Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make Drop Biscuits.
Drop Biscuits have a beautiful golden brown crust that is nice and crispy. Yet when you split one in half, inside it is wonderfully soft and tender. These biscuits are so easy to make; no kneading, rolling, or shaping the biscuits. All you do is mix the ingredients together with a fork, and then 'drop' the batter by heaping spoonfuls onto you baking sheet. Serve the biscuits with soups or stews, or cut in half and spread with butter and jam and/or clotted cream. These also make a great Breakfast Sandwich; just cut in half and fill with a slice of cheese, a bacon or sausage patty, and a fried or scrambled egg. They also make a delicious Strawberry Shortcake.

Yes in Australia we call it scones. We usually have it with fresh whip cream , strawberry jam and a fresh pot of tea which is then call Devonshire Tea. Saturday and Sunday afternoon is usually the traditional time to have it.To-day is my ten year of retirement and your channel has been very helpful to get this grandad to make great treats for my grandchildren, thank you Joy.

Just made this and am currently eating one now with some honey and butter. They're crispy on the outside and soft and light on the inside. First time making biscuits, from scratch or from a mix. They were very easy to make, and I recently started weighing my ingredients. The hardest part was getting the dough from the plate to the pan after weighing. After two biscuits, I just dropped them directly onto the pan. Another keeper. Tha Stephanie.

I’m wondering if you have tried the method of melting butter and then adding the cold milk so it form (globulars). I think that is the correct term. Anyway it’s suppose to take the place of cutting in the butter.

I love that one of your options for eating the biscuits is with a slice of cheese, which is my favorite for regular biscuits.
Americans who show people how to make biscuits on social media usually taste test them with jam and butter but to me it makes biscuits unhealthy to restrict yourself to mainly having them with those condiments.

The oven temperatures given are for a regular oven. So if using a fan oven you may need to reduce the oven temperature by 25F (15C). It depends on your oven so I would check your oven’s manual. Also, sometimes with fan ovens the baking time may be less.

There are many different ways to make both scones and biscuits. It can depend on where you live how you make them. Yes, some people only make their biscuits with lard or shortening. While others use butter. Both can still be called biscuits.

Stephanie., hey from Australia., I’ve watched you for yrs and I beg to differ over this.
The scones that we bake are nothing like the biscuits or drop biscuits Americans make.
    Totally different,
Even what we call a drop scone is different to yours.
It doesn’t matter but it’s v just weird that you said that., we can make scines out of flour and soda water/lemonade and a fess other things.
And they are difficult to learn to make . But I sure like the look of these., much easier and I’ll add some raisins and see how I go.
Thk u fir all yr yrs of service. 🐨👍🏻🌸
