    Harley needs to make Sport Glide S:
    1. 114 out of factory2. All blacked out3. 19" front wheel4. raise rear suspension to get higher ground clearance and 31 deg lean angle.5. mid control.6. Taller seat.

      why wouldn't a sport glide S have a 117? an S model should have the full screaming eagle kit, IMO.

    • @6FeetDeep4U
      @6FeetDeep4U 4 года назад +2

      Having the option of the 114 would be nice, but I honestly am not needing additional power on mine. Plus you know how that would go, a 20k bike turns into 22k. Or something. Very enjoyable bike to ride. Dare I say, fun?! But havi g a crotch rocket background & a Harley that likes to lean & take corners well, you will hear that grinding noise on the pegs if your not careful. It's fun. Just cracking the throttle lightly pulls you out of the corner in a hurry. I just don't see the need for the 114. Just my opinion.

    I'm thinking about getting my first Harley, but I haven't owned a bike before. My dad rides a 2014 Street Glide and loves it, but even he said that a Big Harley isn't the smartest move, now if your wondering yes I've ridden before and yes I have an endorsement, but I used a friends R3 for the test.

    • @JonsMotoGarage

      Yeah, the baggers are a lot of bike. I'd go for a softail. There are so many good options to choose from.

  • @Love4boost
    @Love4boost 5 лет назад +1

    When they came out with the new softails they had a small demo day run by my local dealer. I had a guy in front of me that I had met a couple times and considered asking if he wanted to go on a ride because he had the exact same street bob as me down to the color. I’m glad I didn’t because he ruined my ride. He was so slow through every turn. And when they would open up in the straights he just never cranked the throttle. It was overall a disappointing day. Especially since I had ridden the new street bob and wasn’t impressed. I actually got back on mine being extremely happy with how good mine was. The next demo day after which was the beginning of the one you participated in was when I realized there was a better Harley than my street bob. It wasn’t a low rider s that just so happened to release not even a month after I bought my bobber. It was the street glide. A bike double the cost. Luckily I had a break in my budget due to a car getting totaled and I bought one 😈

    • @JonsMotoGarage
      @JonsMotoGarage  5 лет назад +1

      You hit the nail on the head! Lol. Yeah, it's luck of the draw with who's in the group. Lol. I feel bad cause everyone is at a different skill level when riding and I don't wanna pass judgment. But it's like having a party pooper for the demo ride. Lol. What bike are you on now? Looks like a street glide in your profile pic?

    • @Love4boost
      @Love4boost 5 лет назад

      Yup 2018 street glide special. I love it! I didn’t think I would because the street bob is straight line fast, nimble at low speeds, and just absolutely sexy. But the street glide was always the bike I found more appealing. I honestly feel like it’s the street bobs touring sister. It’s everything I love about the street bob and way more. I’m still more comfortable at low speed maneuvers on a Dyna because of the weight. But I’ve seen cops wheel these touring bikes. So I’m trying to get as comfortable. And I’m getting closer at this point to Dyna comfort. Next step is police control.

    I’m really considering buying the Sport Glide. How would you compare the maneuverability and comfort of the Sport Glide with that of the Fat Bob 114 and the Softail Slim? I’m in the market for a new bike. It’s between the Sport Glide, the Slim, the Fat Bob 114 and the Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster. Did the fairing block the wind pretty good? Or do you still feel that wind blast??

    Hey Jon, I have a H-D Sport Glide. Bit of an old hot rodder here. Stage 3, S&S 2-1. Realized the Softails have stupid tall gearing with a 2.79 final drive ratio. So I machined down the sprocket from an M8 powered Trike and put it with a bigger pulley for a 3.15 final drive ratio. IMO like H-D should have sent it out the door. Now she’s fun, in town, on an 80 mph cruise, accelerates 80 to 120 more like.. well a light & nimble version of an m109r. Not to say it’s all that but it’s fun. Has the factory quick release with what I call bikini fairing with Gustafsson windscreen. Great for the highway, pops off in seconds as does the bags for a fun naked bike. Been following your vids for awhile. Curious if you would like to ride it sometime and do a review.

      Jon's Moto Garage I did get it dynoed 116HP & 116TQ at the wheel. Not bad for keeping full warranty & not losing low end torque. Plan to put on some T bars, the H-D Heritage spring to gain an inch of rear travel & improve available lean angle. Add a K bar engine guard, mid pegs, rear slider and a few others mods to make it more club style. I did get your email. I get to Phoenix a few times a summer and can take the bike. Bringing it & my sons new 636 back from Bike week now. Son was surprised he could not pull me till plus 120.

    Ok Jon. I’m glad to see you demo this bike sir. I own the F6B but lately I’ve really got the hots for this sportglide. I haven’t ridden it though yet. Tell me how you’d compare the two since you own a F6b. Which is more exciting? Nimble? Comfortable? Thanks.

    • @JonsMotoGarage
      @JonsMotoGarage  5 лет назад +1

      Hmmmm...that's a tough call for sure! Lol. Having ridden the two, I think it will ultimately come down to what you plan to do most on the bike. I would go with the sportglide for the fun factor, even though I'm always surprised by how fun the f6b is as well. But I imagine if I had the two in the garage, the sport glide would be my first pick for running errands, cruising up the boulevard, or hitting the canyons. But of course if I was planning to do long trips or ride two up, it would be the f6b all day. Try to hit the next demo ride and see what you think. Very tough choice for sure.

      2018 went into the dealer not at all thinking of Sport Glide....quite frankly hadn't heard of it. Tried almost all the softails and more.... street Bob, low rider, breakout, fat Bob , fat boy , street glide, road glide....anyways, by pure chance sat on Sport Glide. 500 yards and I knew it was going to be my next bike. In my humble opinion hands down it's the best Harley out there. It's both worlds into one... touring and cruising...
      and man it's glides real smooth, designed perfectly for the average body height , reach, etc very responsive, quick and easy mamouvering like sport bike should be. The 107 doesn't bother at all. In fact maybe even the right Milwaukee 8..... I am old school so I stripped the black paint of the front forks to give it the chrome look and loaded the bike with Kuryakyn chrome grips, pedals, brake and clutch covers, derby etc....changed the AC too...moved the front pedals further forward by 3"....told you old school...and more.....cushioned the chrome studded seats as well as extending the passenger seat....leather look covering the saddle bags with chrome studs....it's back to the 70s with 21st century technology.....been to most of the Western States , not once a problem!
      How can HD better this already winner?
      1. Maybe the faring and the saddlebags should be optional so price can be lowered by maybe as much as $1,000.00 and so more competitive with rivals....
      2. Get rid of the grandma's sewing machine sound
      3. Extend the front fork/wheel by 2-3 degrees.
      4. Bigger rim at the front with a little thinner tire so just give it a slight lift on the front.
      5. I guess offer it in the 114/117 .... Just so those who have to have it, be kept happy.....me included I guess, though to be honest I really am happy with the 107....but I know how it goes..... it's a disease!
      Yes I think that should do it....

      I agree the wheels are a bit eccentric. Lo.

      @EazyE11 5 лет назад

      You think it's priced ok?

    • @Jonathan-L
      @Jonathan-L 5 лет назад

      @@EazyE11 Yeah, sort of ... it's somewhat cheaper than the Fat Boy, but when you take off the fairing & bags from the Sport Glide, it has a resemblance to the Fat Boy (ignoring the wheels of course) in terms of overall design, ie a cruiser. I really love the Fat Boy & Breakout in when it comes to styling and they look amazing, but the Sport Glide seems pretty good for the price. And the 107 engine still is more than enough for most riders.
      Another comparison would be the Sport Glide against the Softail Slim ... in my country (Western Australia), there's about a $800USD price difference, which makes the Sport Glide seem a better deal based on the panniers, cruise control & easy access rear suspension adjuster. Of course, some people may just want the wire wheels & homage styling of the Slim. But bang for buck, the Sport Glide does tick a few boxes.
      I must say, I really like fully black pipes on the Sport Glide (eg tinyurl.com/yyvuxcno).

    • @EazyE11
      @EazyE11 5 лет назад

      @@Jonathan-L I see. I'm looking for my first harley and am torn between the sport glide and the breakout. Haven't ridden either yet but to me they seem over priced (this coming from a Ducati owner). Love the 240 rear on the breakout but like the fact that the sport glide comes with bags and a fairing. The sport glide is about $600 cheaper in the US at least. I would be paying extra for aftermarket bags on top of the higher price for the breakout so I'm really not sure.

    • @Jonathan-L
      @Jonathan-L 5 лет назад

      @@EazyE11 The Breakout looks super cool, but that doesn't mean to say that the Sport Glide won't put a grin on your face. Of course you'll need to ride all of the models you're contemplating ... from what I've seen on RUclips, the Fat Bob gets a lot of praise for it's handling & fun factor, so maybe put that on your list too. Like yourself, I'm torn between making a choice, and I really should test ride the Fat Bob & Sport Glide ... yes, chalk & cheese models ... the Fat Bob for being the street machine and the Sport Glide as a cruiser. The looks of the Fat Bob don't really 'grab me', but I think that it's reputation for handling (ie, flickable & reasonable cornering clearance) is what attracts me to the Fat Bob. And the Sport Glide's pannier kit make it enticing. I'm not in the buying process, but still in the 'getting to know the models' stage :)

    Guys what’s a good Harley for a first time big guy ?

    • @JonsMotoGarage
      @JonsMotoGarage  5 лет назад

      New rider, or just new to Harleys? Also, do you plan on buying new or getting something used? I would check a dealership and sit on a few of the different models to see what fits you best. If you're bigger, the softail would probably be a good start before eventually rollin up to a road king, road glide, etc. You may want to skip over the sportster. Hahaha.

      @@josevelazco9796 I would definitely hit the dealer and try em out to see what feels the best as far as ergonomics. Most have the same engine, so power/performance wont be too different.

      I didnt get a chance to try out the fatboy. That and the heritage would've been next in the list but I ran out of time. Lol.

    I rode a Sport Glide at one of HD’s demo days and agree it’s a fun bike to ride. I bought my Raider about a month later largely on the price difference but also torque. Now that I’m used to the Raider I’d like to ride the SG again just to see how noticeable the power difference is, and if the SG would be acceptable to me. Too bad they don’t offer the 114 in the SG. IMO they shouldn’t have even had the 107. I think it’s a marketing scheme and a mistake to have two sizes of the MW8. Yamaha doesn’t play games like that hoping you’ll upgrade later.

      I rode the Heritage Classic with the 114 right after. I like that motor better but I preferred the SG handling. Luggage capacity is pretty much the same.

      Nice! Yeah, the raider has always seemed like the best bang for your buck (in the used market). You just get so much moto for the money! I'm curious now to try the 107 vs 114 again. Jumping between the 2, I didnt really notice a huge difference; however, on the demo ride we were riding em all pretty slow and without really testing em out.

      In city driving I don’t think there is a big difference between the two motors. It was more noticeable at highway speeds. We went on the freeway for just a short distance. With both bikes that gave me a chance to change lanes and break from the group briefly and “get on it”. I didn’t get scolded by the ride leader 😜 I think they know we can get frustrated getting trapped behind a slow rider.

    Kinda dumb that you have to ride in a group instead of just taking the bike for a ride for yourself and returning it after like 20 minutes

      @JonsMotoGarage  5 лет назад

      Yeah, I would prefer that method as well. Lol. That's how the Indian camp was.

    As expected brotha, now you are in the know. Represent Sport Glide. You did her justice. I drove my Stage 2 with Pro Pipe hard today. I just ordered a custom 12” windshield that should be added soon when it gets here. IG:@yellohj
