So many childhood memories from this video. Jamaica cocoa industry is probably no more, but its thriving in the motherland. We continue to hope and pray for better financial gains for these farmers. It's hard work.
Facts: many of cacao farmers can't even afford to buy chocolate. The raw mats buy by the traders cheap and sell very expensive as a finished product. In the Philippines, cacao farmers are trained and assist by the govt to process it. So the cacao farmers process, sell and earn from their farm. Hope, qfrica will do the same
We used to have cocoa trees back then and this video made me remember those memories. I know when to harvest it once the fruit matures and I also learned how to make cocoa powder😍 I missed it😭
For me, it makes me appreciate the rest of the world. In addition to this video, I've seen how cashews are made and other products that many would never think twice on how they wind up in packages on the shelves at our stores. And everyone of these videos have people who are unspoiled, by modern luxuries. These people are the true definition of "If your don't work, you don't eat".
These farmers who hand pick all of these pods need to be paid what rich fat CEOs get paid here in the US. They are the ones who work and they work without complaining. Much respect to these farmers and their families.

Me and a couple of friends, back in the 70s. Had $5.000, we rented a condemned wearhouse in Ohio. We bought 5 banana trees, spliced the 5 trees into 50.000 splice, put the small sliver in plastic samwitch bags. Propped the small bags up with Popsicle sticks. That we could afford. Long story short. Our 50.000 splices became 48.000 4 foot tall banana trees. Costa Rica, gave up a slot of land from the golf up and over. And near free labor. One by one we flou our bundles of trees to coast Rica. Planted 48.000 banana trees..... And Founded DOLE BANANAS, THE millions we made, we reinvested. We bought 5.000.000 million square acres, in south America, central America, and Mexico. We then, planted every fruit tree on earth. Millions of them. The orange juice, we had millions of gallons. We froze it into constraight, then ship it for free to third world country's... To stop the world pandemic of scarvey in children who had no way to get ( vitamin C, ).... The farms, we founded are the largest in the world. And are world wide. I'm the man who in 1975, open new York stock exchange called the commodity board. I feed all of Germany for free, all of France for free, Poland, Russia, 400 million in China, Japan, many more...I also had 40.000 square miles state side planted in every grain on earth.. owned, Betty crocker, Duncan Hines, general mills, and much more... Most of my billions,. I gave to the vadican. To mother treasa, funded retirement checks for every nun on earth. I remember watching a series and it was either late 80s or the early 90s and the amazing thing about the series it took you through the steps of an Englishman starting up a chocolate making business. He managed to source old molds and machinery and his trial and often errors with different flavours but the most bit was him going to wherever he had to go in order to be as ethical as he could. Maybe someone out there could maybe source the information to help me because I'm a complete numpty when it comes to getting information from the internet, any information will be gratefully received.

I hope they can feed their families well for all their hard work.
well we can just hope and in the meantime middle man make most of the money, that's sad reality of the world.
Yes, sad they have to work and toil to satisfy the demands of rich people!
Doesn't look harder than other farming.. it's just farming. I heard they only work hours a day, it's nothing
