Sometimes we'll do a compilation list, sometimes it'll be an all new episode, sometimes it'll be sort of an add-on to the Tuesday episode (think we'll call those "After Parties", maybe it'll be a Livestream. @@JonManProductions Yeah. This right here.
Post on Fridays so people can make drinks that same day!
Before I realized it was a clip show, I saw that it was 40 minutes long and full of the worst drinks imaginable. I immediately worried for your safety
at first i thought the episode was going to be Greg making these drinks again, but then I realized that no sane man would ever make any of these drinks ever again.
I'm so glad that he didn't waste the alcohol on making the eldermancy again
@@frogv2745 yeah. That was like a $90 glass of death.
Yes... but after a thousand years of making this show, I'm not sure Greg qualifies as "sane" any longer.
@@robertdean7778 I could make it far worse. Let’s say Dijon mustard for the D over dry vermouth and N for nougat
No sane person would ever order this crap
The best part is that in theory the Malibu Pineapple Old Fashioned should have basically rum, coconut, pineapple and orange. It should approximate a painkiller, and yet it is just pain
I do wonder if it'd been any more pallateble if it had been actual malibu pineapple that was used
I think some of it may have been the bitters and the garbage pineapple rum
@@nienke7713 tried it
It's the closest I've had to a glass of hatred in my life
@@nickgrout2502 I agree. My theory is that the bitters might break down the artificial pineapple flavour, which is an esther of butyric acid and some other acid, causing the putrid aroma. Pineapple flavour is infamous among chemists to break down really unpleasantly and I think it might help the drink, if you just left out the bitters and maybe used orange juice instead of orange zest
@@hopejohnson6347better to just leave out (aka never buy) the pineapple rum
For the tapeworm shot, Eugene lee yang from the try guys said it best.
"These were made by that one friend in college who never graduated."
I'm a little sad that the Smoker's Cough didn't make the cut. Greg screamed, made duck sounds and regretted every decision in his life that brought to that point.
which episode was that from?
@@Vile "Cursed Cocktails" twelve minutes and 49 seconds in
@@jachamr cheers!
Just shows the horrors he would go on to face
It’s the drink that is just a shot of Jägermeister with dollops of mayonnaise in it right?
Doesn’t sound very nice as a concept, but that name… Smokers cough. that name doesn’t do it any favours.
Takes something that seems unappetising and just makes it repulsive.
I don't think I've ever seen Greg just intentionally yeet a glass off the table like that
I know😂😂😂
There's no saving that glass. It had to be put out of it's misery
I was really hoping I'd never have to look at the infected whitehead ever again
That thing is so upsetting to look at, it gives me the shivers
I had to skip that section. It made me incredibly uncomfortable. Visual appeal it has not.
So upsetting, he broke a glass over it!
Yeah, my imagination is too vivid for that.
Hate in a glass
Bad taste in a drink is one thing, but if my drink has chunks that need to be chewed, then Houston, we have a problem.
I have a very vivid memory of my body rejecting a piece of shrapnel, and when the doc cut open the abscess surrounding it, something very similar to the "infected whitehead" was pulled out.
So uh. I guess they nailed that one
I unfortunately sat down with a small bowl of cottage cheese, scrolled through RUclips and was delighted to find a brand new HTD episode! Now I regret my cottage cheese decision.
There is nothing wrong with cottage cheese - in its proper context. A drink is not the context.
@@endymallorn everything is wrong with cottage cheese
I want a shirt that just says “ I regret my cottage cheese decision”
I regret your decision too, cottage cheese is never a win. Cottage cheese sucks.
Dude I don't know what the hate is around cottage cheese but I used to have it all the time as a kid. Haven't had it in years. Cottage cheese is great
This episode has taught me that we *NEED* more "The Customer is Always Wrong" drinks
I find the Midori Margarita and the Malibu Pineapple Old fashioned the most impressive. Most of these drinks you would expect to be terrible, but those are things people could just stumble on to and create nightmare juice out of.
We need more customers being wrong.
I feel like with the Mailbu Pineapple Old Fashioned somebody's wires got crossed between an Old Fashioned and a Whiskey Sour. I just desperately want to give that poor soul the benefit of the doubt.
If I was a bartender I would interpret an order of Midori margarita to replace all of the tequila with Midori. I don't get why Greg used tequila in that drink at all. Just like if someone orders a vodka tonic you don't make a gin & tonic and add vodka, you replace the gin with vodka, just like you would replace the tequila with Midori. I am not saying that would make for a better drink though, but I honestly think I would rather drink Midori+Cointreau+lime than whatever Greg made.
@@Ozrichead If you want the tequila replaced it really isn't a margarita anymore. I can see why swapping the modifier would be the first thing he chose. I could also see just making a margarita and adding some midori as another option, and that might be the one with the best result imo, but I haven't tried any of them and it seemed like it just isn't a pairing that works well.
"The drink of The Beast" What more needs to be said?
@@Ozrichead Midori, Cointreau, and Lime, topped with sparkling water is actually delicious
i remember these! eldermancy sounds like what a witch’s brew would actually taste like, with absinthe mixed in
Sam Riegel is the fucking devil...and he should be made to answer for his crimes.
The absinthe provides no magical benefit and is there solely to hide the taste of the rest of the shit in it
@@negative6442 between stuff like the yogurt and the beer mixed with everything else, yeah lol
At my job we have a bar and under the bar is a bottle called all sorts which is an ever changing blend of everything in the bar at any given time. It’s job is to be horrible and making something horrible is often much harder than making something good. The Malibu pineapple old fashioned is definitely going in there now.
Thanks for the death juice Greg!
When I worked at a rock club, we offered a Serial Killer (top shelf or bottom shelf). The bartender would look at a dollar, and throw in a splash from each bottle out of ten according to the bill's serial number. They were always *so* *bad* that it became sort of a badge of honor to order one and drink it without making a face.
We had the Barman's Bastard which was a shot of every coloured spirit in a pint glass topped off with soda or the Tombstone which was the same but with the clear spirits. Just don't.
@@MrGrimsmith When I was a hard drinker, I used to start a night off with a 3 Southern Gentlemen: 1 shot each of Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, José Cuervo, and Southern Comfort. If it was a really bad night, I'd have a double.
Extra points for the fact that the Malibu Pineapple Old Fashioned Sea of Blood is made with Parrot Bay
this sounds amazing lowkey
The pineapple malibu od fashioned description is probably one of the best you've ever done through the entire channel. I'm part of the ones who didn't really enjoy the "suffering saga", but customer's always wrong were a couple of great episodes
I totally agree with this. 'Suffering saga' wasn't may jam, but the customer is always wrong was a highlight. Also the canned cocktails and canned margaritas episodes I find myself going back to. Probably because it incorporates a product review with the suffering, so it didn't feel like suffering for the sake of it. Also, we got to see smashed Greg in the canned margs episode.
Greg: "words can not describe the wretchedness of this glass"
Also Greg: *takes another sip*
7:31
I dunno, I feel like he did a pretty good job of describing the taste of eldritch madness.
He is a man of science. He must confirm his findings 😂
That first drink is now a core memory.
We can never unsee it. Ever.
Hey Greg! Have you ever considered doing the drinks from a game called Deep Rock Galactic? There are loads of options to choose from, they're all technically beers in game but I feel like you could turn many of them into cocktails pretty easily! Keep up the awesome content btw!
I endorse this wholeheartedly.
Rock and Stone!
Red rock blaster looks like a great drink to make, spicy beer. Very spicy beer.
Rock and stone!
Rock and Stone!
FOR CARL!
I... I kinda wanna try the Malibu Pineapple Old-Fashioned Horror, simply because of how horrifying your description of it is.
I mean, a drink that invokes Lovecraftian feelings is a drink that should be tried, at least once.
Duality of man..willing to go to the edges of insanity for a good buzz
11 months later, did u try it and die or something?
@@Raelarialiv tried it, Greg is right BUT there's a way to fix it.
Make it with plantation Mrs stiggins fancy pineapple rum. Use cocoa or chocolate bitters and its SPECTACULAR.
I'm surprised the beef fizz didn't make it to the list
I'm sorry, did you just use the words beef, and fizz, together, on purpose?!?! Beef, FIZZ?!?!?!!
@Florinda Lucero Oh yes, he did. Look up "beef fizz" here on the good ol' RUclips. You'll find Greg's crack at it along with many other's attempts. It's a, uh, certainly a something.
I have a combination liver and stomach problem that prevents me from drinking, but something about hearing a person who really knows their craft talk about it is very satisfying
I applaud what your saying, however take his vid with a grain of salt as it were.... Everyone's tastes are different and there are a good few of us that would disagree with some of his particular takes upon, "taste"
@@BrokeMoFo sure, doesn’t change anything for me though, I’ll never taste the stuff anyway
He recently did the dry January one?
@@MuriKakari haven’t seen it yet
I feel the same way! I can't drink because of medication I take, but the content is entertaining enough that I still watch it.
When we were teenagers my brother and I would mix a little bit of all the liquors in the parent’s bar in a bottle so they don’t notice the botlles going down. It was disgusting.
I did that too! But my sister knew better than to subject herself to it. Only me and one other guy in our group could stomach that one lol... Turned out most of my dad's bottles were older than me. 😅
In Swedish it’s called a ‘häxa’ which means witch, referring to it in a witch brew sense.
Because who knows what’s in it, and the taste like it was made of a animal tail, poisonous mushrooms, rotten fruit, and who knows what.
Mostly just drank by teenagers doing the same thing as you did
I legitimately thought this was going to be the episode where you made the cocktails suggested by the community. :D
Thank god that it wasn't,
Would've been horrified if my recipe was something he hated.
I'd love to see Greg try a couple of my own "cursed cocktail" discoveries, just to see if he had a similar reaction to mine.
No joke, the Old Kaiser had me on my knees begging for my taste buds to die in peace.
Old Kaiser
1 oz. Jagermeister
1 oz. Peppermint schnapps
2 dashes of bitters
.5 oz. lime juice
@@johnp.2267 hmmm
... what bitters we talking here?
Orange?
Peychauds?
Angostura?
@@jegger2143 That, I don't remember. All I do remember is how my tongue gave me the hairy side-eye for hours afterwards.
I'm a relatively recent subscriber and subscribed shortly before The Customer is Always Wrong episode. As he opened, I KNEW that Malibu-ish Pineapple Old Fashioned AND the Midori Margarita was going to be in this episode.
RIP Greg's liver and stomach 💀💀
Irrespective of the Eldermancy drink, I would love to know how to get my hands on some elderberry liqueur/creme de elderberry or whatever, just cuz I love elderberry
edit: just saw there's a recipe in the description. Bless you, Greg.
"That tastes like the inside of a vacuum" is what I will be using from now on
Love the vid greg great to relive some of the memories but it does make me REALLY miss the customer is always wrong vids and would love another one lol. They are the vids i always return to to watch from time to time.
I like those too. Along with the history ones. I miss the history ones a lot
The "Midori Margarita" originates as a recipe from the company that makes it themselves. I have a bottle and it's printed on the back label of the bottle.
Making a nightmare cocktails episode without having to drink anything, clever.
I've only seen a handful of these episodes that these snippets are pulled from, but I was dying laughing the whole time! 😂 Makes me want to go back through and watch the full episodes!
Excited for this worst of list! Hopefully a best of soon?
I love when Greg gets all “end of days” after drinking something terrible
I forgot about the eldermancy, so i got to experience the horror of its creation again, as if for the first time. I could see the elderberry, lemon, and yogurt working as a creamy, fruity drink. Maybe espresso and the ale working together (irdk as i dont drink ale), but l of those things together with so so much alcohol
I'm legitimately surprised that the original Ward 8 wasn't present on the list of the worst drinks you've made. That one went so incredibly wrong!
Would be interesting to see him try out an assortment of different drinks while under the effects of a miracle berry tablet.
This is a really fun potential idea. Trying favorite drinks before and afterwards. Miracle berry does some weirddddd stuff to taste
I believe the correct toast for something called the "Infected Whitehead" is "Praise the Plaguefather!".
I have described my only experience of driving past a pulp mill as "Force-feed moth balls to a skunk until it dies, and then leave it out in the sun for a week". Yuck. The fact that you also referenced H. P. Lovecraft in the same tasting notes is just priceless.
I still remember how everyone was pointing out that Greg completely misunderstood the instructions on the midori margarita
When I was in Japan, the Final Fantasy XIV Eorzea cafe had a "Dark Knight" drink. My reaction was pretty much what yours was to that Malibu Pineapple abomination, although yours sounds more vile for sure.
"This is a Color Out of Space" appreciate the Lovecraft reference. Now we need a Lovecraft Cocktail.
Potential game idea! Have people describe a drink (but they can't use any ingredient names), but the catch is that the drink is one of the people's favorite drink, and the other person hates it! And based only off of their descriptions, you have to try to make the drink they're talking about. Could be a fun collab with a few other creators too!
Genius! If I was still in college, this would be a fantastic drinking game!
I almost forgot about the balsamic soda! 😆 I DO make balsamic sodas like that as a diet-friendly soda, but (a) use ANYTHING other than La Crotch, and (b) don't use anywhere near that much vinegar. With just a dash of some of the fruit-flavored finishing vinegars, it's actually quite nice!
I regularly make flavored water out of apple cider vinegar and / or green onions, but skip the carbonation. Carbonated water to me always tastes disgusting regardless of the brand. Likewise, hard seltzer.
Have you ever made your own shrub? That stuff is so delicious I could drink it straight.
My takeaway from this is to avoid spirit-forward cocktails made with inferior spirits, anything with large amounts of Tabasco sauce, and anything with ingredients picked to fit an acronym (especially if the acronym is longer than 5 letters.)
I came up with a pretty rough recipe a few weeks ago that might be a competitor here: 2 oz Erguotou, 6 oz Mountain Dew Spark, 2 dashes lavender bitters.
He's like dumbledore drinking that cursed water in half blood prince
The pineapple rum old fashion has by far the best reaction and I'm still trying to think of a better (or in this case worse) cocktail to make that could beat it
Yeah, if I were to make a Midori margarita, I'd interpret it the same way where you're swapping Midori in for the triple sec...
However, if you swapped the Midori in for the tequila and kept the triple sec, it's basically a Japanese Slipper which is a perfectly serviceable (not great, but serviceable) cocktail...
So very curious to know if your stomach has ever rejected whatever garbage you've sadly had to drink and just immediately barfed.
He almost made himself sick when he made Smoker's Cough.
the clips transition really well between eachother well done
the tapeworm had me in tears. you sir, are a masochist. you have gone well beyond the realm of commitment. you are right, i could see the steam!
i think you should try making "The Bloody Awful" from Top Gear. I'd like to see someone attempt to give tasting notes for something like that.
I don't know how you would approach this, but I would love to see your interpretation of drinks based on Lord of the Rings. Either drinks actually featured or new drinks based off the characters :)
He did make Ent Draught
Hey Greg, my friends and I are from Mississippi and we love your show. There is a local distillery called Cathead that makes a honeysuckle vodka that you might like. They're a pretty big company here but it's hard to find their stuff online. My friend who ate a lot of acid back in the hippie days invented a new cocktail, inspired by your show - a watermelon vodka martini made with pickle juice. They call it Mississippi Piss, and I've tried one. It is unique among flavors.
They shoulda called it Pississippi!
Side note: LOVE the off-camera voice/commentary! Can we get more of that??
"and I'm the drunker or it" is such a great summary for all these lol
"I think that's gone straight through the hippocampus and into the long-term memory" is now something I will use daily.
The Healthy Coke recipe is interesting, because as you also mention, it is almost posca, which might be the first soda-like drink invented and consumed. It is true that that tastes of balsamic vinegar, but made with a good quality vinegar and honey, it can be very refreshing on a hot summer day. Basically, it's lemonade before lemonade itself was able to have been invented (due to necessity of lemons).
This was soooo much more entertaining than I could have possibly imagined.
Kind of want to see someone make a montage of just the reaction parts of this
I love it when the flavor profile text argues with Greg, "Language! Read it again." Good stuff as always!
Greg is yelling about mint surprise and the end video add pops up for Mint Mobile! Lol perfect add placement RUclips, good job.
Pineapple Malort old fashioned anyone? And by that I mean infusing pineapple into Malort.
If these are really worse than the blueberry dirty martini and the Thai chicken negroni (assuming you didn't forget them) then I'm really curious to try them.
If you want to replace an entry on this list (for an update next year maybe?) then try any cocktail made with Salmiakki liqueur. If you can't import Salmiakki Koskenkorva, buy ammonium-salted licorice (possibly called "double-salted licorice") and infuse 50g in 500ml of vodka for 2 weeks.
A Thai chicken negroni??! I don’t know what that involves but the name alone makes me feel thoroughly ill!
took me until the leisure suit showed up to realize this is a GODDAM CLIP SHOW GREG
This is what we live for. Thank you for making my night better.😂
The thing about the healthy coke idea..... I know that I've seen a few more fruity vinegars, especially here in Korea, like a plum vinegar, that you can mix up with seltzer or carbonated water or even just regular flat water, and just drink if you want a sweet tooth. So there is some truth to using vinegar like that, but if you're going to use balsamic vinegar, you really need to use the Good Stuff, because the cheap market balsamic is all tart and no sweetness to me.
Just started the episode. There better be some doc venture concoctions in here lol.
:( Sadly those original files are lost to time
@@howtodrink You just gotta make another episode, then!
@@howtodrink o no!!!! That's too bad. I loved those, mostly because I just loved The Venture Brothers. Cheers!!
Bless you Greg, your pain brings light into our lives
I love that 2 of these are actually honest attempts at a drink (I guess the mojito is sort of a 3rd but unclear if Bacardi intended that to be used regular cocktails). Honest tries/actual orders gone horribly wrong are so much more fun than intentional cursed cocktails.
I'm extremely conflicted between hating clip episodes and loving seeing greg drinking horrible stuff
Greg has an uncanny (and dare I say, supernatural) way of knowing what drinks taste like without having ever tasted the thing he's comparing the drink to.
: I think this is a great idea, specially with the monstrous catalogue of HTD and the fact that most people - I assume - aren't familiar with the several iterations of the show. Throwback Tuesday is already a thing, so the scheduling is also apropos.
The color out of space comment made me laugh good. "It's just a taste, but it buuuuuuurns." HAHA :D
Had someone order a cosmopolitan with creme de menthe, and I genuinely gagged while mixing it. Though... that pineapple old fashioned does look vile. What makes these worse is that they're genuine drinks with just replacements of liquor. They're not something like horse j*zz (milk & beer) or a smoker's cough (Jagermeister & mayonnaise) which are designed to be hateful.
If you start to run out of ideas, or have the time to put it together...it would be pretty cool to see a bloopers reel lol, just a bunch of cut footage over the years edited together into an episode
Not out of ideas, just gonna start running "B-Side" type secondary episodes on thursdays alongside A-Side content on Tuesdays
@@howtodrink I'm sorry Greg, I didn't mean it suggesting you were out of ideas. I enjoy them all, I guess I was suggesting that if you find yourself brainstorming I think this could be pretty entertaining
You should do more episodes of customer orders. I love the windows into the souls of madmen that it gives us.
Btw.. always love the music you overlay for the show... classy and classic
So this is just a supercut of the shitiest drinks?
I'm sorry for your suffering, thank you for the delicious pain
While there is no possible way to save the current Eldermancy, ever thought about making your own interpretation of it? I mean, Sam is no bartender by trade and was certainly doing that ungodly monstrosity as a bit, but there's nothing stopping you from making what an Eldermancy (to a trained eye) could be. For me, since I usually associate "mancy" with Necromancy, I was thinking maybe a corpse reviver with your homemade Elderberry liquor mixed in. Or a hot drink for Pyro"mancy". Or super chill for Cryo"mancy". I feel like your missing out on a chance to have some fun with this.
Cursed cocktail and Customer Always Wrong are the best episodes. Perhaps do the “dude, give you a dollar” challenge to other drinks YT channels like an episode of Hot Ones
OMG i was laughing so hard on your reaction to that tapeworm thing i started choking! i had to pause the vid to get back under control enough to see the rest.
The pineapple incident reminds me of an instant noodle misadventure I once had. Nissin Beef Ramen, Worcestershire sauce, and a slice of American cheese. Not a great idea on paper, but also something that could work. Beef and Worcestershire sauce go together, and believe it or not, American cheese is a pretty common addition to instant noodles.
It went so impressively wrong, worse than I could have imagined. Every miserable note of fermentation and decay in the unspellable sauce came out to party, the cheese refused to melt and incorporate entirely, and there was this hit that was kinda tamarind-y, but real bad. Then it all sorta came together in your mouth, tasting like something that had already been eaten and rejected by a wiser man's stomach. The original flavor was completely lost, corrupted by my own idiocy and desire for something beyond Nissin's perfectly acceptable beef flavor.
Minus the cheese that glopped up at the bottom, I finished the bowl.
Not counting oyster shots, the worst drink I've seen someone make is an *Un*comfortably Numb: One bar spoon of simple syrup. 3 oz of Southern Comfort. 1 oz of tequila. 1 oz of Jagermeister. 1 tablespoon of Nyquil. A splash of bitters. Sprinkle in a packet of aspirin powder. Garnish with a sprig of rubbed mint and a maraschino cherry sharing a toothpick. No ice. Stir with the mint and cherry facing downward. Bonus points for using it to wash down a Benadryl. Now you're ready to give up on this crappy day! Go to bed.
(Gotta love my fam. I suspect my aunt invented this one. She certainly ended a few nights with them.)
I don't know why I watched this but I did and laughed the whole time... Thank you for sharing your pain for our enjoyment
23:43 is Greg's impression of R2D2 being hit with the Jawa blaster in Star Wars: A New Hope. Congratulations, Greg. I thought you had to be a droid to make those sounds.
When I saw this video uploaded all I could think about what you slapping that glass off the bar after the Infected Whitehead and I'm so happy that was the first one hahaha
Went into a whole ancient curse monologue about that pineapple old fashioned 😂
gods, you suffer so beautifully. I could watch this on loop for hours if it didn't also make me nauseous just thinking about the things you describe these drinks tasting like.
Just saw your Blue Milk video and decided to try making it myself and it is SO ACCURATE!!! Can you attempt a Green Milk one next??
I'm only the title drop and already uncomfortable with the things going in those drinks. Well done!
Ah yes. A complilation of the reason we watch this show: Greg's amazing descriptions of terrible, terrible drinks.
I am never going to get tired of seeing the Malibu Pineapple Old Fashioned, A.K.A. the Flavor Out of Space.
Descent into Avernus was the campaign the group I formed was playing before we stopped in 2020....love the reference!
Grape soda and not-that-much-balsamic might do a pretty good impression of a Dr. Pepper.
I was just rewatching cursed cocktails yesterday!
One of my early HTD episodes was Greg discovering that he hated a Ward 8. I was looking forward to seeing that again.
LOVE this throwback
would love to see a video of you trying unusual alcohol from diffrent countries, honestly i just want to see you try Buckfast from the uk.
Ketel One's genever is something students drink as a shot, purely to get drunk, in the Netherlands, I was very surprised to hear it's vodka be called 'fine'
There is so little difference between vodka grades after about the 25$ per bottle mark lol
It's fucking rocket fuel. There is literally no flavor and you can only purify it so much haha, vodka elitists baffle me
I love how one of the chapters is called "anything from the drink machines" which officially makes bashing those poorly made robots a trilogy
