Without knowing your growing conditions, it is hard to make a blanket recommendation, but sometimes a brom hasn't produced enough carbohydrate to flower, and the amount of light is sometimes the cause. Try introducing your brom to more light and over time it will have enough energy to flower. Thanks for watching!
Hi Sir I just saw your video and I just want to know what should I do if my bromiliad similar to the one in your video has leaves dying starying from the center... Also it already has a small pup on the side should i seperate it or wait for it to grow a bit more estimated size of it is 2 inches... The plant is in a pot with coconut fiber instead of soil and my location is here in the Philippines.. Hope you can help me. Thank you.
Two really good questions...if your bromeliad is dying in the center it may be due to senescence (has it flowered?) , or if not, there may be some issue with fungal organisms or bacteria. As for the pup, if it is about 1/3 the size of the adult then you can remove it.
Hi I just bought one of these and the tips of my leaves are curling what would be the cause? Also since getting it a slowly losing the green I didn't know it needed water in the middle could this be the reason?
If your bromeliad leaves are curling along their length, Ie the edges of the leaf are cupping, that is a sign that the plant is trying to conserve moisture by reducing the exposed area of the leaf, and that is indicative of drought stress. sorry for the late reply, and if I have mis-read the question please come back to clarify..
Hey Rusty. I bought an Alcanteria a few days ago that looks very much like the plants you showed. I want to repot it to expand its growing room and was going to remove the old leaves at that time. Could I do that or do I need to sit on my hands?
Most informative and enjoyable!
From now on I'll be paying better attention to my plants..
Cheers
Thank you for this video, you really explain things very well! Can't wait to watch the rest of your videos
Thank you so much for watching!
Sheesh look at the size of that brom!! Great video, these are great for beginners
I love your channel. Thank you for the info.
So I have solved one mystery, thanks. Waiting to see a video on other leaf problems.
Dr. Rusty! The plant doctor.
I like to put googly eyes on my bromeliads… so i can see where i stand with my plants.

My bromeliads look rough after hurricane Ian. Do they get windburn? I am not sure if they are salvageable or just stunned. How can I tell?

Its fine to remove any senescent leaves when repotting. Have fun!
