This is only my opinion. I'd call this an average performance that feels more like a rehearsal masquerading as a 1st show of a tour. It feels like these paid guns are doing everything they can to make Ace's songs work. I give them credit for keeping it afloat. But...boy. I come from a school of thought where the legend in the center (whos "still got it", as they enter their twilight) anchors the tune with... lets call it "weathered mastery" and the people around him take it to another level. It seems to me Ace's ethos is true to his live show- lazy, flashy, and fun. He gets the crowd into it, he highlights the night with hits and his brand new single, but musically, he's all over the place and vocally, I'm sorry, but I just don't believe his words nor his pitches. I get it. Rock n' roll doesn't need to be precise. It should be a little rough around the edges. That what keeps it exciting, when it almost goes off the rails and it feels like something's being said. But I also think you should continue to hone your craft and hopefully keep trying to reach for something new, with a wisdom and focus you can only achieve by challenging yourself. Perhaps he has in ways I'm not hip to. It doesn't reflect so in this one. What I feel from this show is a guy who's charming, care-free, and has made some positive changes for himself, but hasnt been sharpening his sword in the process. I think its important to have both. I'll admit I'm a little biased, but I think everyone can agree, theres more work to be done. And I have to say this- I've listened to his interviews these past few years and feel hes been more focused on being a victim, then taking ownership for his ability. I can understand his frustration, but not how he expresses it. I guess I had hoped he'd reach the opposite perspective, finding humility and taking ownership such as bands like Metallica, The Mars Volta or Blink 182 have. Oh well. The guitarists keep looking at the drummer who's literally staring off playing whatever he wants. Not that it could really help the cringe guitar player standing in front of Ace mouthing the words to the songs.
As a drummer, I can tell you: the drummer is playing quarter notes on his high hat on almost every song. Peter Criss almost always played 8th notes on the high hat, and slightly ahead of the beat, which gives the songs a bit of urgency. That's exactly why most of them are dragging. If you listen to the studio version of "Shock Me," the tempo is just about the same as it is here

One thing i think we can all agree on about Ace: hes probably not holed up in his studio practicing. Anyone want to guess how much hes making per show? I don't have any idea
Hey! According to his management group, his booking fee in 2023/2024 is between $25K-39K. That's simply the fee to book a show where Ace would be the headlining act. My source is CTI (Celebrity Talent Int'l) and they're pretty accurate with their numbers. They also do not negotiate for acts who pledge their profits from a show to charity - as CTI requires a payor contract so they get paid comp per performance. As for what he actually makes per show, those estimates appear to vary greatly. Some sources estimate Frehley earns between $150K-$300K per show. I'm 99.95% sure that's fairly inaccurate. The venues he's booked the last 5-10 years do not support the size crowds to support those figures. Other sources who also debunk the above numbers argue it's more in the $50-$75K range per show. This seems a bit more in line with the industry and his status to draw crowds. Depending on the source, his total net worth sits at between $12-$15 Million. The above per show figures may not include additional income from album sales, royalties, and merchandise associated with KISS and his solo projects. PS- Knowing he has a fairly small, but experienced, road crew and of course he has to pay his band.. my personally opinion is he's making somewhere between $75K-$125K per show - all in. He pays his crew and band, pays the cut to the promoter (based on door draw) and venue expenses. Plus travel, food, hotel, etc.. which can be a business write off at year-end for tax purposes. I think my number is ok and solid - but still probably just my best guess with my past network experience covering production over the years.
@rdgSWwot I'd be surprised if it's that much. Im thinking more like 25K if its a flat fee, or MAYBE a 60/40 split with Ace getting the 60 and the venue getting the 40. I looked up the capacity of this venue, and it's 428. Either he's making way less, or the ticket prices would have to be astronomical for the promoters to make money. I don't think his net worth is over a million. He owes the IRS 200K and can't pay.
@@JokersWild70 I agree it’s nothing like they report. And he does owe the IRS.. they’re holding his passport thus no European shows yet. I’d add that your net worth applies across your income holdings. So it could be over $1M or even $12M but that doesn’t necessarily mean you have that as disposable income or even profit. Knowing him, he’s blown through most of it. He’s basically a working musician now.
This is from his website.."..For the first time in nearly 20 years, the legendary guitarist has concocted an explosive new solo effort. Flaunting fiery riffs, pristine production and jaw-dropping craftsmanship.." But to watch that live..free entrance..free beer..my guitar hero when i was 9/10 yr old....he doesnt look like he is having any fun😞
It's his brain, not working even at a 10% any longer, Paul lost his voice but could still deliver a show (although lypsyncing) and Gene will show why not being an addict is the right way of living this year with his solo shows

This is great! In a world where a majority of artists are using autotune and/or prerecorded tracks and faking it, this 70+ year old player is still kicking ass raw and live. A few rough edges? He could tighten it up a bit. Whatever. Sounds great to me. Especially for an audience recording. (This isn't a "soundboard" folks.) Would love to have been there. Rock on, Ace! Can't wait for the new record!

At the end of "Back in the New York Groove", it would have been cool if they launched into "Baba O Reilly" by The Who since it has the same chord progression.
Ewwww.....if you say so. I have always found it a turn off when I am listening to an artist I like and they suddenly reference another artists song like that. Ends up sounding like a Vegas oldies revue. Lol. Do a cover of the whole song, or just don't bother. That's only me. To each their own.
@@gregjohnson298So the rhythm guitars in the 70s on the tracks of Paul, Demon and Peter were played by Stanley alone? Considering that their live shows in the 70s sounded decent, is it strange, because Ace's guitar sounded louder than Paul's guitar in the live shows?
I was there too at the Grand Theater last night. It's been about 45 years since I was really a KISS fan, but it was a great show and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Really impressive that he can still rock so hard at 72. The awesome backing band--especially that incredible drummer--also added a lot.

Not a horrible job on Shock Me. But after watching this, I can totally understand why Paul Stanley would call a reunion with Ace....'Piss'. Too many years of frying his brain.
One other comment I want to make about this is that if this video was not chopped up and only certain songs were played I am disappointed. This is Ace's concert not kiss. Ace is playing nothing but a lot of kiss songs instead of his songs and if that's all ace is doing is promoting old kiss music instead of his new album there's no way I want to put any money towards seeing him I really just want to see him and him playing his music maybe dabble in just a little of the past but just him singing lead on the songs that he sang while with kiss.
Why is it every time I see vids of his concerts he doesn't even have a light show? That's part of rock and roll mang and what makes a good show imo. Hell, even no name bands have a LITTLE lighting.

Do you know how much money Gene and Paul milked from their "Fans" for crap since the original KISS broke up?
@@JokersWild70 Fk the IRS,,,,,,they are owned by England and their building has been CLOSED since 2019,,,,,,,Trump fkd them Up and he is just starting
That Firebird looks so cool. And Ace is still rocking.
Poor Ace. Having to play in a place like Frankfort and people expect a noteworthy performance 😂
The feedback and Ace hitting the E flat chord instead of the D is just awful. Get it together man
He clearly only picks up a guitar when there's a paycheck involved.
Cool clips 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is from his website.."..For the first time in nearly 20 years, the legendary guitarist has concocted an explosive new solo effort. Flaunting fiery riffs, pristine production and jaw-dropping craftsmanship.."
But to watch that live..free entrance..free beer..my guitar hero when i was 9/10 yr old....he doesnt look like he is having any fun😞
God he's even worse than he was this past summer! Didn't think it could be possible?!?!?!
Rocket ride is awful. He doesn't care. I'd rather watch Ritchie play and sing all the songs
He was lost often, especially detroit rock city. Had to call out solo in rock n roll all night, to cue himself in. Lost in that song as well. Wow
when the first verse kicks in at the beginning of the song he looks so lost and then tries to slide his finger up to the right front fret
It's his brain, not working even at a 10% any longer, Paul lost his voice but could still deliver a show (although lypsyncing) and Gene will show why not being an addict is the right way of living this year with his solo shows
Ace Frehley, virtuoso e excelente guitarrista da cena rock é célula ou chama eterna e viva do Kiss. Graças a Deus! Saúde,; proteção, força, criatividade, disposição e vida longa para ele. Bote mais energia aí Frehley, vc pode e deve, é com0etente e capaz.
VIDA LONGA AO KIßS E ACE, JUNTOS OU SEPARADOS! BPF! 😜🤟
I love Ace but this is getting ridiculous with everyone saying he's been off the road or his voice wasn't good that night. It's called Practice. Does he not have any band rehearsal before going out to play these dates? If he does, then it truly is over.
I'm sure the band rehearses but Ace is above that,he a rock god lol
And Ace’s band just takes the money, no matter how bad the show is !!
Should they not get paid?
@@giraffesareselfish9563 obviously they should, money is more important than self respect !
Ace wearing a shirt with Gene and Paul's face on it..
This is great!
In a world where a majority of artists are using autotune and/or prerecorded tracks and faking it, this 70+ year old player is still kicking ass raw and live.
A few rough edges? He could tighten it up a bit. Whatever. Sounds great to me. Especially for an audience recording. (This isn't a "soundboard" folks.)
Would love to have been there.
Rock on, Ace! Can't wait for the new record!
Keep supporting KRAP
Agree
ACE FREHLEY IS A ROCK SOLDIER !!! 50 YEARS OF AWESOME SMOKIN GUITAR MUSIC !!!
Brutally bad.
His previous tours were fine.. this gig!!! 😮Ace obviously is pissed or high or both!!! 17 years sober?????? His ex mate on RUclips said if you believe that then 😂😂😂😂😂😂 he’s drinking unfortunately he will be lucky to see the end of the tour out at this rate!
This is awesome
Oh man. If I didn't love Ace as much as I do, I would totally pan his performance this night. That said, he is still Ace Frehley, and the spectacle of it is as such.
Chocking BEST! Pure Rock n Roll.
Opening with Shock Me then right into Rocket Ride? FIRE!!!
this guy is too fkn cool!!!!! Awesome vid, thanku!
Ace is always cool. Thanks.
@@lovegun67the coolest to ever do it.
Found out about the show way too late and couldn't get tix. And only live about 20 miles from the venue. Def appreciate this posting. Yeah it's sloppy and we've all seen better, but gotta love Ace. All in all not too bad anyway.
Ace, go home and behave yourself.. its waay past ur bedtime ffs 😂😂😂
Ace isn’t even playing the main riff on 10,000 volts , he probably doesn’t play it on the recording?
agree, he doubt if he even wrote it at all. AI probably sung it.
@@jimbo0411it's a Steve Brown record with electric and space references peppered in.
The other guitarist is playing some of the solos too, its sad
i remember ace used to be in a band good times
Even if I give Ace a hard Time in some comments on RUclips I don't want him to stop cause now that KISS has retired I am wanting to see him live even more. By the way 10 000 Volts kicks major Ass. No bad songs. Pure Rock'n'roll
He should use an avatar instead
HE HAS BEEN OFF THE ROAD FOR A WHILE and he is 72 folks
he's been off the road for a few weeks LMFAO He just played a gig in Vegas in Dec and before that a summer tour that wrapped up in Aug/Sept and he's been working on an album! Quit making excuses for him, Keith Richards is nearly a decade older and done more drugs than Ace and plays flawlessly! This is due to Ace just doesn't give a F*CK!
Por siempre ACE...!!!!
Where was this filmed, in a high school auditorium?
Weekend At Bernie's.
Oh boy the singing 🥵🫢🫣
you mean the talking. Ace never sang lyrics, he just speaks them.
Yeah the singing is really bad, It is almost as horrible as his guitar playing! I know kids that have been playing 2 months that can play better.
It's not what I expected. But Ace gave "HIS" best. And he loves KISS❤.
No matter what he says, he honors Paul by performing his "Detroit Rock City" and the Paul/Gene anthem "Rock and Roll All Nite". Ace still wants to be forever KISS. Good guy. But more dead than ALIVE!
Tax man show it pays to pay your taxes or get caught
Not sure what’s worse. Ace or Vinnie. This is fuckin horrible.
i took a dump this morning and it sounded better than Ace's solo
9:33 10,000-volts live
Why are the house lights on the whole show? Looks like a high school talent show. Lighting guy fell sleep.
cause he’s old and probably can’t see that great
Ace ... crank your guitar ... great solo on Shock me ... and I love your shirts
for god sake hang it up! i keep opening these thinking it cant get worse. how can you screw up communication break down and how many more times. been playing rock n roll all night for forty years and cant remember it. i love ace but there's no defending this its beyond terrible. watch the band they're. trying to cover the best they can. the solo sounded like a bad day at guitar center. if you think he can still play find a guitar teacher who s never heard of kiss and play this for him. hell tell you the truth. hes a legendary guitarist that had great stage presence and his leads were great 25 years ago. he cant play or sing anymore make all the excuses you want this is proof
Bota esse batera para aumentar um pouco a velocidade, Ace que se vire, ele dá seu jeito, tem competência para isso, e solte esa voz também, my brother. Jogue duro!
I love Ace him and gene are my favorites and paul
At the end of "Back in the New York Groove", it would have been cool if they launched into "Baba O
Reilly" by The Who since it has the same chord progression.
@@garyhill2740 it is an oldies review. Just about every song is more than 40 years old. One is from 2023 and one is from 1987.
@garyhill2740 new york groove is already another artists song lmao
Ace was so lost in 10,000 volts did he even play on that single?
Of course not,he didn't play on most of the Kiss material either, you just saw why. This is a rock star not a musician.
Rehearsel gig?
I was there too at the Grand Theater last night. It's been about 45 years since I was really a KISS fan, but it was a great show and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Really impressive that he can still rock so hard at 72. The awesome backing band--especially that incredible drummer--also added a lot.
That “guitar solo” … I don’t want to remember Ace like this. I think I’ll go put the first Frehley’s Comet album on repeat and hope it purges my memory of this atrocity
Ok, I have to ask........who did the vocals on 10,000 volts?
Maybe they got ace the speak the lyrics and then they autotuned the hell out of it
Auto Tune
Not good
Can't stand it can you that a 72 year old man is doing something you only wish you could do.
@@user-qi6qw4kk4x I don't think anyone is wishing to be tone deaf and embarrass one self night after night
@@user-qi6qw4kk4xDon't show your ignorance. There are PLENTY of rockers that are in their 70's, that are still brilliant. Tommy Shaw (Styx), Glen Hughes, Paul Rodgers (Bad Co), Alice Cooper, Joe Lynn Turner, Derek St. Holmes (Ted Nugent band) Roger Daltry, Jack Blades, John Waite, Sammy Hagar, Tom Johnston.(Doobie Brothers) and a ton more!!!! These guys also "PREPARE" before they go out and perform.
This was awful! When Ace did sing, he sounded deeper and sang into the mic 30-50% of the time. He couldn't replicate anywhere near the good studio sound of 10,000 volts. An absolute train wreck. And a sad way to represent a song that has so much buzz. Very unfortunate!! Especially after ALL the hype and praise we've been hearing on Ace's upcoming album.
The only "something" that Ace is doing here is embarrassing himself. And you probably realize that too!!
Seems drunk again, I hope he does not. I hope it is just a matter of age
He wasn't drunk. I spoke with him backstage immediately after this show. He's just getting older and doesn't move very fast these days.
I love Ace his new album (which I am sure I am going to buy) and of course him as a person but he has to practice on playing guitar and singing at the same time. Please Ace, go rehearse a little more!
That was like watching Hendrix on the guitar. ACE only gets better 😎😍
did we watch the same Ace? LMFAO
@@raaawkstaaar I must get a huge bag of whatever he's smokin 😂😂😂
Erm a big fat no
Huh?
I love Ace, but let’s not delude ourselves, this sucks.
..if you don't like ace's playing or singing you do it your self instead then.. :)
not much of a challenge there to sound better than that.. 😅 worst i have ever heard him on 10K volts

_Weekend At Frehley’s_
Why is it every time I see vids of his concerts he doesn't even have a light show? That's part of rock and roll mang and what makes a good show imo. Hell, even no name bands have a LITTLE lighting.
Painful to watch...
Rock and Roll All Nite foi um desastre. 😂 Com certeza não ensaiaram antes! 🤦🏾♂️
They sound like they're all on valium.
