These Rattan Nunchaku are much lighter compared to standard wooden Nunchaku, they are much closer in weight to the Foam Nunchaku. This means you get a really ymsootv transition from Foam to wood via these Rattan Nunchaku. You get the size and hardness of wood bu the weight of foam. You can get used to these features first and then when ready and comfortable slowly move onto wood in your own time.

Doug,
I just sent you an email requesting
tapered ratan chucks, I realize they
are not available, that they aren't even
made, but hope someone
decides to start making them.
Get the heaviest rattan chucks you can find. Rattan is generally pretty light weight yet at the same time it is as tough as nails. Rattan is a fiberous vine so it won't crack like wood. I have two pair that I have owned for decades and have been used in real contact stick fighting, and they just have a few dents and dings. That's it!
Hey man, thanks for taking the time to write this. Really good info. Great to hear your chucks have lasted so long.
@@EnsoMartialArts What about for flipping and rolls, I find that some weight helps for those tricks, would the Rattan's not be heavy enough?
Hi, I have two questions, are those nunchucks strong enough for impact without breaking? And do they send the nunchuck to other countries or not?
Why after all these decades have they never tried to make sealed bearings chucks.
I wanna know if these will do the job defending myself like my full on solid wood chucks?
im not sure i would recommend hitting anyone with nunchaku, getting hit with any of them thats not the foam ones will hurt, if your looking to defend yourself try Kickboxing or Krav maga as these can teach you without having to use weapons
@@EnsoMartialArts That answers that.
What do you oil bearings with and can you oil them without taking them apart I subscribed
1:37 What does 'nice and light' (Ratan) mean in terms
of grams or oz? Per handle? Thanks..
Hello, so these weigh 250g total which is about half of regular oak nunchaku, so I guess around 100g per shaft.
@@EnsoMartialArts Wow,
that's around 4 grams, must be damn
quick. Geebus...
I have been trying to find out what Bruce
Lee was using, weights , chain, etc, the
info available is all over the place, but
sometimes he'd use balsa wood with
a center rod to give it a little weight and
stability , then sometimes perhaps
Rattan, he slapped Jackie Chan upside
the head with probably Rattan, haha.
Thanks for the info.
ps, I just received a pair of machined
aluminum , wow, incredibly balanced and
about 8oz/224g each handle.
3 years later, having watched a few
videos, it is obvious in some that he
was using rubber chucks as well as
foam chucks, mostly chain but occasionally
cord.
From time to time some shots appear
to show standard hardwood chucks.
I've owned a pair of those when I lived in👍👐🙏 Phoenix, Arizona🌴 10227 North 32nd Lane Apt 235
Yeah nice, always fun to play with
