  • From my VHS recordings, here are the bumpers, promos and commercials that aired on Comedy Central during part of the Mystery Science Theater 3000 marathon in 1995 (November 23rd, 1995). Specifically, the episode of MST3K that aired here was "Mitchell". Going by the number of Christmas commercials, consider this my little tribute to "Christmas in July".
    Included here:
    1. "MST3K" Christmas catalog promo
    2. The Mystery Science Theater 3000 bumper
    3. Comedy Central "Totally Free Movie Marathon" promo
    4. "Toy Story" promo ("in theaters now!")
    5. Burger King commercial ("Toy Story" Kids Meal promo)
    6. "Jif" Peanut Butter commercial
    7. "Dr. Katz" promo (3 days until the series premiere. This was the animated show on Comedy Central BEFORE the creation of South Park.)
    8. Promo for the MST3K "ConventioCon II" (which would occur the following year - Labor Day weekend 1996).
    9. Aptiva IBM computer / Radioshack commercial
    10. "Casino" movie promo ("now playing at theaters everywhere")
    11. "MST3K Anthology" (aka "MST3K Turkey Day Marathon") bumper
    12. The Mystery Science Theater 3000 bumper
    13. "Batman Forever" on VHS promo
    14. Playstation promo (Part of the "You are not ready!" launch ad campaign). The PS1 had just premiered in North America 2 months prior, on September 9th, 1995.
    15. "Sheik condom" commercial (the clothing and hair style featured here is just....so 90's!)
    16. "The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Stupid Fairy Tales" book promo.
    17. "Dr. Katz" series promo
    18. "Stargate" on VHS promo
    19. "Clearasil" acne cream commercial
    20. "Sunny Delight" commercial ("Purple stuff, soda, oh Sunny Delight Lite!" - I'm still want to try the purple stuff...)
    21. "Get Shorty" soundtrack promo
    22. "Comedy Central Institute" (a promo for Comedy Central's line-up)
    23. "Sprite" commercial (part of the "Obey Your Thirst" ad campaign that was popular in the mid-90's)
    24. "Trojan Condom" commercial (apparently getting men to use condoms in the mid-90's was a national crisis that needed addressed).
    25. AT&T "True Reach Savings" commercial
    26. "USSB Satellite" commercial (USSB would later be absorbed in "DirecTV"). Apparently only digital satellite TV can reunite the love between fathers and sons - as they bond together watching TV on the sofa.
    27. "Vicks Nyquil cold medicine" commercial
    28. "Casino" movie promo (the 2nd one during the broadcast)
    29. "Wilsons" leather clothing commercial
    30. "MST3K ConventioCon II" promo
    31. The Mystery Science Theater 3000 bumper
    32. "Levi's 501" jeans commercial
    33. "True Value" Christmas commercial
    34. "Atari Jaguar" commercial. The comeback attempt by Atari that was eclipsed by the launch of the original Playstation.
    35. "Vibrance" shampoo
    36. Comedy Central bumper (cracking a lame joke about the Beatles). For context, this was around the time of the release of "Beatles Anthology 1", the "greatest hits" album that had "Free as a Bird", the first new Beatles song in 25 years.
    37. Comedy Central "Totally Free Movie Marathon" promo
    38. Comedy Central line-up promo (includes a jab at Discovery Channel's "Shark Week", which really took off in popularity around the early to mid 90's).
    38. "MST3K Anthology" (aka "MST3K Turkey Day Marathon") bumper
    39. "Dr. Katz" series promo
    40. "Casno" movie promo (the 3rd one during this broadcast).
    41. "Wilsons" leather clothing commercial
    42. "Polaroid camera" commercial (starring "Sinbad" and "Scrooge")
    43. "Tower" music store commercial (featuring "Green Day", Bruce Springsteen, Garth Brooks, Meat Loaf, "Waiting to Exhale" soundtrack, and "Candlebox"). I'll admit that I saw Candlebox in concert in 1995....
    44. Playstation promo (Part of the "You are not ready!" launch ad campaign).
Commentary: This may be the oldest recorded material of my own doing (yes, I was really into Mystery Science Theater that year). Any older material on my channel that I find was probably originally recorded by my parents (who threw away a lot of their VHS recordings from the 80's and early 90's back when DVD's became popular). I had a handful of Fox Kids recordings from 1993 or 1994, but those were likely pitched by my parents in the big "VHS tape purge", much to my sadness. Still, consider this upload a time capsule of what life was like back in the mid 90's!
    Stay tuned, more to come!
