "dream car" etc, but now that I've had one for 7 years and it's a really nice example, I feeling it's time to sell. So many other cars I want to try and I can't afford to do that without selling the car. Was a great investment though!
The interior is just perfect, thanks for sharing and congratulations on your gorgeous car. The engine compartment is also top notch. It looks 100% stock and it does not appear to have been cleaned, ever. It has a wonderful patina and you may consider not doing much or anything to it.

That's an amazing find. I think by getting something like this that's seen some driving and possibly some track time, that will also be less stressful than getting a pristine auction queen.

So good man! Looks like a solid base and it already looks heaps better. If you can find part numbers, I can check with Honda here for any misc items you need like the badges, center caps, shift boot, etc. There's a surprising amount of stuff still available. EK9 CTR center caps are still available new for ~$37 each at todays exchange rate...DC2 ITR sure look the exact same? Excited to see where this goes and holler if you need anything!
Thanks! I’d actually be interested in some center caps like you mentioned. I never even thought about buying them new. I was going to repaint them, but the “H” never would have been perfect. It looks like the EK9 will fit based on some cross searches. The part number is 44732-SL0-J70

Bit late to the party. 😁 Nice buy. 👍While the 98 specs got a few little improvements, the 96 Spec is genesis, the first of the breed. The OG as it were.
One of the first things I'd do is check the metal where the sill meets the rear arches. Yours looks good from what I can see. I've found down the years the pre 98 ones(and non R JDM Tegs) seem to be more resistant to rust. The worst being non JDM versions with rear inner wheelarch liners. In a lot of these cars the rear sill/wheelarch seam is badly sealed, or completely open so water flies in. In any sort of damp climate that's nearly always where the rot starts and by the time it shows on the outside paint you're usually looking at painful expense. Then fill the sills, inner rear wings and seams, bottom of the doors, hatch, leading edge of bonnet, sorry hood😀floor of boot/trunk with the best anti rust wax you can get. The rear light cluster tends to leak like a sieve so water gets in there oo.

Just one _tiny_ thing I noticed you used a power tool on the rear spolier nuts. Be really careful there. I'd only use hand tools as they're famous for snapping off the bolts. The pad under the base holds moisture and can weaken the studs. The valve cover bolts can be "delicate" too. Don't ask me how I know. 😊🙂
Your new valve cover looks brilliant. The red crackle finish on those is crazy delicate and very prone to flaking. 😥

Under the hood needs some work I can tell. Do an episode under it where you look at all the bushings and suspension before you give maxpeeding a call.

The rear Type R decal is incorrect also, it’s supposed to say “Integra Type R” like the sides and strut brace. Just remove them all for now and it’ll look better than having those ones on it! Best of luck with the resto. Welcome to the DC2R club!

Man! That two-door ITR is fantastic, and congratulations on the purchase! I have a rare four-door I'm shipping out in a month. Are your plans to restore it to OEM? If so, there are a few flaws but still clean.
Mainly just clean it up. It’s pretty much all OEM.
@@crxseth You mentioned the ITR sticker, and just an FYI, the corners in Japan on the ITR were clear and not amber.
@@CesarsCarCorner I looked it up. All JDM had amber corners. The European and Australian market had clear turn signals. ISDM had amber and red, depending on the year.

Awesome to see. Looks like the rear bumper is a 98-01 style too. The not sure about JDM but the 94-97 one doesn't have the slot in the back. (i kind of like 94-97 better)
I’ll have to do some research to see if this is the original bumper. This is a 1997 in Japan model year so I’m unsure.

What are you doing for a tune up? I just got a ITR as well and need to do a full tune up
So far, oil change, spark plugs. I will eventually change transmission oil, brakes, tires, brake and clutch fluids.

For the most part, they are identical to the USDM ITRs. Just minor quirks.
