      But it seems Alco products here are saying goodbye.
      And the Marplatense coaches...still remain out of service till further notice. They require a heavy investment on maintenance and modernisation...

      Just because the fan is spinning doesn’t mean it’s fully online, it probably receiving power via the the other locos so some of the electrical work. And no, it’s not operational.

      In 2016, a bloke called Bernie Baker organised a gathering of "Streamliner" type diesel locos from all over Australia at Goulburn Roundhouse. They all have that very distinct rounded front, and, as far as I'm aware, it was to celebrate that type of locomotive design, and it was also taken as an opportunity to have as many "streamliners" in one place at one time as possible.

    Australia looks like a railfan paradise! These locomotives look something like EMD's E-units that were built and used in America up until about 1970. I think the American E-units were better looking than the Aussie locos, but I think the double-cab Aussie locos look great.

    • @Geebax2
      @Geebax2 4 года назад

      Yes, except the US E-units had A-1-A trucks with only two traction motors, the centre axle was an idler. The ones in this clip are C0-C0 units, with 3 motors per truck, all axles powered.

      @@Geebax2 You may need to rethink that statement. I am fairly sure GM1 at least has A-1-A configuration, GM10 is highly likely also to be the same. Open to correction as usual.
