LOL I like you, Chad! Every time you said you don't know what it is and you tried it. You're basically one of us Vietnameses now haha. Welcome to the family!
The camera guy and the editor really captured the SaiGon atmosphere! You have a great team, I wish you luck on your content creating journey and in life also!
🐢 Oh, and that second location is more appropriately translated to "Turtle Pool" or "Turtle Fountain" instead of "lake". In the old days, it was like the Bellagio Fountain in Vegas where jets of water danced about with pretty lighting at night. That particular location had been a place of special monuments for centuries. This one was built in 1964 and had a giant copper color turtle in the water carrying a tall marble column on its back with all the names of countries who helped S.Vietnam economically at the time to "blossom up" in the world. Hence the tall, growing flower. Unfortunately, the turtle was blown up after 1975 because the marble column carried a lot of Western Democracy names including the US, which was considered especially not kosher at that time. 🐢
thanks for the info, I was wonder the meaning of the name for a long while. It is one of my favorite sopt, where the asmosphere still feel cool in the hot day.
I love to see your perspective of a chef trying to demystify Viet food. I found your channel partly thru Max, while I love his content as well, yours is like a breath of fresh air, keep up the great work, especially recreating some of your fav dish with a modern twist/technique!
bro you're Vietnamese pronunciation is really good, it's only going to get better but what you have now is quite proficient. i notice in your videos that you visualize whether the tones go up or down (often with your hand movement), and that's how you arrive at the correct pronunciation. great strategy, highly intuitive of you
Great video. I have eaten at so many places you try. Bit disappointed you are not a fan of chicken feet. A lady on Truong Dinh st , before u hit the river has great chicken wings, feet , okra , octopus etc. i will have to try these two dishes . Cheers
i am enjoying your videos along with several others in Viet Nam as each has a slightly different take; even in the same area at times. i thought i spotted you and maybe another westerner in a bushman prank video not long ago there. keep up the good work.
This editor is so good! Also - it’s interesting to me that they give you a bowl/silverware and you just go eat anywhere nearby. Do you just return the bowl back to the lady when finished?
This was a great episode - loved it! Your last Breakfast for a buck was a little too quick and over edited animation wise. This was so much easier to watch and enjoy!
@@doodahgurlienah we aren’t gonna start policing other people’s bodies on this channel. Let’s focus on how awesome the food looks and the great job Chad is doing in sharing with us all.
@@olygeeks He is doing an awesome job, but he is also on camera. He's a good looking guy, but got to be cognizant that looks do matter when one is on social media. Also, there's obvious health concerns if he doesn't nip it in the bud sooner rather than later as many Viets have diabetes (from all that sugar and carb in the food). What am I talking about as I'm a total hypocritical sedentary fatty...but I'm also not being filmed. LOL
It’s a sign of a professional chef. He tastes his food unlike so many fakes out there. And we need to quit this BS about your on camera and you should look a certain way. Andrew Zimmerman was not a Ken doll and he’s still successful. Chads content and perspective as a VN food channel is the most unique I’ve come across in a while.
Chad when you said the word trộn you sound like your saying the Chinese word for the rice dumplings粽子 that we eat for the dragon boat festival . Man every time you have a new post makes me more more want to go back to eat and also give a chance to visit my aunt and family.
Mr Chad I have to say you're gonna blow up (in terms of views and subscribers) in the future!! The production is amazing, its funny, it has alot of varieties of food, everything looks delicious. And to top it off you're a funny and loveable host too. I love it, nothing to even complain about.
Honestly Vietnam is hit or miss. Some times you find some amazing things. Sometimes you find some surprising things. Chicken neck and heart was fun and interesting.
The reason why it's called Hồ Con Rùa is because there used to be a statue of a turtle at the bottom of the tall structure in the middle of the lake (with the names of all the countries that supported the South Vietnamese government). The whole "lake" was actually constructed during the existence of the Republic of Vietnam, and practically, it doesn't have any function. There was a turtle with a tall structure in the middle of the lake to serve the purpose of feng shui :)
Your videos could be used for learning English as well. 1) glass noodles: miến 2) banana flower: rau chuối 3) shrimp paste: mắm tôm 4) shredded pork skin: bì 5) egg cake: chả trứng ... 😅😅😅 Are these words correct?
There used to be a metal turtle there. The park was built in the shape of the bagua and the oriental five-element theory of The East to bring feng shui peace to the area. Because of political upheavals half a century ago the turtle was destroyed, that's why we no longer see it today.
Hi. I enjoyed your new show. "Breakfast for a Buck" great easy title. You have a great personality, Bright, exuberant. Can't wait to see you, doing a morning show on NBC New York Tv. I.E "Today with Hoda Kotbi and Jenna. Bush" 5:03 . Oh! You could do an international spot. You need an agent. Submit 25, shows, to an western agent. All the best, a fan. Shaun of NYC
Not many foreign food vlogers can talk about Vietnamese dishes like you. 🎉
Thank you 👍
😲 What I find amazing is how so many individual ingredients along with serving bowls and utensils can fit on such a tiny cart. Ingenious!
LOL I like you, Chad! Every time you said you don't know what it is and you tried it. You're basically one of us Vietnameses now haha. Welcome to the family!
Oh man, I used to eat hu tieu kho(dry hu tieu) on the street and my mind was blowed away! It's so delicious!
thankyou for promoting the food.
Great to see you growing into the content. Great job.
I appreciate it!

I prefer thêm grilled crispy, boiled I haven’t enjoyed it yet
The editor also did a really good job, sick video!
Both dishes look great to me...and I'm not even a glass noodle fan (my least favorite of all the noodles, but the stuff she had in it looked awesome).

@4:47 yes there used to be a turtle on the top of that tower. 😊
Is there any restaurant or stall that makes the mi fresh?
This was a great episode - loved it! Your last Breakfast for a buck was a little too quick and over edited animation wise. This was so much easier to watch and enjoy!
the views are up mr kubanoff
Awesome stuff man
Appreciate that
Can you put locations in your descriptions please.
the turtle lake is actually based on a vietnamese literature story where a turtle gifted a king a sword to win a war
he mentioned what I always notice... everything is so low to the ground... she is squatting all the way... incredible
Bruh, this man right here has better chopstick technique than me. Really impressive
So good
❤thank you
The first bowl look way better.
Is that your tummy or a bag in your shirt? Anyways nice video ❤
It’s a bag of food, I call my belly 🤣
I noticed it too, but you beat me to it. LOL! Chad needs to start working out or dieting as he's got that dad bod down.

Hello , how long have you lived in Vietnam?
6 years
omgggg miến trộn đại học kiến trúc is the besttttttttttttt
Chad when you said the word trộn you sound like your saying the Chinese word for the rice dumplings粽子 that we eat for the dragon boat festival .
Man every time you have a new post makes me more more want to go back to eat and also give a chance to visit my aunt and family.

The white mystery meat in your soup was pork gum. The part that holds the teeth

Has anyone ever said you look a bit like Justin Timberlake?
Nope…but I’ll happily take it 😂😁
@@yeschefwithchadkubanoff this makes me the first one to say that. I do see some resemblance.
1 like for ho con rua😂
Most of the dishes one can not eat otherwise you will get diarrhea 😅
