So far the best review/info video of this drumkit. Having watched all the others including the Alesis ones, this has spot on tight drumming, a good representation of the most likely real world useable kits without all the nonsense whirling around the kit. Thank you.
Yea, it is helpful to know the module is more advanced than most, but there are flaws, and hopefully, in the future, they will fix the issues and come out with a kit worth considering buying. Alesis has stepped up the game, but until they come out with a more reliable kit, they are only good for home practice, and I would not use an Alesis kit on stage live, at least not until they improve further.
Informative, interesting and really well filmed - thank you Gideon! Keep the content coming - this has helped me decide what kit I’m getting next 🔥🎉 What’s your favourite sound on this kit?
the module is a step forward... the cymbals are a step forward... the hihat is a step forward... the thinner toms and snare are a VERRY disappointing step backwards... the bass drum is the same as the strike pro se. my prediction is people will be mostly interested in the module...pairing it with a more full size drum shell package.
I agree with the cymbals and the module! I personally really like the sizes of the toms and snare. The shell depth adds nothing to the performance IMO- just takes up more space so I'm happy with the sizing configuration of the Strata Prime.
@@GideonWaxman.. thinner shells look electronic...that aesthetic becomes a bit of an undesirable image perception in certain genre of live music ... electronic drums dont look rock n roll. its a step backwards from the strike pro se...thicker shells dont really take up more space on stage...
BEWARE!!!! As of April 02, 2024, this module doesn't allow Bluetooth Audio, so you won't be able to connect your phone and listen to tracks to jam to. Love how it sounds and feels, but super bummed out over the previous fact.
The start up takes a while, which is not surprising considering the architecture of the module - ie it’s essentially a Linux computer powering BFD. The switching between kits seems fine, again for large sample based kits.
It only takes 2 seconds to load each of the modules kits, you gotta remember these are VST Samples so files are larger than your average module with crappy sounds.
It feels amazing, there's a small kick pillow attached to the inside of the head which helps make it feel like a real kick drum. And very accurate and responsive triggering. See my newest video with examples of my double kick playing!
@@brianzembruski5485I have the Alesis Strike Pro SE and they are not loud at all. My similar sized Pearl kit is loud. My point is why have a 20 drum if Tom shells are loud
Something I've not seen a single review touch on, which makes me worried that this feature isn't present... and that is the ability to play with actual brushes and it respond to brush sweeping (like one of the Roland kits!) ... And it looks like the snare doesn't have an actual physical switch to turn the snares on/off?
I’ve been posting this question on just about every review. Maybe I missed it in someone’s video but can someone PLEASE tell me can you assign effect symbol sounds splash or crash sounds to the rims of these drums or can you only make them have rim clicks or cross stick sounds???Thank you.
Thank you so much for replying. I thought it would be cool to be able to do that because moving to this from my acoustic kit, I will be losing a lot of my effect symbols. I thought it would be a way to get back and have a similar set up plus you wouldn’t have to worry about physically placing them everywhere you could just tap the rim, oh well, not a dealbreaker though thank you again
I have a VAD 507 and I'm not looking to change (mostly because of no $$ left over 😂), but seriously - the 360 on the cymbals, 3 zones, and the module alone would make me seriously consider it.
@@jamessullenriotyeah I got you but man, I’m not trying to be a fanboy of Roland, but we know the quality that the product offers it’s crazy, the durability is incomparable with Alesis, when the strike pro came out it was a surprise like this strata kit, but now we know some issues about it, It's only a matter of time before an issue appears. I wouldnt trade this VAD507 for anything
Just like others, i got screwed by alesis pro se kit. It should have been a great kit from start. Should have worked out all the bugs!!!! Gonna sit this one out until all bugs are out!!! (3500.00) no way for now!!!
I think there's always going to be newer technology and advancements, particularly with E-kits. I'm not sure about the Strike Pro SE but I had no issues with any bugs, but firmware updates can be sent out via WiFi to the module in case.
Brother do not take it as an insult but I struggled for a good minute to tell if your face was AI overlayed or is it genuine, don't know if it's RUclips compression or what but I thought I'd share this bizarre experience anyways. Great video though!
@@GideonWaxman many thanks for the reply. As soon as I can convince ‘erindoors it’s on the list. Either this or Roland VAD507. The digital snare, hats and ride are great on the Roland. Do you agree?
@@stephensmith6479 They are both great kits. VAD507 takes up more space as that's sized as a full acoustic kit which is a consideration, and quite a bit more expensive. Either kit would serve extremely well and they're right up there at the top end of the product lines.
Nice! Great choice. I'm pretty sure that kit is either number 2 or 5, one of the birch ones. I'm about to release a video where I demo ALL 74 kits! Stay tuned for that.

The module looks really laggy when you’re scrolling through the kits
That's a fair observation! I found it can be a little laggy, especially just after starting up. But I had no real issues with it

How is double bass pedal feeling? Is the bd stable and the trigger responsive? Searching some kit like this one in order to play metalcore, thanks!!

Visually its a step back to pads. Not sure why they bothered with keeping the bass drum that size.
Nothing wrong with pads. Deep shells cost more and are louder - two things no one should want.

All I care about is will the Module be sold separately and trigger well for 8 to 1,200 dollars.

So is it better than the Strike pro SE? Is the hi hat better than the SEs pile of poo?
Absolutely is - the hi hats were awesome, no mis-triggering or anything like that. All the pads and cymbals are super sensitive

Any idea how much trigger input control you get for use with other pads?
I seem to recall the strike didnt play too well with other pads.
It's got 3 spare inputs, I haven't personally tried expanding the triggers but I'm sure it's good to go with any type of pad.
