Nice process on the embroidery machine I’m going to try that. And watching your video it looked like it was split into two different cameras it was very hard to see some of the things you were doing.
I may have missed it, but what kind of stabilizer did you use? Also what do you do on the bottom to cover up the embroidery stitches? Thank you for your video.
Thank you for the video Julie! I really enjoyed it, and learned a lot! I'm going to try and find you on Facebook so I can follow you. I hope I can make these. You make it look so easy. Wish me luck! 🙂
Thank-you so much for this wonderful tutorial. Just one thing to add...you said you "scored" cotton thread from your mom, but that thread is "100%Polyester". Does it matter?
Th'x Julie. I have tried a couple of times to make this bowl but so far it hasn't worked. I can't seem to keep the roping flat from the beginning. It keeps wanting to curl up - am I getting it too tight you think? I can't get to the embroidery step. I open to any suggestions! :)
Hi Gwen, depending on if you want the "nice" looking side on the inside or outside, turn the bowl inside out, and use double sided tape to hold in place on the stabiliser. Just know that the opposite side is not going to look as pretty.
Thank you so much for the helpful demonstration. Could I ask where I could buy the lovely designs you used on the rope bowls. I looked on you site but I couldn’t find any, I probably missed them. Thank you,
Hi Julie. I'm new to embroidery. I watched the video a couple times and did hear what kind of stabilizer did you use? Any special suggestions for a 4x4 hoop?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE TUTORIAL...QUESTIONS~~~WHAT SIZE NEEDLE DID YOU USE AND IS THE BOBBIN THREAD EMBROIDERY BOBBIN THREAD OR REGULAR THREAD? I WILL GO TO YOUR FACEBOOK GROUP AND HAVE A LOOK AROUND. PERHAPS I WILL FIND MY ANSWERS THERE. I REALLY ENJOYED THIS!
Hi Brenda - I used my regular 11/75 needle for both the stitching and embroidery. I had regular thread on the bottom on the design during construction of the bowl, but went back to bobbin fill for the embroidery.
Hello again! Help! I started embroidering on my rope bowl. In doing so, I continued with the Denim Needle. Broke four needles. Then I switched to embroidery and broke four more. I used tear away sticky stabilizer. My rope was 1/4 inch and all cotton. Also after I tore away the stabilizer I could see the outline of my color stitching. Any suggestions for needle breakage and is it normal to see the outline of the embroidery on the outside bottom of bowl?
I don’t know what her answer would be, but I’m wondering if you have rope instead of macrame cord. These are very different in density. You can make rope bowls, but I doubt you can embroider on rope.
Liked your tutorial Julie however you needed to adjust your camera. Was not able to see much of your video as you were seeing the embroidery. I have to give this tutorial a pour rating as I was watching nothing but your machine bed. Not able to see what you were doing.
You aren’t on camera where we can see properly! Your hands are in the way, when you started the view was better what’s the point of two side perspective if you can’t see? Disappointed
Thank you Julie, you have inspired me. ❤
Wowww, very nice! 😍😍😍😍✌️☺️
What stabilizer do you use on the bottom of the hoop? I like the double sided tape suggestion. Thank you.
My mind is BLOWN. Thank you from Texas! Amazing! I'm doing this ASAP
Your bowls are beautiful.
Hi Julie, a great tutorial. If I may ask what size machine needle as I have a brother machine.
Nice process on the embroidery machine I’m going to try that. And watching your video it looked like it was split into two different cameras it was very hard to see some of the things you were doing.
Loved this tutorial. Been wanting to make one but not sure where to start. Thank you.
Beautiful bowl! I hope to try to do one of these soon! I will have to watch your video again before I try this! Thank you for sharing your talent!
Thank you I did wonder how to start a circle :)
Did you use a regular sewing needle or an embroidery needle?
Julie did you use a jeans needle doing the embroidery or an embroidery needle?
This was a great video and very helpful...thank you for all your angles
Great video! Is it ok to embroider on polyester rope?
I would use sticky back, holds you project perfectly.
Where did you buy the Grunt rope, we don't have it here in Oregon? Thank you love you tutorial learn a lot:)
How inspiring. Is there away to make the bowl a little more structured?
What size needle did you use, great help you are.
Loved the tutorial. No issues with breaking the needle when embroidering?
I may have missed it, but what kind of stabilizer did you use? Also what do you do on the bottom to cover up the embroidery stitches? Thank you for your video.
looks like water soluble
Thank you for the video Julie! I really enjoyed it, and learned a lot! I'm going to try and find you on Facebook so I can follow you. I hope I can make these. You make it look so easy. Wish me luck! 🙂
Can a stabilizer like Vilene be used so the excess can be washed away on the bottom? I love this tutorial. Thank you.
Yes, water soluble works well.

If it curls, it’s too tight, try not pulling it so tight.
Thank you for your help. First attempt not perfect but I’m learning.
Don’t get me wrong the bowls are beautiful with the embroidery
What stabilizer is used, and how is it removed? I assume it may be a water solvable stabilizer. Thanks in advance.
My base of my bowl is bigger than my bowl bottom. Should I undo it so it fits or use larger hoop?
did I miss what kind of stabilizer you are using? I've replayed the video but still didn't hear it mentioned
I’m pretty sure she just used a tearaway stabilizer
Does your machine allow you to use multiple colors?
What kind of stabilizer did you use?
Thank you
LOVED THIS!!
what size embroidery needle that you used? was it a size 14 embroidery needle?
This was a great tutorial. Thank you.
What kind of two-sided tape is used that doesn't leave a residue?
You stated that you use one of these as a fruit bowl. Are these washable? I am a but concerned about placing food in an unwashed bowl. Thank you
Do you do anything with the stitching threads on the bottom of the basket
how do you add more rope if your basket is big and you run out of rope?
Desde Tenerife saludos 🌹
Me parece muy interesante, que triste no poder leer en español.

how would I embroider on the SIDE of an already made rope bowl from target?

Hi Marilyn - here are the designs I used juliehalldesigns.com/collections/all-designs/products/embroidered-rope-basket-mini-collection

Would you care to share your pattern? I know I need something light with not so many stitches. Thank You. Jeanniee

I enjoyed the video and did learn some things. Although the high-pitched noise in the background was very annoying.
You need a machine with a knee leaver, this way your hands would be free.
Great project, the sound is bad. I can;t hear you when you hooped the bottom. Keep trying, I love the bowl.

Also with your machine I would be adjusting the height of the embroidery foot.
I didn’t catch that...is she using macrame cord?
My Janome 500e says maximum thickness is 3 mm and it kept getting hung up when using 4.5 mm cord so guess it won't work for me; very disappointed.
I would think you could use 3 mm cord.

It’s a bowl not a bag, if you wasn’t talking half the time I wouldn’t understand what’s going on
