Hard Luck living in his head has stuck with me my whole childhood lol i thought this was an entire series when i went looking for it suprosed to see its only a short. Just shows how much an idea can stick with ya no matter how little exposure i had to it
1f5sda1991 They were great animators. They did Jonny Quest, Dino Boy In the lost valley, Space Ghost, Mighty Mightor, Moby Dick, Young Samson & Goliath, Scooby-Doo Where are you, Valley of the Dinosaurs, Scooby & Scrappy Doo, Godzilla, Super friends, The new Adventures of Jonny Quest, Snorks, Shirt Tales, Dink the little Dinosaur, The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, The Greatest Adventure Stories from the Bible, The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest & The Powerpuff Girls. Including 2 Full Length Jonny Quest Features, Most Scooby-Doo Features & Possibly Tom & Jerry The Movie. Especially some Christmas Specials.
Gosh I remember watching this as a kid! I really love it and still do. You don't see many sweet and protective cartoon gators. I would have loved seeing more of this series. ♥️
Bill Hanna still had it even in the 1990s! Must have been refreshing and fun for him to do a cartoon like this after decades of having to do Saturday morning cartoon schlock! Feels like something he woulda done back in the 1940s and 50s! Even the designs feel so MGM like.
And Harley's voiced by Brad Garrett aka Big Dog from "2 Stupid Dogs" and the fox is Jim Cummings. Won't go through all the voices Jim's done because he's done so many.
Never seen this before untill my best pal showed me this!Shame this never had more Episodes!Jim Cummings does the Cajun Accent spot on!I would wish for Hard Luck to meet Douie, Houie and Louie (Since it is the same Voice Actress)!
Yep! The late, great Russi Taylor! Recognized it as soon as I heard it! DuckTale (1987) was one of my childhood cartoons! And of COURSE, the Cajun Fox is the INCREDIBLE Jim Cummings!
William hanna is best of created and written and directed all time and William hanna is the living legend best the living legend the goats all time and i really am growing up watch what a cartoon on cartoon network all time jim Cummings and Brad Garrett and russi Taylor all 3 voice is my favorite all time
They should’ve gone, picked up became a cartoon show its own series with the duck and the crocodile or maybe he’s a alligator also, the duck, his voice sounds like like the old voice of the character from the old cartoon show of DuckTales. This duck sounds a lot like Huey, Dewey, and Louie from the old cartoon show. The one where they used to all have the same voice is.
I wonder how funny this would still be if a human chef who owns the Cajun Cafe (still voiced by Jim Cummings) tried to put Hard Luck Duck on his menu and Harley thwarts his efforts.
Speaking of yakky doddle does that croc remind you of chopper the bulldog ? Especially when he told him to cover your eyes you don't want to see this lol
My only problem is harley's reaction which he shouldn't of scolded hardluck for. Literally he put hardluck in danger with the old duck disguise routine, then the second he turn his back after that.
I don't think we get CN real in our country, and our Cartoon Network seemingly only shows Adventure Time and Regular Show :) Which i'm not gonna complain about xD
@@kennethbill6013 Yeah you're right. The Everglades in Florida is the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles live together in the wild.
Hanna must've really liked ducks, Yakky Doodle, Little Quacker and now Hard Luck Duck, not that I'm complaining I really like this short, plus nice inversion of the trope seen in these cartoons,The predator is the protector of the prey, ironic when gators eat ducks. Hanna you crafty devil.
You know, I kind of get that in a lot of ways, Hard Luck Duck is basically Yakky Doodle, but I kind of think he's better... Mostly I guess I like him cause of the whole Bayou seting.
I'm not surprsied about people comparing this to Yakky Doodle, it draws very heavily from the Yakky Doodle episode "Full Course Meal" Instead of the alligator being good though, he was the one who wanted to cook Yakky. And was based off Alfred Hitchcock...
I miss this so much. Cartoonnetwork was really something to watch in the 90s. Now it's full of wierd stuff that's perverted, freaky, and crazy....children today has no idea what funny cartoons really are.
at first i thought the gator was just gonna be relaxed throughout the whole thing while Hard Luck somehow outsmarted the fox himself, but nope. The gator *actually* encountered that fox and whooped his - 😂These days, they don’t write stuff like they used to 😔 EDIT: and by “relaxed” i mean the gator remaining unaware the whole time. Glad the writers didn’t take that approach, ‘cause I’ve seen that formula used in other storytelling/comedies before and honestly it infuriates me 😓

I know, so sad it didn't get at least thirty eps.
Me too and when I mentioned it to people they looked at me like I was mad lol
Same, that detail was magical to me as a child
I know right I don't know how they did it
I love this, sweet duck protected by big ol Crocodile.
Adam Costello it sets in the swamps of Louisiana so he's actually an alligator.
@@okamijubei Yeah you're right it is in Louisiana. Alligators and crocodiles only meet in the wild in Florida.
Takes me back to the good old days (i.e. 1998).
RIP William Hanna and Joseph Barbera!

And Russi Taylor, voice of Hard Luck Duck.
Her too! 🙁
They were both in there 90s I was still a kid I was born in the 90s
Good Ol' Brad Garrett
1 of the very last things William Hanna ever created... how I miss him & Joe!
Even without seeing his name as director, you can tell this is Bill Hanna's work. Love it!
Yes indeed!
Gosh I remember watching this as a kid! I really love it and still do. You don't see many sweet and protective cartoon gators. I would have loved seeing more of this series. ♥️
Aww nuts I just realized poor Hardluck never got to eat breakfast, just went to bed hungry. I feel you little man, happened to me many times 😥
Fun fact: Russi Taylor voiced Hard Luck Duck.
Who voices martin prince on Simpson too
RIP Russi Taylor

this was one of the best ones! this needs to come to DVD!
Bluray or ur gay
I haven't forgotten this little short. Not even after 14 years. Good times.
You and me both.
Crazy as this may sound, this still seems pretty modern to me in some way. No words can describe it really.
That Fox didn’t know when to quit and find meals outside of eating ducklings.
I used to watch this on Cartoon Network when I was a kid.
And Harley's voiced by Brad Garrett aka Big Dog from "2 Stupid Dogs" and the fox is Jim Cummings. Won't go through all the voices Jim's done because he's done so many.
Jim Cummings is a legend!
Harley gator is so cute! 🥰
This was my sons favorite cartoon as a toddler. I love this cartoon. Thanks so much for posting. I have been trying to find it!!

Brad Garrett

He Did The Crocodile!
Yep! The late, great Russi Taylor! Recognized it as soon as I heard it! DuckTale (1987) was one of my childhood cartoons! And of COURSE, the Cajun Fox is the INCREDIBLE Jim Cummings!
The voice of Ned's father on Nightmare Ned & Boss Beaver on Timon & Pumbaa
Hard Luck Duck 🦆 is aired April 16th,1995!
This was William Hanna's final cartoon in his lifetime before his passing on March 2001.
I would LOVE to find out how these two met! That Alligator is practicly the duck's big brother! :D
Harley is the dad Hardluck never knew he wanted.
Legend has it… Hard Luck is still hungry
That duck and gator friendship is similar to Bill and Aldo in Sitting Ducks
William hanna is best of created and written and directed all time and William hanna is the living legend best the living legend the goats all time and i really am growing up watch what a cartoon on cartoon network all time jim Cummings and Brad Garrett and russi Taylor all 3 voice is my favorite all time

You're correct, it's the same voice actor. The late Russi Taylor!
I miss all the cartoons on the what a cartoon show they was all good I wish hard luck duck could become a full season series
Why? William Hanna passed away! There's no way this short would be on tv series.
My Thoughts Exactly
too bad that'll never happen
I wonder how funny this would still be if a human chef who owns the Cajun Cafe (still voiced by Jim Cummings) tried to put Hard Luck Duck on his menu and Harley thwarts his efforts.
That would be neat.
Omg! I haven't seen what a cartoon for ages! I used to love this when I was little xx
R.I.P Russi Taylor.
Also, R.I.P. to Willam Hanna, too.
That fox was just asking for trouble.
Yes, he was.
He had no idea
Dude.. I accidently came across this and totally forgot about this!
Hanna and Barbera must be rolling over in their graves after that new Velma series started.
They would be pissed & mad @ the voice of Disgust from Inside Out for that!
aww I loved this show! I miss my childhood!
lol Jim Cummings got to voice a cajun fox AND a cajun firefly. xD
yea i soo loved this one and i havent seen it for 14 whole years!!! oh memories:D
This should have been a full series back then.. it was cute
Yakky Doodle was also based off Quacker from Tom & Jerry.
Speaking of yakky doddle does that croc remind you of chopper the bulldog ? Especially when he told him to cover your eyes you don't want to see this lol
Quaker was proto yakky.
Aww hard luck is so cute
Russi Taylor also currently voices Minnie Mouse.
Jimmy Campbell not anymore sadly since she passed away recently. She also uses her Huey, Dewey and Louie voice for Hard Luck
That duck sound like dewey, Louie and Huey
Same VA.
I remeber these cartoons :)
Sigh good old times!!
This is the most “Disney oriented” cartoon Cartoon Network has ever made.
This should have gotten a spin-off series
Wow It's been so longgg! These are all epic and I remember every single one of these shorts from watching them as a kid.
last time i saw this was at least 10 years ago. Thank you for uploading, this is amazing!!!
i think Jim Cummings is the new Mel Blanc
I would have to agree with you!
He is a legend!
My only problem is harley's reaction which he shouldn't of scolded hardluck for. Literally he put hardluck in danger with the old duck disguise routine, then the second he turn his back after that.
Been trying to remember this for years!
Brad is also Robert Barone on "Everybody Loves Raymond."
I wonder if Hard Luck was seperated from his mother as an egg which was why Harley adopted him?
FNAF security breach is so a revamp of this lol
R.I.P. Russi Taylor
5:54-6:00 I don't mean to complain but this is not the Disney version of Peter Pan. :D
That one would of make a great cartoon cartoon series for Cartoon Network.
Yeah but it didn't.
That duck reminds me of Yackee Doodle.(another hanna-barbraa classic).
Same
90's!
I don't think we get CN real in our country, and our Cartoon Network seemingly only shows Adventure Time and Regular Show :) Which i'm not gonna complain about xD
The crocodile has a empty head where the duck is sleeping
He is a Louisiana Alligator. The swamps and cajun fox are dead giveaways
@@kennethbill6013 Yeah you're right. The Everglades in Florida is the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles live together in the wild.
Little Quacker, Yakky-Doodle, Hard Luck
So he never got anything to eat for the entire day...
the alligator has the same voice actor as big dog in 2 stupid dogs(Bred Garrett?)
Butch Hartman made good character designs.
Harley the Gator is Brad Garrett! 👏🏼👏🏼
AHHHH WHAT IS THIS FEELING I'M OVERCOME WITH. IS THIS THE FAMED...NOSTALGIA????
Jimmy Weldon, the authentic voice of Yakky Doodle, probably would've suited Hard Luck much better, don't you think?
brings back memories...
this was around the time when cartoon network were in a dead spot for ideas so they replicated some of the original masterpieces
harley does well the fatherhood role
Hanna must've really liked ducks, Yakky Doodle, Little Quacker and now Hard Luck Duck, not that I'm complaining I really like this short, plus nice inversion of the trope seen in these cartoons,The predator is the protector of the prey, ironic when gators eat ducks. Hanna you crafty devil.
You better watch your last sentence. Don't say negative things to Hanna.
Who would sleep in an alligator?
REST IN PEACE, RUSSI TAYLOR!!!!!!
Hey, I remember this one. :) It's been a long while since I've seen it~
A good old William Hanna cartoon.
They Should've Make A T.V. Show About A Sweet Duck Protected By An Alligator
Chief Fox Just Got Himself His Never Eat A Duckling
Don't know why but I thought about this cartoon a few days ago and had to look it up on here.
Remember those days at grandmas house 🥲🥹
You know, I kind of get that in a lot of ways, Hard Luck Duck is basically Yakky Doodle, but I kind of think he's better... Mostly I guess I like him cause of the whole Bayou seting.
Who can't remember this cartoon!.
omg i remember this! gd memories :D
a theme park on halloween does sound like fun :)
It's a shame William Hanna and Joseph Barbera made 2 shorts for What a cartoon each
im amazed Will Hanna was still putting stuff out this late in the game.
I remember this one...
Did U know Brad Garrett was one of Davidson's Hollywood Squares?
Oh my childhood
You pushed me too far Fox!
I'm not surprsied about people comparing this to Yakky Doodle, it draws very heavily from the Yakky Doodle episode "Full Course Meal"
Instead of the alligator being good though, he was the one who wanted to cook Yakky. And was based off Alfred Hitchcock...
omg nostalgia

That's why the fox here reminds me Don Karnage!
3:15 lol
I love the motley crue song reference.

Why does he live in an alligator's brain?
