Hey CP, Greetings! - Based on a video from Torque Channel, a pinless swivel has shown much lower torque than with a pin. So I would stick the sockets and adapter with a pin. Your channel is fantastic, provides a lot of value to the community and let those videos coming. Thanks and the little Henry is as smart and entertaining as you are :-) HF recently upgraded their swivels $8.99 (Adapter set) with pin and they don't have the collars nor the previous generation with springs.

Thank heavens a review on something that I already own! I don't have to buy any new tools today. I don't own any 1/2" drive and use a pin style instead of the friction ball they don't fall off this way! Great job as always!

Impact swivels to be honest are the only type of impact sockets I own if it needs a regular style socket I just do it by hand. Great safety tip at the end of the vid. A+++++

Keep in mind if you break a sunex socke. Mac truck can order replacements. Maybe not under warranty. But they are $3-4 to replace. Some mac dealers may warranty them depends on your relationship

Am totally with you. Last time I checked, maybe an hour ago, I can still afford Snap-offs... but HF warranty man! none like any other. Another one is Tekton, treated and verified by Torque Channel, the material hardness is almost supernatural, worth every penny of those $10 you spent (1/2" Swivel adapter)

I'm glad you like the Matco adv swivels cp, I was so hesitant to buy them, I have the snap on 1/2" drive swivels which I broke pins on in the past, I need sizes over an inch so I purchased the matco adv 1/2" drive set which goes from 7/16 all the way up to 1 1/4" I'm also glad that sunex makes them because I've been using my 1/2" deep sunex impact sockets for over 20yrs with no breakage, I also got the Matco adv 4pc long swivel driveline set, I'm a medium to heavy duty suspension mechanic and cannot save time without them

I personally have 95% of my universal sockets the Matco pinless design. Complete sae and metro sets in 3/8 and 1/2. Along with a mixture of cornwell USA pinned, snap on sleeved and welded pinned, Mac pinned, sunex adapters along with some of the older pinned Matco USA. All in all I feel like the pin designs all perform the same from one tool truck brand to the other, I do feel matcos pinless is a lot smoother operation so that’s why I invested the most in them. My coworker has those gearwrench swivels and hates them as well. I’ll also say the xcore gearwrench pinless sockets are junk too. Prior to buying my Matco ones I bought the gearwrench version to save a buck and they locked up after 1 use. There’s a difference between Taiwan and USA steel and an even bigger difference between Chinese (gearwrench) and USA steel. I’d stay far far away from any of gearwrenchs Chinese sockets for this very reason

I asked AI Chat: Do pinned or pinless universal swivel sockets give you more clearance? The answer it gave me: Pinned universal swivel sockets tend to give you more clearance, as the pin helps to lock the socket into place and prevent it from moving around as you work. However, pinless swivel sockets can still be very effective and offer a lot of flexibility, especially in tight spaces where you need to be able to manipulate the socket at odd angles. It really just depends on the specific application and personal preference.

If you thought the grewrech ones are junk try the x-core nothing but crap. I have all of the matco pinless on the metric size and I wont go with anything else. I broke 2 of the pinless but they didnt fly apart just a chunk came off the case, this happen to both my 22 and 24 on my 1/2 set, they were part of the early run from armstong.
As for the steelman set I would have to agree I picked up my set last year when they were 107 off amazon. As well as matco now has an adv line of pinless extended universals I wanna say its a small set from 10-15. I believe expo is when they plan to release teh rest of the new adv pinless sockets.

I bought the universal adapters. They swivel but you can just put a socket on the adaptor and use it just like these swivel sockets. But it's so much cheaper to just buy the adaptor like I did. What the scence and any advantage these swivel sockets have over the swivel adaptors ?

Been looking at impact swivels for a while but I can’t find enough of an advantage to them then just using my swivel adapters for the cost anyway, it’s also easy to have 5 adapters compared to having 5 different 10m swivels. Just my thoughts on it although the sockets do look cool as shit.
