Love your music bro, what is the model of your guitar (the one used here)? ive been meaning to buy an electric guitar and this one looked like it was worth the money but idk the model
Heck yeah awesomesauce, learn some SRV BLUES, with your skill you got this!!!
I thought it was a Pink Floyd cover😅😅😅
The genre itself exists because of emotion.
music itself exists because of that too tbf… It’s too silly and foolish to say the same thing to any form of musical or arts.
@@lryuen_2261 most modern rap…
metal can be very good at expressing pain and anger moreso than any other genre in my experience
I have a definition "Music is emotion expressed trough sound". Quote me on that!
As a starting guitarist who likes to jam metal, that comment he replied to was so full of shit (If we're talking about the same meaning of feel). In metal, you're dealing with heavy gain and heavy distortion. So without palm muting, your notes are going to go on for a WHILE. If you're not giving those notes some inflection (feel/emotion), they'll sound like dog sh!t. You need to chose which notes to kill, whether you're going to kill them hard or soft, and the ones you keep alive will either have to stand on their own (which requires a bit of flavor) or they'll need to hang comfortably over the rest of the notes you play. So if anything, I'd say it takes WAY MORE feel, and WAY MORE emotion, people just have a hard time hearing it because yeah, it's harder, and a lot of if not most popular bands mute tf outta their guitars.
that actually gave me goosebumps and a boner at the same damn time

As a complete shred enthusiast it's hard to deny that when* a metal guitarist is asked to play with feeling they slow the fuck down. There is absolute utter value in taking your time in a guitar solo please people, don't forget.
Quite. Taking 75% of the notes out to get the feels in rather concedes the point. More of this sort of thing!
I think the absolute peak is a solo that mixes both. I think of curse of castle dragon.. the first couple of lines are slow with a bend or two.. then it’s just the beautiful fury of those runs. I guess it’s the contrast that’s beautiful (as long as there’s melody ofc) same with Technical difficulties, tender surrender, electric gypsy
i like psychosocial solo
@@khaiuschill310 the Budokan live solo for Hollow Years basically perfectly fits that
Yeah they slow down because they know a person that is saying that is expecting that they do some slow bends and such. A person that doesn't notice the emotion or feel in shredding as is won't aknowledge it unless they slow down(and people should slow down sometimes). But there is also plenty of emotion and feel in shredding solo's too. It all depends on the guitarist not to just speed through the pentatonic scales, arpeggio's and modes like a robot.
You look like an 80s heavy metal guitarist now. Badass.
More like a 90's guitar player
Yesss
holy hell that last bend hit different
Hearthstone fan?
Tool has bends and sounds like this all day, this guys got the modern touch but also all those sick old school iconic sounds from the greats, this guys dope
Internet person: "Metal guitarists Don't play with enough emotion."
Adam Jones, Richard Henshall, Charles Griffith, Andrew Goddard, and John Petrucci: "Are we a fucking joke to you?"
Not to mention the entire genre of melodic death metal, as well as many power and symphonic bands
Adam Jones is a perfect example of how you don't need to shred to be a great guitar player
No bro Almost all metal guitarists

Dimebag Darell
I play with emotion all the time.
I pick up my guitar and start weeping uncontrollably, then laughing hysterically.
I'm riddled with the entire spectrum.

BEHOLD the feel-inator
"Overreact to your own playing" is what FEELS mean.
“Metal guitarists don’t make the faces!”
Always love how melodic your playing is.
The emotions, the feels.
Aggression is a feel and anger is an emotion
Those are the same people that will slowly and painfully play through the pentatonic box
How many of them do you think actually play to changes to bring out the feel of a song. It cant be many
I think the lesson is here is just cause you didn't feel something personally from a piece of music doesn't mean there was no feeling in the song.
Most people take this stance because the only emotions or feelings they listen to in their songs are love, happiness, money, sex and positivism.
While these topics are valid and have inspired great songs in many genres out there, they're not the only emotions one can feel.
This is where metal and rock shine, they make emotions that people avoid most of the time shine, such as regret, hate, sadness, depression, strife and introspective to name a few.
And these are emotions we have felt at some point in our lives, love your content! Keep it up!
I get this strange feeling that when people say "no feel" they mean "no bends and it's too fast"
@@nicreven Also true, then again that's a very subjective thing, some people like clear vocals and careful melodies, others prefer experimental tunes and others heavier, fast tempos with guttural techniques.
That's the wonderful thing about music, there's something for everyone out there, just have to search it.
I didn't know sex and money were emotions 🤔
@@calebdelfs1491 they're motives i guess 🤷♀?
Well said! 🤘🤘🤘
it's not that you don't have feel or emotion. when your sound is saturated and sustained you have a limìted dynamic range. it's difficult to go quiet to loud. Volume knob adjustments help.
homeboy said that exclusively to be a contrarian
My favorite backing track to improvise a solo in the style of Ace Spaceman
"All metal players play without any emotion or feel"
Meanwhile headbanging: 👁👄👁
The solo from “when a demon defiles a witch” has a great mixture of shred and emotion
Chris Poland’s playing on Megadeth’s - ‘Good Mourning/Black Friday’. ‘Good Mourning’ is about the best example of what it would sound like, if a guitar was crying that I can give anyone to listen too. Poland nails how to bring emotion out of a guitar and use a tremolo properly without all the wank and yank. The guitar drones like it’s sad Af. It’s a metal composition that’s full of emotion and when the solo takes off, it’s such a beautiful thing to hear. Chris Poland is so underrated as a player, it’s insulting and criminal that he hasn’t gotten more attention than he has after all these years. The players who know about him and respect him truly know what a great guitar player is though, that’s for sure!!
The thing is, speed is a technique, just like vibrato, bending, etc. All of these techniques are used to express a musical idea. Therefore, they all have “feel.”
There’s more to soloing than shredding, sure, but there’s more to shredding than just the shredding too.
Time is such a good song, I’ve had it on repeat for the last couple of days and just can’t get enough of it. The solo is amazing
Thanks for listening 🤘
As a Gospel/CCM/church musician I listen to metal because they bring more emotion, more grit and more technical expertise in the guitar.
That blank thousand yard stare you see on a metal guitarists face is called FOCUS.
Nah, every riff has an emotion to it if you give AF about what you're doing
man needs to differentiate people who write out of their emotions and "people are gonna think this sounds sick"
You can do both simultaneously.
Bro that was sick af!!!
This is why the solo from unforgiven is so damn good
Perfect feeling can hear the tears in bends and unison moves and slides... really fire 😢
Bernth you're a guitar virtouso, for me you can both play and impart your technique and skills for a beginner/intermediate/professional guitarist to understand.
I learned a lot from your channel. As an intermediate guitar player, I undestand that though speed may not be the key to play musical, it is still important though because it helps to explore different things in the guitar
👊💪👏
You suit that jacket really well man. Also good playing.
The final solo of Insomniun's song "While we sleep" is the proof of this guy don't know what is saying.
The reason Dime is and always will be my favorite guitarist is because when I was growing up I could hear what he was playing, yes, but I could feel it on a primal emotional level. There's many metal guitarists nowadays who play with that same soul. . . But Dime was my first, so he'll always be no.1 in my book.
In addition you sir sound fantastic 👌 loving it.
This Love, Floods, The Sleep, etc all make me emotional just listening to his guitar. I just started listening to pantera in January and I become a giant fan up to the point I started playing guitar again. Rip Dime
Metal guitarists show more emotion than any other guitarists
You’re joking right? Last I checked David Gilmour doesn’t play metal.
I just listened ths 4 times in s row... It's just amazing!
The guitar sings.
That was sublime
Jason Becker's music is full of emotions and feelings, and he are one of the most incredible shreds of all times.
There's definitely some metal that is more technical, but even then there's this "hell yeah" kind of emotion if you let yourself feel it. Plus, metal guitar is often so rich that it can take time to really love... then you can love individual songs for decades. That's the opposite of popular genres where people quickly like songs and quickly tire of them.
All right Martin Clay. That's one way to turn an entire community of millions against you.
😂😂😂😂
you are an amazing person BERNTH !!
Nailed it! I felt that too!
Emotion really translates to dynamics going fast to slow loud to soft. To some people different things feel emotional. To some super slow 2 notes a measure doesn’t do anything for them and for some people sweeping arpeggios in a powerful chord progression feels more emotional. Emotion is about expression and what connects with different people
You're one dude I really want to see at the top of the world in the music business . I hope the people behind the media houses acknowledge you although they are nothing but a bunch @ssholes and have their own commercial interests
I used to follow Joe Satriani and Steve vai but I love your playing more.. Looking forward to hear your kick @ss album
Much respect from 🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰
You look like a metal guitar player TRYING to play with emotion and feeling.
People only hear “emotion” in the pentatonic scale when you bend up a whole step 🤷♂️
Just randomly found this short and went straight to listening the song on spotify. Holy. Fuck. It's a masterpiece and that solo is perfectly executed. Well done.

@@Alex.Schmitt_Do you know what guitar this is?
As a massive blues fan I think the misconception comes from the fact that a lot of metal FANS, DON’T CARE about the feel the guitarists themselves actually put a lot of emotion in their music
How could people say metal guitar has no emotion to it, ITS PURE EMOTION. Whether it be rage, happiness, sadness, whatever man. Your riff is badass and not only proves your point as the guitar sounds like it’s screaming or crying out in a way at times, but most metal is expressive of one thing or another even if it’s a little sillier or more brutal when it comes to death metal haha.
I doubt they are talking to you bro you are scary amazing. People can’t even smell your level of skill that requires MUCH EMOTION to achieve.
When you sit on your desk and talk shit all day, but don't know anything.

It's called aggression. When people mention feeling, they usually mean sadness, happiness, loneliness, romanticism, melancholia, and any mix of these emotions
I just looked up best metal guitar solos and this was like the fifth in line and I think it needs to be higher.
Gotta go to listen to more of your songs.
Whoever made that comment should stop buying Slipknot CDs...
The ONLY people that bag on a guitar style/technique are the ones that can't do it themselves. Fact.
Metal music has its own sort of emotions and feel, that is why its a different genre and whoever doesn't understands this is probably not a metal appreciator.
Add feeling = how many different expressions you can make when playing
I wouldn’t say without emotion or feel, but I would say with a limited assortment of emotions or feelings. It’s pretty much just anger 24/7.
Bro, Motorbreath by Metallica is one song that I can think off that basically says to live your life to the fullest. That’s not anger. I can probably come up with way more.
I find the guitarist Buckethead to play with an incredible amount of subtlety and emotion compared to most.
That was pretty touchy Feely I got the frequency fuzzies!
i like that mini power chord shape you keep doing there
Random person: "All metal guitarists have no emotion when playing." Bernth: "Oh yea? Hold my guitar for a second. Oops never mind I need that to show you otherwise." PS Thanks for everything you have taught me. I'm 1000x better because of you. Still have so far to get better.
bro zakk wylde and dimebag darrell and many others play with so much feel
Those 8 measures spoke to somebody's soul. I didn't even see the short had said what the song was about in subtitles and I could tell this was a sad song I wouldn't want to listen to when I'm going through some ish. I don't even LISTEN to metal and I could tell that. Something with that much feeling in it CAN'T be created without putting a little of their soul into it, how can you assume they feel/express nothing when composing or playing?
My main emotin when playing guitar is frustration because I suck and don't have time nor energy to practice.
emotion and feel is subjective, melodies touch people in different ways, normally guitarists saying shred players have no feel is simply because they cant shred and they are jealous, that was a great solo
Mortality and Regret I felt this one Bernth
i mean, is like when you overcompress a voice or excessively tuned so it is heavily compressed. I get what they say that, withvintage sound usually you can manage grit, dist and compression better with your hand and that makes it more expressive
If it can give someone goosebumps it’s emotional, hell yea
i think the issue (even here) is the note choices, even for fast runs. From my experience the best tip for writing or playing an emotional solo is to write it in a way that when you sing the notes instead of playing them, they convey a strong feeling (whatever feeling it is you are trying to impose on your listeners). Its true for all genres, even metal. Good example of a guitarist who is excellent in doing this is Wes Hauch, his solos are shreddy, but super memorable and emotional, due to the vocal-like nature of his phrases
Shredding can add so much more emotion. Anger, frustration, determination, etc. Some ripping licks can take them to a whole new level.
At this point, I'm convinced that "emotion" and "feel" are vague terms thrown around by people who are jealous of guitarists who can play fast.
You went Bucketheaded there for a sec
That person must never have heard of Dimebag Darrell. The solos from Cemetery Gates and especially Floods are full of emotion.
I've been playing guitar for years I'm 53 years young I like all kinds of different music but my passion is heavy metal and I can honestly tell you whoever said that metal guitar players have no emotion don't know what the hell they're talkin about 😮
That was so Buckethead-y, I love it! 🔥
I guess, that message wrote Slayer's listener (and same extremely bands). And your solo is emotional and solos of other bands, for example, "Kreator" is emotive too!
Shredding is full emotion. When you shred all you’ll ever feel is emotion. Every note you hit on that fretboard is like words but not vocally conveyed.
The solo in I Could Have Lied by RHCP is emotional. I know it isnt metal but it's goosebumps.
This gave me chill bumps bro! good stuff!
This kind of sound is the only reason I would ever care to make a solo cause you can feel the passion and emotion.
Sick and Clean with all the feels. Thumbs up Bernth!
Awesome mate, good stuff, kind of emotional, mystical and cool at the same time.
You just confirmed that quote
You have got to be kidding right?
Are you’re tabs public or is this too new? Sounds amazing, instantly fell in love.
*They play without emotion or feel" could not be less untrue.
This beautiful solo like thousands of others in metal is nothing other than pure, true and raw emotion. Literally you can feel the pain as the music plays, they share their expereinces of life through the tips of their fingers....literally. i love and respect all that play this beautifully
A guitar cannot convey feel...
The guitar:
I used to love Metal but then lost all interest. This was decades ago. The last great Metal band i really enjoyed was GnR, the original line up though. After that i found the heavier music lost it's appeal, meaning and emotion. It doesn't diminish the players skill though, which if good has to be respected. Also i think with age comes a calmness of the mind that doesn't need to expel aggression through music. I have Arthritis in my left hand, as a result i have lost my speed. Now a wicked Blues player.
The twin guitar solo on Fields Of Desolation '99 by Arch Enemy is an absolute shred fest and gives me goosebumps
"Feel" means play slow so I dont feel bad about my abilities
voice of the soul - death
