Finally getting to sit down and watch this, I'm so glad y'all finally made it here to my favorite region and I cannot wait until that retrospective of Sun and Moon😁. Like Soul this was my true resergence to Pokemon, I was in history class when it was announced and man I was just over the moon (pun intended) with everything. The music, the art style, the designs of characters. I was really glad they made our character fully scaled too, I like X and Y but I didn't like the awkward model of our character. It's like this weird blend of a chibi and scaled model and it just kept throwing me off lol. I always have to sit down and play Moon every once in a while just to try and immerse myself in the game again. This generation is so important to me because it made me realize my passion for Pokemon again, something I hadn't felt since I played Platinum when I got it for christmas as a kid one year. Gens 5 and 6 were no doubt great in their own right, but I just didn't quite love them as much as gen 4. So Sun and Moon really shook my world, Solgaleo and Lunala are such amazing designs too. I mean the whole space theme is just an awesome theme to go with and the invasive species idea with ultra beasts was really clever as well. I really wish these games somehow carried over to the Switch when it came out😂. Also when Dusty referenced Scream, all I could think about was Soul calling Dusty and him saying "So what's your favorite gen 7 Pokemon" with ghost face voice changer😭🤣
While Rowlet is my favorite of the base starters (before and after the final stage reveals), I still love Litten and will defend Popplio. Seriously, there were cults formed in defense of Popplio since people DESPISED the clown nose and called it, and I quote Polygon, “a shitty, nominal derivative of Piplup, who is the most adorable thing to grace the planet.” That was so uncalled for, especially when the whole trio is based off circus acts. Decidueye - the archer, Incineroar - the tiger jumping through the fire ring, and Primarina - the seal balancing a ball on its nose, and it being bubbles for Popplio is adorable.
I think this was the most passionate and animated Soul was in any of these tier lists and I am here for it. That said even though midnight lycanroc is one of the most recognizable sun/moon mons I think it’s super overrated.
I truly do not understand the appeal of Araquanid. It’s truly is ugly and competitively cheap lol. I prefer Golisopod. Better design, much more fun to play with when you’re good at pivoting and counteracting it’s ability.
I guess Dusty had never seen a barn owl, decidueye hoodie is based on the same face disc some owl species have. Yeah decidueye takes it to the next level but i think it looks badass.
Gen 7 has always been on the lower side for me. I think it has some of the most creative designs in the series, but the execution on many just doesn't hit. The dex is very ambitious in a lot of ways, and I give it credit for that. Unfortunately, it only has a few that I'd consider S tier. One of the few S tiers from this gen, though, is my favorite pokemon, which you heartless monsters placed into D. >:( I can't believe this Mareanie slander, and I will never forgive this. Turning off Notifs, Disliked, Unsubbed. Lmao, fr though I'm glad ypu put The Pex in A at least. Mareanie is mine, and I understand that I just have more refined tastes, hehe. That whole lineup from Mareanie to Araquanid is my favorite for this gen, as most of the rest outside of Mimikyu just doesn't even come close to touching S tier.
Honestly, 90% of these are D-F tier Pokemon to me. Gen 7 and 8 have my least favorite rosters. I can mention 3 Pokemon lines I like this region and only kinda. Litten line, Jangmo-o line except Kommo-o and Passimian who is my favorite. Other than that I am good.
I mean yeah, all three starters from this region are just as anthropomorphised as the others it’s just more noticeable in incineroar and premarina because they Lean more masculine and feminine, respectively, where as ducidueye just text, General human attributes, not leaning towards a specific gender

Plus Incinaroar isn't an original concept it's a homage to the wrestler tiger mask, who had a manga and anime. I say this as a wrestling fan, i hate Incinaroar. I'm sorry but toucannon is S tier it's peak OG design style. As a Gumshoos fan, i disagree with you completely, i think the trump thing really hurt its popularity, i'm not a american so i don't see the link or have feelings either way, so i like it, it's a simple design, it's a detective style pokemon which fits into the fact it was brought in to hunt alolan ratticate. Plus there is nothing wrong with normal type, it's my favourite type. I like simple more realistic designs which have a small twist to them.
Litten can't be called the best cat Pkmn when Mewtwo exists. It was plainly killing me inside how long it took to get to Decidueye (49 min mark) & all that anticipation for it to not even be ranked S tier is crushing (Dusty... WHY?) As a comparison y'all were at Talonflame in Gen6's ranking. Regarding Pikipek & it's a side tangent entirely, but have you guys seen the image where someone complains that modern Pkmn designs lean towards having more cartoony attributes & fewer in-depth design features, & Pipipek is a prime culprit for that philosophy in their eyes. I do agree with them on the artstyle thing & to prove their point further, they switched artstyles between Gen1 & newer Pkmn. The results are not pretty, however. No disrespect to whoever's art it is, but they look terrible. Crabrawler seems more like it's from Dragon Quest. Pipipek & Zorua don't look like monsters to me. If I saw them in, say, an encyclopedia, I wouldn't think they're from some media franchise like Pokémon & would just see them as drawings of regular plain animals. Vulpix & Pidgey are way too smoothed out, as if the artist really wants to convince you that the current artstyle is wholly worse & holding back the recent designs. They're bad demonstrations that push their mindset onto others, at least I think so anyway.
I think I've commented this before, but once all generations have been ranked, you guys have all the S ranked Pokemon placed randomly in a tournament style bracket and let the Discord/socials vote. And unveil it during the ultimate ranking video of all S's... who is/are the S of the S's? (limit 1 S to each of you maybe?)
Fun fact re human attributes. In the books in original green and red mansion it discusses a point where humans and pokemon were indistinguishable from each other and interred. At some point humans elevated themselves above the rest.
I like their designs, but most of the mons from this gen were never very strong, unfortunately. If it isn't a Tapu or an Ultra Beast, chances are it's at best a Low Tier Warrior.

Gen 7 was probably the game I messed with the most. By that, I mean I did minor editing and modding where I would make any pokemon be able to use signature z moves of any pokemon (like a big pokemon trying to use Ash Pikachu's z move is always hilarious or a bidoof using Light that Burns the Sky lol) so I have a lot of love for the games. I'm also one of minority that preferred Z moves to megas. Sure old pokemon new forms stat buffs is cool and all but regional variants are just better and z moves can be used by any Mon. Also status Z moves added so much diversity and fun factor to the games I was hooked. Z mirror move, Z me first we so chaotic. But the pokemon themselves tho? I liked all the legendaries, mythical and ultra beasts but that's about it? Didn't really care for most of the gen 7 dex apart from rowlet line, kommo-o, rimbombee, dhelmise and Alolan forms. I like a lot of gen 7 mons now but back when it was current gen, I didn't really care for them that much.
With Gen 7 being the first gen I played and Sun being the first Pokemon game I owned, I have a bias to Alola. Bruxish, Crabominable, Gumshoos, Alolan Meowth, Persian, Diglett, and Dugtrio are my least favorites, and everyone else ranges from fine to amazing to me.
I LOVE in the Sun and Moon games how Lillie is dressed like Nihilego because Lusamine was obsessed with it! Also the fact that Guzma dresses like Xurkitree because he wants to impress Lusamine. REALLY cool character details in those games!
Sun and Moon was the first and last time they did the reveals the way they did it. They revealed almost the whole Pokedex in trailers and the only one they didn't reveal was Alolan Geodude's line.
The Star on Primarina isn't a new Pokemon, its a Star Piece (The Item). At the time, Yungoos was from a region we haven't seen before. However, that doesn't mean its an India region, as Mongoose are also native to the Iberian Peninsula and Yungoos can be found in Paldea either, where it doesn't need to be pest control either, due to the lack of Rattata.
I love the fact we get the concept art for all the alolan pokemon. We get to see way more of their personality and traits.

Gen 7 was probably the game I messed with the most. By that, I mean I did minor editing and modding where I would make any pokemon be able to use signature z moves of any pokemon (like a big pokemon trying to use Ash Pikachu's z move is always hilarious or a bidoof using Light that Burns the Sky lol) so I have a lot of love for the games. I'm also one of minority that preferred Z moves to megas. Sure old pokemon new forms stat buffs is cool and all but regional variants are just better and z moves can be used by any Mon. Also status Z moves added so much diversity and fun factor to the games I was hooked. Z mirror move, Z me first we so chaotic.
But the pokemon themselves tho? I liked all the legendaries, mythical and ultra beasts but that's about it? Didn't really care for most of the gen 7 dex apart from rowlet line, kommo-o, rimbombee, dhelmise and Alolan forms. I like a lot of gen 7 mons now but back when it was current gen, I didn't really care for them that much.

With Gen 7 being the first gen I played and Sun being the first Pokemon game I owned, I have a bias to Alola.
Bruxish, Crabominable, Gumshoos, Alolan Meowth, Persian, Diglett, and Dugtrio are my least favorites, and everyone else ranges from fine to amazing to me.
I LOVE in the Sun and Moon games how Lillie is dressed like Nihilego because Lusamine was obsessed with it! Also the fact that Guzma dresses like Xurkitree because he wants to impress Lusamine. REALLY cool character details in those games!
Sun and Moon was the first and last time they did the reveals the way they did it. They revealed almost the whole Pokedex in trailers and the only one they didn't reveal was Alolan Geodude's line.
