Hi, I'm born in 1970 in Romania. On those times we couldn't watch on the TV this "Monsters of Music". But I remember gathering at some friends to watch, all night long, video tapes with this TV shows recorded on video casettes "smuggled" by lory drivers . The flats windows were covered with thick blankets to not let any from streets to see the tv light at 2 or 3 AM and the sound was very low to not be heard by noighbours. Sad times but we were very happy to watch them. After 10 hours of watching the TV we were like zombies. On that times it was a "black market" with video tapes with music and movies.
A similar situation existed in the Soviet Union at that time, there was no music, separate recordings and nothing more. Today I regret that I missed a lot, but I caught up with what we have now, the music became heavier and more powerful and energetic, and everything was so attractive back then.
Ohh wow this is really bringing back my childhood, i remember my mum and dad blasting out Slade and Brian Ferry and loads of other awesome music and that's what got me into all the greatest artists of the 70s and 80s and even a fair bit from the 60s and I'm eternally grateful for that ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I just LOVE Virginia Plain by Roxy Music ... I remember as a 7 year old, being mesmerized by that song on The Top of The Pops on that Thursday evening in 1972!.
Saw Roxy twice back in the 70s, once for the Siren tour. Virginia Plain makes it clear why they hit the charts right away. Bryan Ferry lost his edge at some point, became more of a crooner. I saw Alice Cooper on the Killer tour. That was the best concert I ever saw. The audience went nuts. I never considered Alice Cooper glam. They were more like early punk.
Man, that Suzy Quatro song and her high voice really gets my adrenaline going, fantastic audio production and performance all around. Just magic. I can't believe those jocks doing the goofy dance with Mud didn't crack up laughing !
It was their road crew who they promised to get on stage with them. Mud were great, really didn’t take themselves too seriously but very talented musicians

We moved to Canada in 1988. About 6 years ago, my husband on business in Vancouver saw Brian Ferry sitting in the same restaurant with a few guys.. All my husband's colleagues had never heard of Brian Ferry.😂 My hubby about to leave and his friends said " go say hello or you may always regret it" My husband went over, introduced himself and Brian got up and shook his hand and introduced himself.. magic 🎉🎉
What a poignant sad last line of the whole video. Marc singing “Life’s a gas and I hope it’s gonna last”. Who would have believed that he only had four years left of his brilliant life 🥲
Slade for me. Great songs. Saw them twice. Was like being hit with a truck. They never gave up until they had smashed the place to pieces and all eardrums
They were never liked at the BBC because of the joke Steve Priest pulled out with his german outfit and they propably were getting to outrageous at their live-shows aswell where they changed some lyrics in some of their songs to a more sexual direction. What a nice compilation! That Cockney Rebel song makes me cry for some reason, there's such a sense of disappointment and loss in the song. I know this music is called glam now but in America at least in the seventies, it was called glitter.
At the time, I didn't realize Quiet Riot was merely a cover band for Slade songs. Kevin even sounded like him, and he tried to act as crazy as Nodder did. Direct rip-off.
DuBrow might have sounded similar to the great god Nod on record but live he simply couldn't compete. Admittedly the guitarist in QR was streets ahead of Dave but he is only a average player in fact, he wasn't even the best guitarist in Slade! That honour goes to Jim who as we now know recorded nearly all Slades later material solo with the rest of the band coming in later to do overdubs and for Nod to add his trademark vocals.

And of course also Bowie was missing, as important as Marc, so perhaps that's why I commented that why
SURPRISE SURPRISE!!!, no Bowie in this compilation means no Glam Rock video anymore.
