The words and the melody put me in a happy mood! I was too young to remember The Seekers when they formed back in the 60's. Now that I am older and listen to their music, it's not hard to understand why they are so popular. I wish they would tour in America.
I can see what you mean about his patronising, almost teacherly tone. I think that's a lot to do with his accent and not intentional, along with the fact he was Ireland's most famous broadcaster in a time when the country was relatively conservative (he presented his show from 1962-1999). The Irish TV viewing public then didn't have many options open to them in terms of exposure to difference, so there was always a sense from him that he was there to educate Irish society. He was never afraid to tackle controversial and taboo topics on his chat show, and often went against the establishment (mainly the Church). I re-listened to his Seekers intro and he came across as kind and supportive I thought.
Thank You so much. There music never gets old.

Was that man always so patronising to his guests? Dreadful! I know famous people put up with a lot but was that really necessary?
