when the video does close up to the big ships I always imagine how many ppl there would be on board, what they do the whole day and so on I wished I could live in a future like that
@Johnson Erica yea same lol both thoughts, always wonder if theres people in there and also it would be magic is i can reach an era like on this game ^^
Some of them did appear in X3AP - the mod team that made the ships gave EGOSOFT permission to use. The Kyoto, Megalodon, Xenon I, and many of the ships from XTC appear in X3AP. It was the same with the Xtended mod for X3: Reunion - most of the ATF ships, frigates, M6+ and M3+ ships added in X3: Terran Conflict originally appeared in the XTM mod for Reunion.
The awesome Valhalla from XTM is actually in the XTended Terran Conflict mod, albeit renamed as the Ragnarok. The weird looking ("I NEED MORE ENGINES!") Valhalla from vanilla X3TC is still in Xtended, and spawns as a unique ship (like the old Argon One) in the Terran starting sector.
I keep hoping now that X4 on Steam has the Steam Workshop that someone will mod these all into X4, you can get some ships from XR I think now, I never played XR so not sure
M2+ ships like the Megalodon and Kyoto have docking ports for ships (in Xtended, the Kyoto can dock up to 24 M6 or smaller ships). In the base game, standard M2s like the Titan and Python cannot dock any ships, though Xtended adds a docking port for a M4 fighter ship.
It must be pretty damn processor heavy to render all these capital ships at once. I've got to admit though, this was definitely one of the best optimized games I've ever played. I've got a rather mediocre desktop, and a notebook with nothing noteworthy at all. However, all of the X games play perfectly at 30-60 FPS with all the graphical settings maximized. This is incredible, for a computer that struggles to reach 20 on Minecraft.
This is total visual Sex. The detail of the designs and originality are astounding. I got X3 years ago but even though it was low spec laptop back then the graphics were amazing. Would just fly around for hours soaking in all the visuals. Dont think i could play this properly lol. P.S. the soundtrack is sublimely beautiful also
I only still got X3TC but imported the ships into my game myself from X3R XTM and tweaked them to my liking. I absolutely love the Valhalla but kept the original alongside - said that the XTM Valhalla was a redesigned and enhanced one etc.
One of these days I'll get my own leviathan, got the game recently and wow it's pretty heavy lack of a tutorial but hey i'll figure it all out. Took me a couple of hours to figure out how to sell a ship and start trade off haha :)
Half of these are from the Xtended mod. Besides, while I agree the argon are ugly in x4, the teladi and xenon were hideous in x3, so on balance we came out better.
Yeah, any of them can be flown by the player, who has direct control of it just like a (very slow) fighter craft. Almost all of them can be purchased at shipyards, though some (Xenon and Pirate ships) require you to use a boarding party to kill the crew and steal it. Kha'ak capital ships cannot be acquired normally, but if you cheat one in you can fly it just like any other ships.
Rendering the capital ships isn't particularly processor heavy, it's when they get moving and fighting all in the same screen - if you see my video showing the XTRA ship pack ships in combat, my framerate drops to like ~15fps ( watch?v=tplsM_j_ucw ). If you approach too closely to a ship, the FPS will drop as X3 will render the entire ship if you get within its collision avoidance sphere. Minecraft isn't a good comparison for optimization because it's coded terribly and is unoptimized :V
Actually you can board them just as you can any other ship, problem is their Kyons make boarding virtually impossibly unless timed PERFECTLY. If you do manage to actually board it successfully, the real work really starts since Kyons arent sold in the vanilla game so you are basically stuck with a weaponless ship unless you script the guns in, or run a mod.
Actually I have next to zero experience with coding, sorry. I've just modified a couple scripts in the Xtended Mod to work with the Xtra ship mod. X3 doesn't use a scripting "language" so to speak - when you open up the script editor, you basically select a command (ie, finding a type of ship) and string them together to create your scripts. The syntax is pretty straightforward though sometimes there is some weirdness with spacing apart different lines.
The comparison to Minecraft was rather intentional, just to point out how big of a difference simply writing cleanly makes to a game. Visually, at least on the surface, the X series appears much more complex and demanding on both the video card and processor, yet the comparatively simple and low-end of Minecraft is much more painful to use. Then again, a lot of this lies in the background magic around rendering in X, such as how the gorgeous backgrounds are simply still images. Also, +2 Likes.
Castrum I think it's a Xtended ship, also froOTAS in Reunion Extended see if you can get the other M1 ship, it's a star wars shape like, black... it's really cool!
Amazing showcase of what's available. Nothing has ever come close to the scale of X:3 for the ships, its why I love it so much. Hopefully X:4 is a worthy successor.
A lot of these ships are pretty to look at but they don't end up fairing well in combat, some are too big or slow to evade and maneuver, while others have terrible gun distribution on their hulls which gives them huge blind spots. I mean the general rule of the game is the smaller the ship the better and easier it is to fly. For example, I clear 2 xenon sectors in my Odysseus without trouble but I cant even clear half a sector in a Kyoto cause its so darn large (even though it has 1.5x shield)
+Johnson Erica The OTAS Boreas...third one show in the video. It's smaller and, more maneuverable than the other battleships which helps to avoid getting shot in a huge way. And you can load it up with the best weapons and fire all day...it has enough power to keep that going where some others run out of energy. And you can purchase it. The Terran ships are the best, but you can't buy the top end ones...at least I was never able to. You can capture them though, but it's not easy and it'll lower your rating with the Terrans when you do. It's also hard to get the big Terran weapons for the ships as they respawn at the factories very slowly. Aka....the Terran ships can be got, but take a ton of time and effort. The Boreas is much easier to get, and still a top ship. I can kill anything in the game with one of them with little effort. You can also capture most of the weapons you need for it. I find Xenon capital ships to be the best source. They are always available in the Xenon sectors. When you kill them they usually drop lots of goodies. (You can capture these ships too, although they are the hardest to do in the game. They kill marines with ease.) Hmm...There was one mission where you have a ton of Terran ships after you in one sector. You can capture them without taking a hit to your Terran REP due to the way the mission is setup. I was able to take out all of the smaller ships, and then pop in and out capturing one ship at a time. They just mill around aimlessly. All you need to do is get just one to chase you away from the others so they don't come to help. I think I used a Split Cobra. Take down the shields with heavy missiles, using lighter ones near the end to be careful not to kill the ship but keep the shields low enough that you can then send in capture pods. And of course saving a lot...as sometimes you loose too many good marines, or accidentally damage the ship too much, or totally kill it. You'll need to have some factory complexes to build the missiles, or it'll take forever to find and buy all the missiles you need. Sorry I can't give you better details, it's been about 2 years since I last played this.
btw, Maneuverability is very important. Even the best shields can get blasted away easily on a slow moving ship. I can take on multiple capital ships with the Boreas as I can avoid getting hit by most enemy fire. Most other slow moving ships can't, even though some of them have much heavier shields.
This is the first time i ever seen that Kh'ak Dreanought.... ship... O.O its flaming huge!!!!! where can u spot one? can you even survive after encountering one? whcih sector can i find them on? Tell me i gotta know... @-@
Ok...why is there a ship that looks like a Star Wars Providence Class Copy? Everything on it has the same shape, and is actually on the same spot than the Star Wars version.
Sector Takeover script. You'll receive money from NPC stations in sectors you own, and you pay taxes to the races when you have your own stations in their sectors.
holy shit.... dat ragnarok made tyr looked like an m3 rofl... and allow me to be imaginative, had commander shepard able to spawn all those M2+, he wouldn't need a crucible, lol.
I was using my Saitek X52 joystick, in the Classic flight mode (SHIFT+N), in an M3+ ship (a Teladi Kea) without any rudder tunings installed. Installing rudder tunings can make the camera seem jittery if you aren't very careful with the joystick, so it's best to just leave them off. You could also do it with a gamepad, or with mouse-follow mode, though you'd probably need to pick a ship with poor turning stats to keep it smouth.
Can you get those ships? I have that game but I never played it seriously. Do I need a joystick to play it properly? I got one, but I prefer mouse control like Freelancer
+AzzySunfire Yep. Almost every ship shown in the video can be acquired and flown once you've got the credits to buy and outfit them. Though some ships are from a game mod,, indicated by (XTC) in the ship's name in the annotations. X3 works best with a mouse, as it's an interface heavy game.
The vanilla game doesn't do a good job at giving us grand massive battles. Thankfully we can add a mod or two in to spice things up without breaking the overall balance (if anything it makes it far harder at times). I love watching Terran and Argon murdering each other then only to have some Split pirates and Xenon show up. Eventually I jump in my Tokyo and Colossus and a few Cobras and watch the slaughter. I tried finding a suitable combat roll for my Aran but honestly it does best as a dock for my Mammoth and my Mercury trading/ mining fleet.
Those things are massive and beautiful, I uninstalled the game because my video card cant keep up with the game but when I get a better one let the fun begen!
Horrace Foster There is a patch, which fixes the framerate drop. I'm using gtx970 and before the patch there were moments with 1-2fps. It's just the engine is old and is not using efficiently the new hardware. I also reccomend you several other mods like the XRM, MARS fire control - for turrets, and CODEA for carriers. It's a bit tricky though, to make them work together :)
Which patch is the new one, I am using a radeon 7850 and fps is horrible I just got the 3.5 patch? Thank you for the information, I have never come across a space series like this in a long while, you piddle away so many hours and don't realize it till the wife says it is time for bed! I truly enjoy it!
You can only get it via cheating in X3TC, but I think you can board & capture it in X3: Albion Prelude. It spawns in Xtended as a unique ship that can be captured, as well.
but now that I'm thinking about it, most of the m2+ models are not that great, XRM ATF Bragi for example, looks more menacing than Ragnarok despite the much smaller size.
when the video does close up to the big ships I always imagine how many ppl there would be on board, what they do the whole day and so on
I wished I could live in a future like that
@Johnson Erica yea same lol both thoughts, always wonder if theres people in there and also it would be magic is i can reach an era like on this game ^^
and that is the beauty of playing and creating this type of games!
X3 music is so soothing.
Every other race: Serious looking ships
Sohnen: DISCO TIME

More help is available on the EGOSOFT forums, including some complete guides in the "Scripts and Modding" section
Awesome soundtrack !!!
So cool!!
I forgot how rad the ship designs were in X3
These ships are so much better than the shit designs in X4
Agreed, so disapointing atm.
Exacly what a thaught seeing this!! look like 3d modeler in X4 are lazy ass neophyte vs X3 master
Exactly! Das sehe ich genauso wie Du.
I keep hoping now that X4 on Steam has the Steam Workshop that someone will mod these all into X4, you can get some ships from XR I think now, I never played XR so not sure
Thank you. Never heard of this game before. Very interested to try it out after seeing your video!

Thats pretty cool,
good to hear that there are still companies out there who are supporting mod communities
Great video. I especially loved design of Boron/Argon/Terran ships
Ships of Sohnen, Terrans and this Megalodon are AWESOME!!!
Thanks for video.
Oh my god....That leviathan *drools*. Thanks for uploading these videos.

So someone DID find the Megalodons interior :D (I think you were the first) Thanks for the cool vid!
I'm pretty sure I captured a Kha'ak capital ship using the advanced salvage software script once...
The kha ak dreadnought is a beast ...mmm !
I only still got X3TC but imported the ships into my game myself from X3R XTM and tweaked them to my liking. I absolutely love the Valhalla but kept the original alongside - said that the XTM Valhalla was a redesigned and enhanced one etc.

Hey saber long time man :).
That Khaak Dreadnought looks scary from the back looks like an prayer mantis head lol
You mean that aft, rotating hole? Its a main engine, supported by few auxiliary engines.
What were they thinking for X4? These are amazing.
Half of these are from the Xtended mod. Besides, while I agree the argon are ugly in x4, the teladi and xenon were hideous in x3, so on balance we came out better.
Argon Titan my favorite :)

thanks for this
Is the Otas HCF in Terran conflict? As I managed to capture a Khaak destroyer with the Otas HCF, Otas Custodian and a Sohnen Mantis!

Excellent video!
Egosoft should put all these ships in Albion Prelude!!!
this game gives a real perspective of how space realy is
17:52 Star Wars vibes anyone. It looks like Greivouses ship from RotS
that boron Megalodon. death star hole?

+Admiral Attila Terran ships look beautiful.

the paranid olympos looks incredible is that part of xtended or is it in vanilla?
Xtended
The only vanilla M0s are the ATF Valhalla (the weird trimaran one, the 10km long monstrosity with the flat prow is the mods version), and the Xenon O.
do anyone know if u can fly large ships like battle cruisers rather than small ships on X franchise?
What is Khaak big destroyer? It’s a mod?
Kinda sounds like the endless space theme song mixed with x3 tc
The Kyoto is very similar to Star Conflict's Maelstrom
This game will always be better than any space game ever even the new x games now are a step backwards.
greetings cmdrs.. enjoy the not so difficult game.
are all of these flyable?
can you tell me how you moved the camera so smoothly? (want to make a video)

awesome man

phukin awesome
man WHY can't we have these ships in Rebirth???
so saddening what they've done to the series
the name of the last one is scylla.
Yup. Don't know why.

The Paranid Olympos os not in the game o.o
This is a showcase of the mod.... XTENDED TC or short XTC
boreas for the win :PPPP
ships look great but I prefer x rebalance the weapons are better I think
Way better than X4... What happened to Egosoft.
That is ship porn.
