ARCHIMEDES' PRINCIPLE or LAW of FLOATATION and BUOYANT FORCE | in HINDI

  • In this Physics video lecture for class 11 we explained Archimedes' principle known as law of floatation and buoyant force or force of buoyancy. We also derived the equation for floating bodies. During the derivation of the formula we found that the apparent weight for a submerged object in a fluid is the product of the volume of the object, the acceleration due to gravity and the difference in the densities of the object and the fluid.
Archimedes’ principle : It states that any body completely or partially submerged in a fluid (gas or liquid) at rest is acted upon by an upward, or buoyant, force the magnitude of which is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the body.

The reading of a digital balance is 500g when a beaker partially filled with water is placed on it. A piece of iron sinks completely when dropped in that beaker and no water spills out. Now the reading becomes 600g. The piece of iron is now taken out, tied to a string, and the hanging piece is completely immersed in water in the beaker without touching any wall or the bottom of the beaker, while the other end of the string is held by hand. The reading in the balance is expected to be
