Embroidery is a very nice touch! What size machine needle is used for constructing the basket itself? I am having trouble finding that information again. Someone mentioned jeans needles, someone else mentioned size 100/16, but I can't remember what size clothesline they used with those needle sizes. This "little" detail seems to be skipped over in so many videos...🤷♀️ But, it could make a Big difference in a successful project..💁♀️ Thank you!
Hi, Wendy. I do cover that in my video on how to actually sew the rope basket. I used a denim/jeans needle to stitch the rope basket Here's the needle I used: amzn.to/3EwthNK I hope this helps!
Thanks, Dorothy! You can buy the rope on Amazon. Here is one of the brands I have used: amzn.to/3CtD2KQ Another great source for all things rope baskets, including the rope, is The Mountain Thread Company. They ship to US, UK, and Canada. www.themountainthreadcompany.com/ I hope this helps!
I love your video! I'm going to attempt to make these as Easter gifts this year! Fingers crossed! Approximately how much rope was used to make your basket? I'd like to order enough to make 7 baskets! Thank you!
@@TheBirchCottage oba, vou aguardar o vídeo com a técnica do bordado no fundo da cestinha, sou nova no canal, já me escrevi, ativei o sininho pra não perder nada mais das suas postagens. 😘💜💛☄☄
Thank you for the tutorial. I watched your tutorial for embroidering a rope bowl. Are you using 60 wt. thread in the bobbin. I can't wait to get started on this unique gift!
Help I saw A RUclips video where they were adding mash to their rope bowls before they sold them I have not been able to find it again are you familiar with this technique and where would I find out how to do it
I am not familiar with using mesh. But, I would think you could watch any video tutorial on how to wrap the rope with fabric. Here's one such video: ruclips.net/video/Nk55x4Jiv6M/видео.html Hope this helps!
One more question, when embroidering did you have issues with the thickness of the bottom of the rope bowl? I would think it is so thick the needle may break.
I did find I had problems with dense designs. I would definitely select designs that have a lower stitch counts or that don’t use much in the way of satin stitches.
Wendy, that is a very good question. The secret to getting a nice flat bottom is to keep the rope flat against your sewing machine and do NOT put your fingers or hands underneath the rope as you are sewing it. Even the slightest lift of the rope will cause it to not lay flat. I tried many different things when I first tried making these bowls. For the life of me, I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. Until one day I was telling a friend about my “fails” when it occurred to me that I had been grabbing ahold of the rope by the edge and kind of turning or rotating it with my fingers and thumb on the side of the rope. This was causing kind of a ripple in the bottom of the bowls instead of a flat surface. So, keep your rope flat as you stitch it and gently guide the rope bottom with your fingers on top of the rope, making sure to keep the bottom nice and flat. I hope this helps!!
I am soo sorry I inadvertently tap dislike instead of like. I quickly corrected tge error. This is a beautiful unique cotton rope basket and I am totally enamoured with your creation. Thank you so much
That’s a good question. My embroidery machine is an embroidery only machine, so I cannot sew the bowl together with my embroidery machine. I would imagine if I had a combination sewing/embroidery machine that I could sew the rope bowl with that machine. Does that make sense? Or answer your question?
I typically use a width of 5-6. You want the needle to come down just about in the middle of the rope on the left and in the middle of the rope on the right. And I use a stitch length of 1-2.
I love your basket
Thank you! They are fun to make!
That looks like a fun, easy gift! Everyone needs a nice, little basket for keys or other odds and ends!
Angie, I couldn’t agree more!
Great training video.
Thank you!! ❤
Lovely !
Glad you like it! Hope you give it a try!
Thanks Pam, this is a great idea. I'm going to try this technique for the bottoms of crocheted shoes and slippers.
That’s a clever idea! Please let me know how it turns out!
The embroidery you did is beautiful & is what caught my eye.
Thank you! That design is from Embroidery Library.
The basket is quite Spectacular and unique.
Wow, how nice are they! Thank you for a great tutorial. You explain everything so well! :)

Cute
Thank you!
Did you do anything special to do the embroidery on the bottom of the basket? How did you hoop the basket?
I’m planning to share a video on the embroidery. I used a tear away stabilizer and a spray adhesive.

Que trabalho lindo, parabéns.
Thank you!
Do you use a regular or denim needle in the sewing machine.
Hi, Karen. I think a denim needle works best!
Two more questions…what type and size needle did you use when zig zagging and then embroidering the baskets? Excellent demo!!!
I used a denim needle when stitching (zigzag) the rope. I used a regular (75/11) embroidery machine needle for the embroidery work.
@@TheBirchCottage Thank you so much! I think I must try this awesome project!!!🤗
@@maryannadams5756 I think you're gonna love it!
What size denim needle did you use? They come as 12, 14 or 16. Knowing this will surely help! Cute idea and lovely basket!
I used a size 16 denim needle.
Thank you for the tutorial. I watched your tutorial for embroidering a rope bowl. Are you using 60 wt. thread in the bobbin. I can't wait to get started on this unique gift!
Hi, Kathleen. I use 90 wt thread in my bobbin.
@@TheBirchCottage Thank you.

How do you get the bottom to stay flat? I have tried 5 different ways, different stitches, different clothesline...etc.
Wendy, that is a very good question. Do you make the rope basket with an embroidery machine or is it too thick for it
That’s a good question. My embroidery machine is an embroidery only machine, so I cannot sew the bowl together with my embroidery machine. I would imagine if I had a combination sewing/embroidery machine that I could sew the rope bowl with that machine. Does that make sense? Or answer your question?

The rope is how many meters?
I recommend rope that is 7/32 to 1/4 inch.
Please move camera as your head is in the way and we can't see what your doing.
Thank you. I’ll keep that in mind.
It's very hard to hear a soft-spoken person. Please speak louder into the mic or change your set up to make yourself more audible
