  • Guess how many cups. Intruduced during Chris Evans' reign, but made more popular when re-used here with Johnny & Denise.

    Ahhh those first 10 seconds, never fail to crack me up. Really miss The BB - especially this era. I'm a grumpy person first thing typically, but always had a smile on my face after some BB in the morning, and frequently was late for work because of it!

    I like watching 90s things because it's like a memory test. I was born in 92 so I can sort of remember it and sort of not. I find 60s and 70s music hard to get into whereas 80s and 90s I'm more used to. I'd much rather research recent history than say the Victorians.

    @automat3000 I know, it was frustrating to hear so many callers to this game not applying the simple logic of narrowing down the numbers through the right sort of higher and lower guesses. There were even many occasions when someone would play it right, narrow it down to within a short range then go mad and guess something ludicrously off the scale.

  • @97channel
    @97channel  14 лет назад

    @birdy100 No, it had been running for a few weeks by this point. I seem to recall that this was during the final week of it's first J&D run. To be replaced by Santa's Stockings at the start of December.

    @birdy100 I'd say that's right. That would have worked out nicely for the launch of the replacement christmas competition, as Monday would have been December 1st. And this is from the same episode as the 'Vanilla' clip, where Phil Gayle says "it's close to christmas".

    Wow what a blast from the past. How dumb are those first two callers though? They wouldn't have got it if they had a whole minute! 190 - more tea vicar, 200 - more tea vicar, 210 - more, 220 - more etc. etc. I could have gotten it in 15 seconds like this: 300, 500, 400, 450, 425, 410, 415, 412, 411.

  • @97channel
    @97channel  14 лет назад

    @birdy100 I'm fairly sure I don't have any more of this game. Can't think of the name, but the second character Denise played was an overly enthusiastic, tamborine jangling, religious singing hippie type.

    THEE BEST SHOW ON BRITISH TV EVER !!!
    In the 90's i always used to be late for school as i would not leave the house until the Big Breakfast had ended at 9:00.
    9:00 is the same time i had to be at school for and i was always still at home at 9:00 and my school was a 1 mile walk away lol.

    rainbowfairy420 - Sadly this show is no longer around, it ran out of steam when the guy in this clip left and was axed a year later in 2002. The only thing we have now is GMTV, which is all about outraged neurotic mothers. Vicar is an english term for a preacher/priest.

      There had been rumours and hints of a souring off screen relationship, right back in The Big Breakfast days.
      Tabloids correctly predicted when Denise was about to quit the show, with alleged insiders claiming that she had become unhappy working with Johnny and being squeezed out of the spotlight by him. She denied this on air, when announcing her decision to leave, but only claimed that their "working" relationship was fine.
      Johnny later claimed that the only relationship they had was on screen.
      No idea if any of this is actually true. But a few of the pieces do seem to fit.
