This is no longer "months later", this is "almost a year later"
I just built a pc, and tested it with dead space. Frame drops and stuttering. I'm thinking something is wrong with my RAM.
How have EA still not fixed this?
@@poopoppy I wonder too🤔 EA Should be cancelled!
And it's still fucking broken.
Places like steam should make it a requirement to get rid of this stutter
it is the goddamn Denuvo man and steam has no choice but to accept it if they want the said publisher to sell the game on their Steam platform.
Game companies these days have become so lazy and greedy beyond belief and they would rather spend 30% of the budget for a crappy DRM like denuvo and 40-50% for marketing and only actually spend a small amount of time working on the actual product which is the game itself. The fact that people still but up with this anti-consumer practice is beyond me...
@@mr.savage778jesus. Calm down
@@gavinderulo12 people like who are not bothered are the exact reason why companies like EA can get away with the same scummy anti-consumer practices again and again
The moment people will decide to stand up and refuse to take the abuse, that is the moment these companies will have to change their ways and actually do right by their customers until then we will leave the mindless sheep to keep following them.
actually, it isn't denuvo since a cracker that crack denuvo and removed it said on a tweet the game still stutters even without the DRM. the issue is the poor DX12 implementation @@mr.savage778
@@mr.savage778 yea cracked version dead space remake proabably work ok but with calsito they not cracked. even newer game residen evil 4 remake cracked.
How can you develop a peace of art - a videogame, especially a remake, with all your passion, , blood, sweat and tears and release it like that?! And how on earth can you drop it like a hot potato and never fix it? I will never understand...
The people making the art aren't the people optimizing the game, and the people optimizing the game aren't the ones to blame either if a publisher is fine with rushing out a terrible port
Because it didn't sell as well as EA expected... don't count on DS franchise coming back
They did just not for you 😂 pc master race 😂 get treated more like … slaves
@@commentingchannel9776 Who else is optimizing it if not the studio making the game? It wasn't outsourced afaik
its EA they dont give a damn
The fact they have no intention of fixing this is the worse part. Same with other PC ports with noticeable stutters.
I suspect that it's Denuvo, or some form of it from EA.
@@tanos857I suspect its an underlying engine issue that isn't as easy to fix by the game devs.
@@tanos857 why don't you use a cracked exe and test that yourself? It's been cracked

Thank you for still talking about this!
Playing on the performance mode on ps5 after playing this on the pc was fucking transformative. The graphics/resolution and performance being better then my rig aside, the lack of large stutters really improved my enjoyment of the game
But i shouldn't need to go buy the game somewhere else to not have issues
Why are PC games given such shithouse treatment these days?!
Stutter Space
The game still sits at "Very Positive" and this issue is seldom mentioned. It's crazy to me how ignored this is. It totally ruins my enjoyment of the game, I refuse to beat it at this point.
Yep, this is the reason that they didn’t have any interest in fixing the game, other than being published by EA. It really is crazy how oblivious some are to the stutters and then tell people to upgrade their hardware when people are literally using the best GPU’s and CPU’s out there and they’re still getting the same stutters.
jp
Because the game itself is actually very good, probably sits at the top of remakes the likes of RE4. It's just the technical aspect of streaming assets in and out that causes problems on most pc's, that and EA dropping support by shifting the devs resources to a new project. It's really unfortunate that EA decided to ignore this issue - either that or it's something inherent with the frostbite engine that makes it unsuitable for these kinds of games.
Because most played it on console 😅
I recommended it at launch because I thought it was my gpu.
I'm running it on a 6800xt now and not even 1080p gets rid of the stutter. Callisto Protocol runs like butter at maxed out 1440p because of post launch updates and I average over 100 fps in all the RE games with RT ON. Tellin me I can't get rid of stutter after waiting a year to replay this game and upgrading to a 16 gb gpu and it can't even play smooth at 1080p
The launch of CP was really bad, I was there for it but that game runs great rn and has the best screen space reflections period. Its otherwise a mid game but at this point I'd rather play that because at least the devs listened to feedback and fixed the stutter. Now the combat actually works even though its mid.
Dead Space isn't a mid game I hate to see the developers decide that a couple weeks of troubleshooting isn't worth fixing a clearly broken game.
How are gamers and the media still not classing this as a faulty product. And why are companies allowing these games to launch. It's clear they're broken. Just like any other product 🙄
I read comments and so many people still play a game with stutter. And make out it's normal. And then i realised the problem of why these things never get fixed. Imagine if i could sell faulty products and the customer never returns for a refund, media outlets never highlight the faults, influencers just laugh it off, and money just keeps coming in
And so it will continue with all of these games that insult PC's. I didn't even bother with Dead Space remake. I knew these problems would crop up and tarnish my own experience with the trilogy. So i wasn't even going to waste my time with it. This thing about PC games and stuttering is becoming pathetic. I experience it in so many games when it doesn't make sense. And then other games seem flawless
I will always blame the devs and whoever has to test before it goes through quality control and after. It happens so much. I now wait to see if a game has issues BEFORE i spend my money. And that's on every game. It's my money that's important to them...
I will *NEVER* play a game with stutter like that. It makes me absolutely insane. I can put up with a fair amount of stuff but stutter takes me out of a game immediately every time. Resident Evil games can be bad about it too, in my experience. I have to cap the framerate and underutilize my GPU and VRAM or it’s stutter city in RE4R
Gamers have the lowest standards of any consumer group. I'd expound on why that is but we're all gamers here, and we're all active online, so let's be real... we all know why lol.
It legally falls on the retailer to enforce quality assurance for products sold.
Like steam origin gog epic to pursue the publisher and take legal action if necessary.
Like Sony store with delisting Cyberpunk.
Yeah i think those times where most games are finished at all (not even talking about release) are over. People still pay, most people don't even notice and start to even insult you that you should go to the doctor and the games are fine "on their pcs", while you sit infront of your 2500€ pc with the newest stuff on it and know how to run shit properly and clean.
Media isn't also talking about it much. We can consider being lucky if Digital Foundry points it out in their videos AT ALL, but that happens maybe once and the games are still being recommended nontheless. I wish it would be like this "hey, before we're talking about the game itself, it runs like crap... so yeah don't even consider buying it". See what Star Wars Jedi Surivor has become.... i would love to play it, but it's unplayable. Doesn't matter if High end PC or PS5, both run horrible.
Well they lost a sale in my case. I bought it just days after it's release but the stuttering issues where so bad at the times, that I simply got a refund from Steam. It's a shame, as the short bit that I played was pretty good other than the terrible stuttering. I had all intensions to repurchase the game later on when all the issues where patched and fixed. However the game was simply never fixed, so I never repurchased it and likely never will, now.
It's their loss at the end of the day. If they can't be bothered to fix their broken game, then they aren't getting any of my well earned money.
My advice to anyone on PC, is if a game is broken but is otherwise good, simply get a refund straight away and then wait and see if it ever get fixed. Stop putting up with this BS. Why stick it out with a broken game if there's a very good chance that it'll never be fixed. Simply get a refund, wait it out and then see if it gets fixed. If so then rebuy it and if not, then just like me shrug it off and move on. There's plenty of other games that are worth investing in, after all. It's the only way that these 'hit n' run" companies will ever learn.
Thank You DF Team for making another video to point out what a slap in the face this port was to true fans of the series! incase anyone at EA reads this, just know you've missed out on 3 full price sales of this game between me and my 2 closest friends because of the game breaking stutter and I suspect many others are holding off buying for the same reason. AND TO ANYONE ELSE DISSATISFIED AS ME. VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET. DON"T BUY THIS PEICE OF GARBABGE UNTILL EA FIXES IT!
Oh shush. It’s still amazing and worthwhile gameplay compared to the most of mediocre video games nowadays.
Still have it on my wishlist, but I'll be removing it later this evening.
@@tavizcha But we do have the original that runs really well and has the same gameplay.
@@tavizcha You talking about the original or... because I'd agree if you were talking about the original.
Ran absolutely flawless on console...so much for a PC master race huh? 💯 Console kings
I was surprised none of the reviews weren’t really talking about it when the game came out. The game was literally unplayable because of the stuttering.
most of the reviews are bought bias ones since not many people want to lose their sponsors and source of money. others choose to ignore it so they wont be the black sheep.
Probably because no one really cares about PC. Consoles is where it's at and will always be
Most buyers are NPC bots that are oblivious to any stuttering in PC games, they don't know what it is and some say it doesn't happen to them and will try to gaslight other users into saying that's their computer, despite videos like this.
I tested Dead Space with a new pc build. I thought my RAM was defective.
Most gamers are clinically dead, have the cognitive ability of bread. They don't notice stutters or think they blinked, and have the strongest opinion about how they never have issues as their system is "rock solid". IQ sub 85 for sure.
EA need to get their shit together man
I downloaded the game yesterday, and first I thought it was my laptop (rtx 4060). Thank God I saw this video 😅. Sadly this issue still persist.
We’re basically renting $70.- beta versions at this point. And games can be removed or blocked from services on a whim. For instance, I’m not allowed to redownload my PSN-purchases of “Burnout Paradise” and “Bionic Commando Rearmed” on PS3. Arrr, shiver me timbers ;)
Yarr... I'd be sailing the high seas too.
Bought Dead Space on the current sale and was so excited to play one of my favorite horror games of all times only to realize a couple minutes in that it still stutters on a high end PC. Heartbreaking, but at least Steam refunds are easy.
Man how do you drop the ball this bad?
same, exept i dont have a high end pc.
Bought it, played most of the first chapter with many issues (not just stutters, even bugs, like having to restart the game because the controls stop working), and when i was about to reach the end of the chapter, i got actual heavy lag for no reason like enter a small room and get 16 fps. Like the game was warning me to refund NOW.
Abandoned by EA once again, Dead space has to be one of the most abused IP of all time
Glad I read the comments before buying the game. Saw 60% off on steam. Guess I wait till its free lol

the game was abandoned by the first or second month, and these developers are supposed to keep doing the remakes, so I'm really sad they just don't care at all about the port
Don't blame Motive. Blame EA. EA forced Motive to abandon the game and move on. Remember, dev studios have no real power. It's the publisher calling all the shots.
Resident Evil is always popular with many people, but Deadspace doesn't seem to be.. I don't think Dead Space episode 2 will come out

6 months have passed, and the stuttering still hasn't been fixed
Do the major reviewers even mention the technical issues these days? How can a game in this pathetic state get a 10/10 score?
People still give it positive reviews. It's unplayable and people are too ignorant to notice or care. It's truly depressing, the state of games.
It's not unplayable, clowns like you are just beyond help. It has some issues sure. But it's not redfall at launch by any means though. Redfall ran like horse crap when it came out. Lets not even talk about unspoken on pc and ps5. That is a real broken game.
Just returned it, and kinda sad I liked the game but the stuttering was just too frequent and noticeable
I reinstalled Dead Space last night, and yeah, stuttering mess. Turned on matrix overlay, and microstuter stayed at 12% or higher traversing. When the action heats up and you're by a corridor, it will hitch when you enter. Flat-out pause for a second or 2 walking into larger rooms and enemies spawning behind you for a jump scare. I became used to it a few months back, but coming back and playing now flat-out annoyed me.
Rig, AMD 5900X. AMD RX 7900XT, 32 GBs of ram at 3600, and WD Black SN850 2 TB drive.
Wow. Even on top of the line specs. This is ridiculous
@mindrover777 Unfortunately, this has become the state of gaming. You buy a game like Dead Space or Cyberpunk. Due to technical issues, the game is almost unplayable. You wait six months for patches or in the case of Cyberpunk two years before it's playable. Maybe after this video, EA might commission a small team to go back and fix the microstutering. Besides the stuttering, there's still graphical issues that look low resolution, like specular highlights at extreme angles and what appears to be Z sorting issues from time to time with shadows. Anywho, uninstalled last night, I have other stuff to play, might go back to Dead Space in a few months when I'm bored.

@@daffakhairy3346 Yeah, if you have Gamepass, it's on there as well if you want give it a spin. I did try the Gamepass version recently, same problem.
The Dead Space remake was the 'burnt bridge' between myself and EA. I hadn't bought one of their games for nearly a decade. When they announced the Dead Space remake, I foolishly believed "Looks like EA might actually be trying to change their ways". So I gave them one last chance. But unfortunately, I was wrong. EA did what EA always does. Two small post-release patches that really didn't do much and then the game was abandoned entirely when it's still full of performance issues and bugs.
The game itself is fantastic of course. I did my best to ignore the bugs, glitches, and constant stutters. And after a while, I adjusted to them and they weren't really distracting me anymore. I give credit to Motive for doing such a fantastic job creating the game. But EA deserves all the criticism in the world for forcing Motive to abandon the game and move on to other projects so soon after release.
Anyways, I learned my lesson. No more EA games for me ever again. Good job, EA!

for those who see this and want minimum stuttering it seems the only work around on PC is to use dxvk. It is alot better using this vs the standard dx 12. It sucks you have to do this but this right now seems to be the most consistent way to reduce it
In the video description the link of "Watch the FULL video here:" doesnt work. It says "video not available"
I got it on the Steam sale the other day and going to check it out today. Also picked up the Calistol Protocol.
how is your review with the stuttering?
I haven't experienced any stutters so far, but it could be related to my system. I disabled C-states in the BIOS, turned off the High Precision Event Timer in Windows, and performed debloating using the Bloatynosy app with checkboxes. Additionally, I utilized the Bloatpilot option inside the app, checking the "most hated" items.
After implementing these changes, my Windows 11 system now runs games that would typically stutter flawlessly, and high polling rates on mice remain stable. One peculiar observation is that initially, I didn't use the Bloatpilot option in Bloatynosy, causing issues with launching MWII and III. However, once I enabled Bloatpilot, the games launched immediately.
This leads me to believe that a seemingly unnecessary Windows program might be causing significant issues, but it has now been removed. @@ravisingh9953

I really thought this game was it untill I tried it, glad it was on game pass tho saved me some bucks, i couldn't ignore the frustration of playing this game like the steam views did.
Callisto protocol work better without denuvo..
I read from a Steam post. which only works on the Steam version apparently because i tried this n the EA Play version and it crashes if you use vkd3d-proton and dxvk-async the traversal stutters are almost nonexistent after the shaders are compiled.
Apparently using VKD3D/DXVK helps a ton for the stuttering issue. Just haven’t seen enough content on it to give it a shot cause idk how to mod the files properly.
You almost always just literally delete the d3d11/12 DLL file and replace it with the DXVK.dll in each specific games folder, did it a lot on Linux and it helps a lot with Borderlands 2, only way to get that game at a high refresh rate in my experience (on an all AMD system maybe borderlands doesn’t like that)
Also- idk about VKD3D but with DXVK you get some absolutely disgusting shader compilation and hanging for the first few minutes so just hang in there. It should improve some games if you’re having a lot of issues , but yeah it’s hit or miss especially depending on your rig
@@opticalsalt2306 what if u run the game as DX12, compile the shaders (a game like dead space compiles its shaders in a seperate folder for some reason than the normal cache). Technically all shaders r compiled already then u convert to vulkan after? VKD3D as far as Ik is just DXVK for DX12 games whiles DX11 games use DXVK.
DirectX and Vulkan use totally different shaders, so you will have to compile new Vulkan shaders regardless if using DXVK.
@@stealthhunter6998 Yeah, what Orion said

The final cutscene for me was genuinely more stutter than not. I have a 13900k and a 6900 XT, and I did a complete shader compilation before getting to that point. It's like no one tested it before shipping.
did they fix the map so we can place waypoints anywhere yet?
I just played through this recently on PC Game Pass, enjoyed it and beat it, but the stuttering was awful. I was stunned to look on Steam and see all the positive reviews and only a few talking about it. Played on a 3070 / 5600X and no matter what I did with the settings it still had the same result. Too bad because otherwise the game is stunning to look at.
When i played, also had lot stuttering, from 7900xt/5800x3d.
@@watterson777 yeah,it is due to the goddamn Denuvo DRM and their shit implementation of it in the game.
You could try running this at 720p with a 4090 and cap the FPS while using an i9 14900k and gen 5 SSD and it will still stutter.
This port has been abandoned by EA and is a lost cause at this point.
No more fixes coming in the near future.
You will have to wait 2-3 more years until Denuvo is removed and hopefully that will be enough to fix some of the current issues because it is sure as hell that EA will not make any special effort to fix this port. If they wanted to do so, they would have done it by now.
It really is concerning how some people are oblivious to the stuttering and tell people that their hardware just isn’t good enough. 4090/7800X3D, first playthrough had tons of stuttering but I pushed through it.
Started second playthrough recently and nothing has changed. Wanted to test HDR on my new monitor which was completely washed out. Had to do HDR through Special K to get actual working HDR.
The game is also prone to crashing with an undervolt/tweaks from afterburner for example which I didn’t notice on the first playthrough because I was using stock settings.
Has nothing to do with DRM@@mr.savage778
Had no idea this was on PC Game Pass. I just bought it on sale earlier on PS5. Oh well, when I saw that it made Alex's list for one of the worst PC ports of 2023 I decided to to get it on console.
2:17 I don't think it comes down to the new engine modifications, as i've played the game con Xbox SX aswell and there is no issue down there , in performance mode that is.
I believe the pc version struggles because of the Denuvo AntiTamper DRM being active all the time, on top of the frostbite engine which is already quite demanding on the cpus.
I don't understand why they wouldn't mention Denuvo, it's clearly the reason for the stuttering on PC
It's not, they already showed most of the stuttering comes from asset loading, and what they showed aligned exactly with the same spots I noticed the stuttering issue. I'm not sure if Denuvo casues any extra one in this particular game (it's been quite some time since Denuvo caused stutters, it god bad rep but by now it's almost never the real problem) but there is no evidence supporting the Denuvo theory so far@@user-wu1dv6jk5s

Is EA....
Had never played this series for whatever reason and tried the remake version, noticed the stuttering immediately and luckily this issue was well documented and was able to refund and get the original which I love and it plays amazing on Steam Deck.
I'm really enjoying the game but man every now and then a cinematic loads and it becomes chop city, I have to wait until it stabilizes again and sometimes FPS just drops completely and I have to reload the game to fix it...
91% positive ratings on Steam btw
no wonder companies release games in that state, why should they even fix it if almost no one cares?
The original at certain resolutions had really bad screen tearing and that was never fixed and if you put on Vsync you got horrendous mouse lag.
Idk why but my game doesn’t even open anymore and the graphics are not charging everything looks dark. Anyone knows what can i do to fix it?
The same with last of us. I finished today and it plays great now on my rig. Ashame about dead space not getting fixed
Thanks for saving me 24 bucks this holiday season Alex!
It's obviously Denuvo causing the stuttering, why would you not make a main point of that!
Denuvo impacts lower end hardware but on the high end the consistent thing is the traversal stutters, there is simply nothing anyone can do for it.
I got sub 5 FPS during the first time when you first get to the tram, as well as the last boss fight. 60 FPS after. WTF
That's another major issue with the game, memory leaks causing these massive fps drops. Happened many times to me too. It's really a defective product
Never buy games with denuvo no matter how tempting it is. Believe me, you will not die if you skip denuvo titles.
I first played the DS remake with a 3950x/2080s system. I then got a 7900XTX at launch and was sure that would help with the DS stuttering. It didn’t. If anything it got worse because now it was apparent that my 3950x wasn’t fast enough to keep up with the XTX. A month later I got a 7950x3d at launch and was sure that would fix the DS stuttering, bad news again. I’m not saying the stuttering completely ruined the game as I did play through NG+ a few times, but it was the one thing keeping this game from being absolutely perfect.
I loaded up DS yesterday to see if the problem was any better and I swear the stuttering was worse than ever.
playing other games my cpu usually stay around 68c-75c that game made my cpu melt 80-92c and its only game that reached these temps and i played everything new... i had to lock it to 60 frames and that felt really annoying
Bought during winter steam sale. 1st time I’ve defended a game because it will not run in full screen if you have multi GPU setup. Only fix was to disable the GPU not being used every time. No other game I have does this, so it’s a no.
6:50 so relatable haha
I bought the game on Steam like a week ago and the only (very rare) stutter I am seeing are maybe a few dropped frames as a new area is loading in.
@user-lu9vs7cx5s imagine being THAT detached from reality :D Minor stutter when loading into a large new area has been a thing since forever and the tiny minority is the people who are bothered by it. Not the other way around.

Fwiw BFV in dx12 has horrible stutter. Have tested over 2080 Ti, 3090 and 4090 and it always persists. Dx11 is perfectly fine. Frostbite had an issue with stuttering. I wonder if dead space has regressed or used some old branch of frostbite
Question: would a large enough ram-disk solve these stutters? Installed the whole game into ram? And yes I recognize that hedt might be required
DS remake is still just a port of a console game at the end of the the day. I doubt throwing the thing into a giant ram cache would help very much unfortunately. Assets would still have to be streamed into system memory. I would assume technologies like Direct storage from Microsoft/Nvidia would resolve the issue in a similar way as to that which you're proposing but it's still on the devs to implement. The state of PC gaming is terrible atm. I've been showing a lot more love to smaller/indie devs since they seem to engage with their communities more and generally support their games for much longer.
Yeah I saw a fix for a game, when forcing DX11 in Steam launch options, fixed the game stuttering. I can't recall what the game was though.
I just wonder is the stuttering caused by accessing the hard drive/ssd ?
Didn't you watch the video? why are you even asking this question
PS5 version runs like a dream 😍
Yup 🎉
and yet your a pc video bragging about your shitty box
It almost makes me wonder if processes running in the background on PC have something to do with all the stuttering issues on the platform. Or maybe something within the Windows architecture they simply can’t work around. Consoles are designed only to play games with a rudimentary OS which makes me think this is why traversal stutter is easier to fix on the boxes.
I blame Windows and the way it packs/handles things. Even on super tweaked systems, games with these issues still have them, the stutters will be "quicker", but still there regardless.
I'm also pissed that they didn't add Dualsense haptics to PC. PC should be the future proof version.
Even worse is when the game drops to like 10fps at random points! Ridiculous, happened multiple times while playing the final chapter and the final boss tonight for me. Can't believe it's not mentioned more in reviews, nor that they haven't fixed these critical issues!
Has anyone noticed this problem on Series X too?
thanks.

Why doesn’t it stutter on console?
I can see them improving it a few months before release of dead space 2. But that would still be a shame to take so long.
I ran into an unfixable glitch in chapter 8 with the comms relay puzzle. Still hasn’t been patched.
Been debating buying it on sale 3x now and didn't even know about the stutter until a negative review.
Guess I'll go back to the originals.
Can confirm that the game still runs like shit. Crazy that EA is able to get away with this.
I am glad I didn’t grab this since they didn’t fix it. I would keep looking at it too. I loved the original Dead Space as well.
Yep i been having issues with it crashing everytime on PC. I read a reddit post where someone said any nvidia driver above 528.24 crashes for him so i downloaded the 528.24 driver and so far it works without crashing. I find it odd that EA hasn't done anything to fix these issues. I shouldn't have to go all the way down to download a driver to play a game when this game has been out over a year now.
Recently played this on Series X and it’s the only game I’ve played that crashes constantly.
wtf, I always assumed I just got a weaker PC, but it seems the stuttering was happening to others as well...
How is the stutter 16-06-2024? Or should I just play the original games?
If you do buy it i would not recommend playing it on PC. Maybe try it on console and if it does stutter alot then just refund it would be my advice. If you rather play it on PC just be prepared that you will have to probably do a bunch of trouble shootings to get it to work properly. How i personally got it to work for me on PC was downloading a older driver it would still stutter at times but it was atleast playable. But it may work better on the consoles.
What's even more interesting is that the Steam score at the moment hovers around 89%. Which is extremely high. So what's going on? Are most PC gamers blind or do they not care about the technical side of things? Is there even a problem? I'm confused.
EDIT: Another conclusion could be there's a strong variation in tolerance/sensitiveness towards these kinds of issues. So people might see the problem, but they react differently. Some might perceive the issue, but their gameplay enjoyment isn't impacted enough for it to make a difference.
Many PC players will claim "The game runs perfectly fine on my PC, no stutters at all", yet they never seem to want to provide gameplay footage PROVING it. They literally NEVER prove it. Funny how that works.
@@DeadPixel1105 Well in some cases they might not be sensitive enough to these kind of stutters? Or perhaps they're just okay with it.
@@mhjmstultiens This is right. Many people are not looking for these imperfections like you and me are. They may actually be SEEING it, but they don't register that it's actually a bad thing/something that *shouldn't* be happening.
The same thing happens believe it or not even with display refresh rates. Try showing your grandparents the different between a 60Hz and 120Hz iPhone screen. Me and you can immediately tell the difference, but they might genuinely not understand the difference in what you're showing them.
When people don't see it as an issue, they won't speak out about it as an issue. The truth is, I experienced stuttering in this remake and I believe its absolutely horrific that it has not been fixed and support for the game dropped immediately, but at the same time, it was one of the best games I played in 2023, and if I am being honest, the stuttering didn't really get in the way of that. As much as I hate the stuttering, I think I would have been at a bigger net negative having not played the game at all due to the stuttering rather than powering through it and experiencing the great work Motive did with this remake (so long as it didn't interfere with actually playing the game, like during combat, which 99% of the time it did not for me). If even I, someone who has an eye for these things, noticed it but still had a great experience playing the game, someone who doesn't see these things as an issue will almost certainly not throw up any red flags about their experience.
@@DeadPixel1105to be fair, whether the issue was or wasn't happening, I wouldn't take the time to record footage to prove anything to some random on the internet.
@@mhjmstultiens If they can't see an obvious freeze and hitch that happens at EVERY DOOR in the game then a LOT of people need to get to the optometrist as soon as possible.
As a pretty technical guy, I made a wild guess that the stuttering happens when textures and geometry are transferred onto the graphics card. The higher the resolution of the textures, the more data has to be transferred. So I lowered the quality settings of the textures alone, and it made a big difference. I played the game with pretty much no stuttering at all.
I played it with a 6950xt and the stuttering was crazy, I thought it was my rig as it was my first build, however all my other games are fine so….
ive had a handful of these but ive just started ignoring them
Crazy. Thankfully I still haven't bought it.
I have similar issues in Hell Let Loose though.
Didn't experience this issue at all in my Platinum playthrough on PS5. Got about 50 or 60 hours and nothing of notice.
Ez plat
The video is about the PC version
if you played on the 60 fps mode then you are oblivious as it also stutters a little on PS5 and Xbox too in the same spots. on the 30 fps I don't think there is any stuttering though.
That's because the game stutters due to shader compilation, and with the uniformity of consoles, you can just ship them with the game there.
@@acuteaurait's not shader compilation though that's there as well. It happens on console at 60fps. Either you're sensitive or you aren't, but they're clearly there.
It crashes non stop for me too, literally unplayable. My specs aren't the issue, on a 4070 and 5800x.
Thats too bad. I really want to play this on my PC. Nintendo has still not fixed Switch's Links Awakening Stuttering since 2019 either.
why its so hard to add option for shader compilation is beyond me
it does compile shaders at startup
@@brandon_nope that's the thing, sometimes it does not. I had this happen on my second plasmacutter-only playthrough (on a 3070 Mobile) and the experience went from butter smooth to unplayable. Pretty sure the game doesn't notice driver updates or game updates making the cache stale, and you have to delete the entire driver cache for a proper recompile.
This is not a shader comp issue it's a traversal stutter. The game can not load in assetts fast enough for the frame time window.
Ok wow lol. So funny thing is i don't think i got the stutter as bad as the footage being shown. In fact, i didn't really notice it and if i did it seemed normal. I didn't once go damn those stutters are annoying. My pc has a 13700k, 32gb ddrr5 6000 ram dual channel and rtx 4080. Not saying the stutter may not be present but i didn't seems to notice it to a point that i was looking for it. Usually it's fairly noticeable when it does.
There are so many possible PC configurations blah blah blah. Devs should optimize for the PC equivalent of console hardware plus the top 10 GPUs in the steam hardware survey as a baseline for performance. It's absurd to me PC optimizations are so hard for some ports, the consoles are essentially PCs now!
Kinda glad I gave up on pc gaming this gen.
This game also made me unsuscribe from NX Gamer, because he kept throwing shade at "other channels" reporting wrong stuff (others being the DF Crew). It was very unprofessional.
I did play this game on my ROG Ally three times (to get all achievements). But while I love this game, one of my favorites, the stutter was irritating. It didn’t f-up my fights, and got worse at the end of the game.
I did lower the graphic settings, but it didn’t change the stutter at all.
In the end, I kept my original fine tuned settings and bit the bullet after have watched DF:s videos of the issue.
But man, this game didn’t deserve this stutter. It was too good of a remake for that to “slip” through.
I am glad that you have the same issue because I thought something wrong with my new laptop. But at the same time I am disappointed because you cant fix it , everybody struggle :D But maybe someone fixed it with nvidia desktop panel ?
I played like one year ago and got minor stutters i reinstalled last month frim gamepass and the menu is slow as fk and no matter what i change the game is unplayable.... Horror
Most of the problems with pc performance is related to Ea, which is greedy corporation and don't want to spend extra money after so long after release to fix it, it's not adds up for them
The only solution to fix the problem is to unzip the game archives and recreate the same files without data compression, the game would thus come up with a hundred GB but would no longer have loading problems
It's an extreme solution that has been done in the past many times and especially with Japanese titles that had obvious stuttering issues
Can modders do this?
not only that the game is very heavy on the CPU the temps can rise so high as 75 degrees C to 80 sometimes even 85 which is really bad..its the only game that does this.
I can agree in 2023 still have a lot of stuttering but not like in your video idk but i see this year only more powerful gpu have so much stuttering me i play with rtx 3060 ti with a Ryzen 7 5800x and 32gb ram drr4 3600 mhz this game with dlss on quality all settings on ultra and 2k resolution and i get one 2 stutters ocasionaly and rare and i dont get any stuttering when i go to a room to another or coridor and i try the game without dlss work in 60 fps but my cpu go very hot and my pc start to bottlenck and create a loot of stuttering but its because my pc cant handle 2k native .
I used to get stutters while traversing the game and specially when pausintg and unpausing the game; for me the stutter gets fixed when I start the game, then I exit to menu, start again an pause and unpause the game several times then it gets fixed for me, the only stutters that still persist are the ones that appear when you open a door to a new area.
